Chapter 5 Chapter 5 The right way to apologize

In the morning, as soon as Leah walked out of the room, she met Emily.

The woman only wore a white shirt, and her slender legs were partly hidden and partly visible. The buttons on her chest were unbuttoned, and her black curly hair fell on her shoulders, in contrast to her snow-white skin. She was both pure and gorgeous as if she was a top model coming out of a magazine.

Emily was really beautiful.

Without wanting to meet her, Leah turned around and was about to walk in the opposite direction, but was stopped by Emily.

"We have met before. You should remember me."

Emily stood behind Leah with a smile and looked at her like the hostess.

"I saw the news this morning that your grandfather passed away."

In front of Leah, Emily was not as tender as she was with Mark. The corners of her mouth were tinged with a smile, but her eyes were full of disdain.

"What do you want to say?"

Leah turned around and asked coldly.

"I'm sorry to make your grandfather die with regret. After all, on the night he died, Mark was still with me."

"Sorry?" raising her eyebrows, Leah suddenly walked up to Emily and slapped her hard across the face. "This is the way to apologize."

"How dare you hit me?"

Stunned by the slap, Emily covered her face in disbelief and stared at Leah. "Do you know what price you will pay?"

The obedient look on Leah's face was completely gone. At this moment, her eyes were full of coldness, and her powerful aura also shocked Emily.

"So far, Mark and I are still legal couples. If you dare to provoke me again, I don't mind letting you become famous in society."

"Famous in another way."

"It turns out that you are so domineering in private!"

A cold and deep voice came from behind Emily.

He walked to Emily and stood on the same side with her to face Leah.

"It must have been hard for you at the Lyman's after three years of pretending to be good, haven't you?"

Leah disdained arguing with him. If it weren't for the divorce agreement, Leah would have left.

She turned around and walked to the corner of the stairs. Suddenly, she stopped. With her slender and white fingers on the handrail, then Leah raised her voice. "In the past three years, I did feel hard. Youth and time were fed to the donkey. How can I not feel wronged?"

"Leah!"

Mark gritted his teeth and called her name. His face was not good, obviously, he was very angry with her.

'What's wrong with this woman? Why does she suddenly change her personality and become so unreasonable?' Mark thought to himself.

After the chaos of these several days, Grandma Lyman also fell ill.

When the maid Linda came to tell Leah, she didn't dare to look into Leah's eyes and kept her head down.

"Madame, we didn't know your grandfather's death until this morning. How could you bear such a big thing alone?"

"It's all over. I don't want to talk about it anymore."

Leah thought for a while and said, "I'm going to see Grandma."

Linda wanted to say something but stopped on a second thought. In the end, she didn't say anything and hurried to follow Leah.

As it was just after Christmas, the house had been decorated with a lively atmosphere.

However, Grandma Lyman was lying on the bed, pale and not energetic like in the past.

Such a comparison made Leah feel sad.

With her eyes slightly moist, Leah calmed down and walked to the bedside of Grandma Lyman. As soon as she sat down, Grandma Lyman held her hand.

"Leah, I have known your grandfather's matter. Good girl, you have suffered too much these days."

"Grandma, let the doctor check on you."

"No." Grandma Lyman waved her hand and coughed. "Just an old problem. What I worry about is that now that you and Mark are like this, how could I gonna tell your grandpa when I get to heaven? Maybe he'll blame me, too."

Leah didn't dare to say anything. Her eyes were wet when she heard the word "Grandpa". She was afraid that as soon as she spoke, tears would fall like rain and never stop.

Seeing her silent.

Grandma Lyman's eyes were full of pity. She patted the back of her hand and said, "Good girl. I'm old and confused. That cup of tea..."

"Grandma, no matter what happens, I will divorce Mark. It won't change."

Leah knew what Grandma Lyman meant at a glance and pointed it out directly.

Grandma Lyman smiled bitterly, "Okay, I won't force you. You can leave after the birthday banquet."

Mark had been a little upset since Leah proposed to divorce.

He thought he would be happy, but on the contrary, he was not used to her change.

When his mind was a mess, the sound of fireworks suddenly came from outside the window. Mark stood up and walked to the window in the familiar direction, but he accidentally bumped into something and felt pain in his knees. He frowned and was not angry yet.

The servant came in as soon as she heard the noise.

"Sir, I'm sorry. I'll move it away right away!"

"What is it?"Mark asked unhappily

"It's a floor lamp bought by Miss Nolan. She said that your study was too empty and wanted to add something."

Mark pressed his thin lips tightly, and the coldness on his face almost scared the servant to cry.

"I told Miss Nolan that Madame removed all the things for your convenience, but Miss Nolan didn't listen to me."

"Get out."

The servant was relieved and hurried out of the study with the floor lamp.

Mark touched the thick corner of the table, with a complicated expression in his eyes.

After he had a car accident, he had a bad temper and drove everyone around him away. No one dared to approach him.

Only Leah stubbornly accompanied him through all the corners of the house, making him feel his way in the darkness.

But now, they finally came to the stage of divorce.

Mark didn't understand why he still couldn't fall in love with Leah in the past three years.

"Sir."

The servant came back again. Her voice made Mark frown and ask impatiently, "What's the matter?"

"There is one thing I think I should tell you."

"Today's News reported that something happened to Madame's family. On Christmas night, her grandfather passed away. I think you should know about it."

Mark was stunned and put his hand on the table stiffly.

Her grandfather passed away on Christmas night?

The servant swallowed nervously, daring not to figure out Mark's mood, and hurried out.

Sitting on the windowsill, Leah curled up and looked at the fireworks in the night sky with a cold expression on her face.

The radiant fireworks only made her feel as if a knife were piercing her heart.

More and more people began to set off fireworks. Her ears were filled with the sound of fireworks. With her eyes slightly closed, Leah covered her ears tightly.

After a long time, the fireworks finally stopped.

Her cell phone suddenly rang. Leah was stunned for a while before she went to take it.

The name Steven Thompson was on the phone's screen.

Leah didn't want to answer it. However, the person on the other end of the line was stubborn. He called her again and again until she was about to turn off her phone. At this time, s message popped up.

[Why don't you answer it? I'll wait for you in my shorts in the snow!]

At last, Leah answered the phone.

A clear voice came through the phone, "Leah, I'm at the door of the Lyman family now. Come down. I want to see you!"
