Chapter 2 Makenzie Was Hit

Eliza hung up the phone and softly ran her fingers over its surface.

She could almost sense Makenzie's belief that she had everything under control.

This pleased Eliza.

Without rushing, she crafted a post meant for someone special on social media.

Meanwhile, Makenzie, witnessing Eliza hang up, couldn't suppress a chuckle.

The man beside her nibbled at her ear, teasing, "Don't you think you're being a bit wicked?"

"It's fine. Eliza's been easy to manipulate since we were kids. She's bound to just take it, considering both the Scott and Bailey families' interests," Makenzie retorted with confidence. Then, turning to face Rhett, she wrapped her arms around his neck. "Once you take over the Scott Group, ditch her and marry me."

Rhett embraced her reassuringly. "Don't worry. How can I forget you?"

Content with his assurance, Makenzie smiled.

Meanwhile, Eliza, now tasked with overseeing the Scott Group, donned a mask before heading to the office.

An assistant greeted her with a wheelchair. After a short rest in the lounge, she donned a hat and mask and was wheeled into the meeting room.

The senior executives, already assembled, noted their boss's consistent disguise with a hat and mask.

She would only occasionally reveal her face after leaving the company grounds, a quirk they had all grown accustomed to.

Following the meeting, Eliza made her way back to the Scott family home.

On her way, Eliza got a call from Rhett. "I need you at Nexus Group."

Then he just hung up without giving any details.

She told the driver to head there.

As they drove, she shared her location live, but only that someone special could see it.

Leaning against the window, Eliza started to doze off.

She was dealing with a hangover from drinking too much the night before. Her health wasn't the best, and the wild sex last night had taken its toll on her.

Suddenly, a loud crash jolted her awake. The driver's airbag deployed with a pop.

Eliza, sitting in the back, couldn't avoid the impact. The airbag of the luxury car unfolded, covering her completely.

After a quick check, she looked up to see a red Maserati in front of them.

It had an odd-looking car bumper on the front that seemed out of place.

The driver, a woman in a red dress and high heels, stepped out and started snapping pictures of Eliza with her phone.

Eliza recognized her immediately and asked, feigning panic, "Makenzie, what are you doing?"

With a smirk, Makenzie responded, "The man I arranged claimed he didn't sleep with you last night. So, who was it? I've been looking all day and still have no clue. How about we share your photos and see if he comes forward?"

Then she reached out and ripped Eliza's clothes, exposing the marks on her neck.

"Looks like you had a wild night. These marks have turned purple," Makenzie noted with a mix of awe and sarcasm.

She was eager to snap some photos.

Eliza, appearing embarrassed yet powerless, tried to block the camera with her hand. It didn't help. After a few futile attempts, she let her arms fall, resigned.

Makenzie couldn't hide her amusement at the sight.

The photos made it online, but only for a brief moment before they were taken down.

This piqued Makenzie's curiosity.

She stood by the car, tampering with her phone, and shot a piercing glance as she demanded, "Hey, what did you do to my account? I can't post these photos now."

Eliza, with a slight smile, barely glanced in her direction.

Out of nowhere, a car sped toward them.

It came so quickly. Makenzie was hit and sent flying dozens of feet, landing on a distant lawn, still.

Eliza was in shock.

After hitting Makenzie, the car slowly backed up.

Behind the wheel was Kyson's assistant, Rylan Higgins, who had driven her home last night.

Kyson was in the back seat, looking on.

Feeling like this was a stroke of bad luck, he glanced at Eliza through the half-lowered window and instructed his assistant, "Change the car."
