Chapter 5 The Summoning

Nikolas's POV

I stood staring at the window as I observed the abundant scenery before me. An expanse of servants and guards. A luxurious decor as well as grandeur and beauty.

As I watched all this things that were made mine a few years back, I didn't feel the satisfaction I did back then. Instead I felt oddly numb.

I wasn't sure when it started but I had begun to feel bored and uninterested in everything around me.

Oh! I remember when it happened. It was about a year ago. I began to feel like my life dull and grey.

"Kayden." I called and then went on to lay on my bed. I knew that he could hear me because he was my beta and we shared a connection. So far he was anywhere near me, I could summon him.

I didn't have to wait long because a knock sounded on my door and after receiving my affirmation, he walked in.

He bowed. "My Lord. You summon me."

"Hm, I did. How is the patrol going? Did you find anything odd around the borders?"

"I have increased the patrolling team like you asked. No I didn't find anything odd." He paused for a second. "If I may my Lord, can I ask why you suddenly wanted me to increase the patrols? We are the biggest pack in the world so I'm not sure who would be foolish enough to trespass without permission." He asked and I smiled.

Took him long enough. The fact that he could wait till now to ask me surprised me. He just followed orders and asked later. That was why I liked him so much.

Still I wasn't going to tell him. At least not now. "It's not your business, Kayden. Do not forget your place and stop questioning my decision."

He knelt with a resounding thud placing a hand on his chest. " I'm sorry, my Lord. I shouldn't have overstepped." He apologized.

"Soon, you'll know why I'm suddenly doing this."

"Is that all, my Lord?"

"Yes." He bowed and turned to leave but I remembered something so I stopped him. "Get some girls here. I'm bored." I ordered.

"Okay my Lord." With that he strode out leaving me in my thoughts.

I don't know if I was being paranoid but I feel like something big is coming. That's the reasons why I'm increasing the patrols. The issue is that I can't tell anyone that as they wouldn't accept such a a decision made on my gut feeling so I just didn't say anything to keep up my image. They trusted my judgement anyways.

My thoughts were interrupted when there was a low knock on the door.

"Come in." Three girls walked in while glancing at me shyly innocence displayed on their face.

I raised my brow at their feigned innocence. Why are they acting all coy? Is this some sort of attempt to get my attention?

How foolish. I wasn't in the mood for roleplaying.

"You know what to do so don't just stand there and get to work."

They nodded as they started shimmying sexily all the innocence replaced with a thirsty look.

One of them crawled on the bed slowly before stopping between my legs. Her fingers trailed up before stopping right above my member.

I had to admit that they were pretty. I was already getting harder.

Suddenly the door burst open and I rose alertly, my eyes coloring as I got ready to tear the intruder apart.

I relaxed when I noticed that it was just Sally but my eyes blazed as anger coursed through me.

"How dare you barge into my room like that?"

She immediately bowed shaking in fear. "I'm sorry my lord. I heard that you needed someone to serve you so I rushed all the way here. I wanted to knock but in my haste, I tripped and mistakenly opened the door too hard."

I knew she was lying. I wasn't a fool but as I looked at her weak demeanor and beautiful face, I let it be.

She was truly what one would call a beauty that could topple nations. Her blind locks swayed gently with every movement she made. Her green eyes were alluring especially when she gazed at me with fiery eyes. Her heart shaped pink lips seemed to call to me as she nibbled on it. "The elders have summoned you. They demand that you show up as it's very urgent."
