Chapter 5 You Are A Gigolo

Sheila had talked to over fifty guys online in just half a day.

She picked out men carefully and set up meetings with a few to get to know them better. Yet, after waiting for hours in a café, none showed up.

Sheila had no choice but to try another social app.

"How surprising!"

A sexy and attractive voice broke into Sheila's thoughts.

Looking up, Sheila saw the gigolo from last night, dressed casually with one hand in his pocket, approaching with a confident stride.

"Are you here by yourself? Mind if I join you?"

Remembering their night together, Sheila declined, "Sorry, this seat is taken!"

Shane, undeterred by her refusal, smiled and sat down gracefully across from her. "I heard you're in the market for a husband?"

Sheila looked at him cautiously. "How do you know that?"

Shane replied with a question, his voice smooth, "After our night together, don't you think we know each other better than you know those other men? Why not consider me?"

Seeing his calmness, Sheila thought about the unreliable men who had stood her up.

With a cold stare, she questioned, "Did Rita put you up to this?"

Shane looked puzzled. "Rita? Who's that?"

"Don't play dumb! I know the whole setup. Rita hired you to have sex with me last night! What's she paying you to marry me?"

Sheila couldn't grasp why someone like him would even think of trading marriage for money!

Sensing her contempt, Shane got annoyed. "What kind of man do you think I am?"

"I doubt you are a decent man," Sheila said, her smile full of disdain. She put some money on the table. "This should cover my coffee. Tell Rita I won't fall for her tricks again after losing once!"

With those words, Sheila stood up, ready to leave with decisive steps. But as she walked past him, he unexpectedly caught her wrist and pulled her back with force.

Suddenly, she was in his arms, sitting on his lap against her will.

He held her waist tightly, making it impossible for her to break free.

His strong scent overwhelmed her, confusing her thoughts. Frustrated, she pushed against his chest. "What are you doing? Release me!"

"Release you? Alright, but first explain why you think I'm not a decent person." Shane watched her attempts to free herself, amused as if she were a playful kitten. However, his gaze intensified as he felt her body brushing against his own.

Feeling the change in Shane's demeanor, Sheila stopped struggling and met his gaze. "You exploited my situation for money and planned to record it. Does that sound like a decent person's actions?"

"You might want to be grateful it was me you encountered that night."

Curious, Sheila asked, "What do you mean by that?"

"I looked into the hotel's security footage. After you passed out, there was a man with a camera lurking around, probably the gigolo you hinted. It turns out I unintentionally saved you."

"Are you serious?" Sheila asked, couldn't believe it.

To prove his point, Shane placed his phone on the table.

"See it for yourself."

Sheila picked up the phone with doubt and watched the video.

It showed a middle-aged man with a camera, eyeing Sheila ominously.

Only when Sheila stumbled into Shane and they went into the room when the man left.

She shuddered, realizing the danger she had been in.

Not only did Rita drug her, but she also arranged for a sleazy and disgusting gigolo to harm her.

The possible repercussions of him recording their intimacy were beyond her imagination.

"Why were you at the hotel if you weren't sent by Rita? The Evans family booked it for their engagement party last night, and you needed an invitation to get in!"

The hotel's top floor was Shane's private spot year-round. After a bit of drinking at a nearby event the night before, he opted to crash at this nearby hotel for some rest. He never imagined he'd bump into that bold old woman who drugged him.

Sheila looked at him intently and then asked, "So, that old rich lady the previous night was actually your client?"

She felt a mix of clarity and confusion.

What caused them to fall out last night? Was it a disagreement over money? Or did he change his mind because he found the wealthy lady unattractive?

Shane's forehead showed visible veins as he laughed, annoyed. "You have quite the imagination!"

Did his laughter confirm something?

Sheila observed him closely, then firmly said, "It doesn't matter. If you're not involved with Rita, I'm willing to overlook it. Follow me."

Seeing her change her stance so suddenly, Shane became intrigued. "Where to?"

"You're interested in marrying, right? Let's go get married. Now!"
