Chapter 5 Five

Scarlett trudged out of her room as soon as she freshened up when Remy left. Thinking about the clothes she had given her to wear, she was sure after the date, she and Jed would be rolling in between the duvet.

Maybe they would be making pups before the end of today.

Then, she would become an aunt to an insanely cute nephew or niece.

She rolled her eyes while shaking her head as she conjured an image of Remy heavy with the child and Jed by her side.

Everyone she knew had a mate. She didn't know if Jed and Remy had realised they were meant to be yet. One glance at them during one of the sneaking out she had done confirmed they were mates.

Yet, both were oblivious.

Scarlett knew Remy very much wanted to be with Jed, but he was oblivious to her feelings.

All men were that way, especially in the werewolf world. The people that wanted them wouldn't even bat an eye in their direction while those that detested them were the ones they would be busy pursuing.

Just like Kadon.

She wouldn't say Jenna detested him. She could see they wanted each other. Still, she wanted him, too.

She had felt something with him. She doubted if he had felt the same way. She knew if it wasn't for Jenna's interruption, she would have gotten to know more about him, and maybe she would have seen him again.

Rather than having a nonsensical fantasy about him and not sure the part of the world he was from.

Scarlett squinted while staring at the cloudless sky. Yesterday, what happened wasn't exactly a storm like she had mentioned earlier. It wasn't even close to one.

She shivered while remembering the last storm that had happened. She didn't want to recall the damages it had done to all of the divisions present in Wandering Height. Theirs was the worst, and it had taken a long time for everyone, especially her, to heal from the havoc it had caused.

She grimaced while a bit of the event that unfolded that day penetrated her mind. As much as she wanted to forget it, she couldn't. The storm hadn't come alone, and it had brought with it hunters and the foes of their division.

They weren't prepared for battle and had been caught unaware. She was glad their pack had managed to fight off the attackers even as there were great casualties within them.

Children's and teen's laughter pierced her ears as they tossed snowballs at each other.

It was at the time of the year that snow often appeared. Yesterday's storm was a warning for the incoming snow.

She exhaled, then inhaled. She tugged her hands around her body as the chilly wind began to blow.

Despite the natural body warmth she possessed because she was a werewolf, she still felt cold.

She glanced around and noticed everyone was up and about doing their daily activities. Some were even shirtless and had no footwear on.

She realized she was the only one the frigid air was affecting. Even though she was in a woolly sweater, beanie, high-waisted jeans, and uggs, she was still cold.

Her teeth clattered while staring at the goosebumps starting to form on her skin.

She had even donned a pair of earmuffs and gloves as she noticed how chilly it was outside.

She had received a considerably weird look as soon as I stepped outside. Cassie, one of the Delta- - who happened to be her friend, had walked up to ask why she was in overalls whereas she was wearing just a freaking tank top.

Scarlett had ignored her questions. But she was still envious. A lot of people were out in just a little clothing, and she was here in all she could wear to a freaking winter night party. However, it did no good.

The last time a goosebump had appeared on my skin was when she encountered him.

"Kadon." She breathed out as a tiny snowflake fell on my face.

Aside from the sexual fantasy from this morning, which had made her mention his name. She had vowed not to anymore.

It was not because he offended her. It was because he had a Fiancée. A freaking Fiancée! And she was hoping he could be her mate and they could have a lot of fun together while making a lot of babies for the pack.

It was absurd while thinking about it now. How could she have feelings for just a stranger at first sight?

Why was she pissed that he had a fiancée?

It wasn't like he had asked her out, or maybe they knew each other before.

Nonetheless, she couldn't help but be furious and, at the same time, sad.

"A penny for your thoughts, darling?"

Scarlett jumped, almost falling out of the swing at the sound of her Dad's voice. She glared while turning to face him.

He wasn't a big man, but his voice was. It packed a decibel, and he could scare anyone with it.

"What are you thinking about?" His piercing green eyes, which she had gotten from him, twinkled.

"Nothing, Dad," She said, then glanced away.

Her dad had a way of knowing what she was thinking. He couldn't read minds, nor did he have any major power to make him stand out as an Alpha.

When she asked the reason, he was chosen since Alpha's were very powerful and there was hardly anyone in the Pack that could beat them.

Her dad wasn't lazy, but her strength and his were on par. If she concentrated a little more during the training they often had, she was sure she would be able to defeat him.

Technically, she had been told the tribe saw that he was worthy, and the moon goddess had chosen him too, which was absurd to her.

If it was left to her, she would have chosen someone younger and extremely good-looking, like Kadon.

She grimaced as the image of his smiling face popped into her head.

Please, go away. She muttered, shaking her head.

"Should I leave?"

"No, not you." Scarlett tugged his hand as he was about to stand from the swing seat.

"I was just thinking about something," She added as he began to stare at her intently.

Even though he did not have much strength left in him, her father was an intelligent man. Sooner or later, he was going to figure out what she was hiding from him.

But, before then, she was sure she would have gotten over Kadon's freaking face that kept on popping up in her mind without announcement.

Maybe, she should think about his bitchy Fiancee. She believed that would help put a hold on how she was feeling about him.

"You know you can tell me anything," Dad said.

Scarlett nodded while staring at the glint still present in his eyes.

"Of course." She grinned.

Then, she switched the subject to forget about her dilemma. She was aware it would work only for a few minutes, and when she was alone again, his face would pop up like it had been doing.

Worst still, she was going to have a freaking fantasy about him doing dirty things to her.
