Chapter 5 Operation Theatre

Arene's POV

The speed my body was functioning at, I had never experienced this in the whole 27 years of my life...never. I had changed into the surgical gown and was standing in front of him in no time.

But there was one thing, which was out of my control- even after doing every required procedure, his vitals were not getting stable, not even slightly in the normal range so that I could search for any internal injuries.

'Something is wrong, something is definitely wrong, but I can't find out what, without getting his blood sample results.'

I basically knew nothing about his medical history, and the most important thing was his blood group- his blood group was not available in any nearby hospital either.

'How is this possible, when he doesn't even have a rare blood group...but I need to do something fast...think Arene, think!

You have to answer Arin, so think.'

Repeating this in my mind like a chant, I did the stupidest thing I could ever choose to do!

I cut him open from the portion of his lower abdomen where the bleeding was not stopping, even after knowing that his vitals were not stable.

Now this case was in only two sets of hands- one, those of God, and the other pair was busy finding the vein, which I doubted to have ruptured.

After four years and promising myself to never do this operation ever again, I was performing the same operation...in the same hospital...in the same room- and what was definitely a coincidence, on the same day!

'But this time, I will not give up. My hands will not shake for even a second this time. I will not let him die...no!'

I was pushed out of my thoughts when I found a piece of what seemed to be the tip of a silver knife, buried in his stomach.

'That's it? No ruptured vein, nothing else at all?!'

His vitals started to get readily stable the moment I pulled that piece out of his body.

Closing his cuts and cleaning all the blood, I instructed the nurse standing by my side to help me and mark down in red and bold letters in his medical file : 'Allergic to silver'.

"And I will be leaving for some time as Arin is also here with me, call me if anything happens or if he gains consciousness."

"Okay ma'am."

I didn't respond as I walked out.

I know, responding to her was a show of courtesy and a familiar gesture to treat your staff nicely, as you are a nice person.

But I was neither of them: firstly, I was not a nice person; and secondly, I had never been fond of wasting my energy in the form of words!

So I did what I have been doing from the very start, without any remark or appreciation.

"Mumma, mumma!"

The moment I reached the playroom for babies after changing out of my surgical gowns, I found my son colliding with my legs due to him not being able to stop himself in time.

'I know, I know. I am definitely whipped for my son and his cuteness, but tell me who won't be, when he is so small?'

"Arin, let's go home."

I spoke, picking him up in my embrace.

"Home? Home! Now, leaving daddy alone?"

It was his first question, so I asked the second one in reply.

"Then why didn't you ask me about how your dad is first, if you are not willing to leave him alone and go home?"

"Because, I know mumma has saved daddy, she already told me that she won't let anything happen to him. I tlust you mumma. I love you."

"Aww, my baby. I love you too."

I kissed his cheeks in reply and placed his head on my shoulder gently.

'He trusts me...my son trusts me. These were the most precious words I had heard in the last four years- he trusts me, and yes I won't let him down...ever!

"Then how are you going to find him a dad?"

A voice echoed from within my hollow self.

"Can't you see, he already has one now!"

Another voice rang in my mind.

"Oh really? Does he have any clue- in fact, a little while ago, were you yourself even aware that he is allergic to silver? Think again, are you sure that he doesn't have a family and won't be returning wherever it is that he has arrived from?!"

"Shut up! You just have a habit of jinxing everything. He probably doesn't have any family and will stay after listening to my offer. I am willing to give him a fortune!"

"Bravo! Aren't you supposed to be the personification of her angelic thoughts, then how is your brain working equivalent to the king of Demons?" '

The two voices were busy bickering inside my head, when Arin spoke again.

"Mumma, now daddy is fine and I am hungly and daddy and mumma is also hungly, when can we take daddy home?"

"Arin, honey, Daddy needs rest now. He will be staying here for some more days, till he gets completely fine! Let's go home-"

"Leaving daddy here? All alone?"

He asked the same question again.

"No silly! I will be returning later to take care of daddy."

I replied, hoping that this would be the end of it, for now.

"Then Alin will be also hele, because mumma takes cale of daddy, Alin take cales of mumma."

As he finished his sentence, I don't know how he mustered enough strength to jump out of my embrace, making me bend forward. With his small but surprisingly agile legs, he ran towards the wards he had seen me rushing towards, without giving me any chance to catch him beforehand out of my delayed shock response.

Rain's POV

"Daddy, daddy, wake up, wake up. I am here, and I love you."

A lilting voice echoed in my ears.

'Who is here, and who loves whom!?'

I was not able to open my eyes yet, but I was aware that I was recovering real quick.

But how did someone know how to cure me, because even in my state, I could tell with certainty that I was not near any werewolf medic clan!

'There was no evident smell here, no herbs...no potions, everything here was smelling the same as the human hospitals did...then how had I been treated?'

I was trying to find the answers to my questions and trying to ascertain where I could be, when I found small fingers touching my forehead. This was followed by a string of words, as the owner of the small fingers was still not capable of forming correct sentences.

"Daddy, you have fever? No! You only have boo-boo, wake up, wake up! Mumma has put the ointment on youl boo-boo. So wake up, wake up...we have to go home. I am hungly, mumma is hungly, and you ale also hungly. We need to go home-"

"Arin, baby step aside!"

The fumbling voice was interrupted by a sweet voice, and the room again started to fill with the same fragrance I had encountered right before blacking out.

"Mumma! See, daddy is not waking up-"

The cute voice rang out again, in a concerned tone.

'Both the voices are indeed sweet- but wait! Mumma, baby...daddy...DADDY? Who? Where- I? How!?'
