Chapter 5 The Father Of My Child

Even though Sonia pleaded with me to skip work for today I insisted on going because I know vthat staying there will make everything worse. I might even get sicker as I will be thinking of the possiblity of Sonia's assumptions being true. After my first part time job for the day I decided to visit the hospital, I have to free my mind off this before I run mad.

"Hello madam, how can I help you." The nurse standing in the counter asked with a bright smile.

"I want to under go pregnancy test." I said without beating around the bush. My heart began to bound rapidly against my ribcage at the mention of that.

"Please have a sit over here, someone will attend to you in a minute."She pointed a long bench for me and I sat on it.

Almost immediately a nurse walked towards me, "Please follow me." She requested and I stood up and tailed behind her. She walked into a room and stood by the door for me to enter before closing the door.

"Please sit."She said as she brought out a stringe and fixed a needle on it after which she extracted my blood. She gave me a container then showed me to the bathroom. I quickly released my bladder on the container after a while I walked out of the bathroom then handed it over to her.

"The urine test will be ready in thirty minutes but then the blood test will be ready by tomorrow."She announced and I nodded.

I walked back to the waiting area and sat with my heart palpitating and beads of sweat formed on my forehead. At a point I couldn't help standing up from the bench and heading back to the room. It felt as though it's been ages now.

"Miss Mark." A voice called out from behind and I turned towards it.

"Where are you heading to?" That must be a rhetorical question as she didn't let me answer her before she continued.

"The result is out and big congratulations, you're going to be a mother soon!" At that statement my body felt too heavy for me to carry and my legs became wobbly.

"Hey miss, what's the matter?" The nurse rushed to me and held me by the waist. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I tried to calm my shattered emotions.

"You're not in a good state, you should take a room so we can properly take care of you." The nurse suggested.

"Thanks for your suggestion, but I'm fine."I replied as I stood up without her support and rushed out of the hospital. The minute I walked out of the hospital gate, I hauled down a taxi.

What will become of me right now? How will I survive with this child? I barely have enough money for my mom's bills and now this? I can't bring in a child into the world to suffer,it will be unfair to my child to do that. There's no possibility of ever meeting the father of my kid so what's the point of suffeeing alone, is not like I bargained for this.

"Madam, We are here." The driver announced and I looked out from the rear mirror and realized we're already in the Stars company where Sonia works. I walked out of the car immediately and paid the driver before rushing into the company. Thankfully it's there lunch time. "I'm here to see Sonia from the marketing department."I said to the receptionist who dialed something on her computer screen and after a while asked me to sit as she'll be here soon.

Even when I try to take my mind off this, I just can't. To be candid I only came here to tell Sonia about this and then my plan of getting rid of it as soon as possible. I might sound selfish to many right now but no one should blame me, I ain't thinking if the present right now but the future. It might not be so hard to carry the child in my womb and give birth to the child but then what of cartering for the child after birth?

"You decided to come see me..." she swallowed her words when she noticed how down casted I looked.

"Babe, what's the matter?" She inquired as she walked closer to me.

"I need a tight hug."I replied as cloud of tears formed in my eyes. She hugged me immediately and sobbed like a baby on her shoulders. After a while we broke the hug. She wiped my face with her hand towel then held my hands and we walked towards the cafeteria.

"Let me bring something for us." She said and tried walking out but then I held her hand and she turned to me with a questioning gaze.

"Please let's talk, I don't have an appetite." I promulgated and she slowly adjusted her seat then sat on it.

"From your parlance, I guess it's positive. What do you plan on doing next?" She asked, hitting the nail on it's head just with that start and I really appreciate that.

"You very well understands my financial situation,I can barely catee for myself. Sonia I can't do this but then I feel so selfish if I abort the life growing in me."I cried out and she walked towards my seat and held my shoulder in a consoling manner.

"It's not like you ready and badly wants to do that, it isn't your fault in anyway, so quit putting the blame on yourself."She said so as to make me feel better but to be frank that did little to nothing in lifting my mood.

"Please what should I get for you?"The waitress that walked towards our table asked.

She took the menu and pointed two different dishes for the waitress after which he walked out. "Trust me when I say that I understand you and I support your decision, after all we might never meet the father."she added but that didn't make the guilt I was feeling any lesser.

After eating with her, she went back to work and I haul down a taxi outside her office. I need to go back to the hospital and get things done as I might change my mind if it exceeds today. Reaching in the hospital, I ran to the receptionist. "Where is the gynecologist office?"I inquired.

"Third floor room 105."She replied with her usual smile.

"Thanks." I smiled back at her and walked to the elevator and pressed the third botton then walked in. It was as though the elevator sensed that I wanted to rest on it because it didn't even let me shut my eyes for a minute before it opened. I signed and walked out.

I located the office and knocked twice on it before pushing it open. A lady in her middle age sat on a swivel chair. She looked up at me and smiled in a welcoming manner. "Welcome dear, please have a seat." She said and I nodded.

"How may I help you?" She inquired as she raised her lens to her forehead.

"I want to undergo an abortion."I annouced and she stared skeptically at me.

"Why do you want to do that?Can I see your doctor's report?" She inquired with a different expression far from what I saw when I walked in here.

"Trust me, I don't love that I'm here for this, I don't have enough money to Carter for a baby now and I don't know where to find the father." I stated and she nodded as she wrote something down on the book.

"Let's go run some certain test on you and also know how many months gone you are. Then you must note that the father of the child myst be present or a guardian." She stated with a frown as she stood up and I followed suit.

After the test and scan we walked back into her office and she sat down staring at the result in her hands. "Young lady, I'm sorry to announce to you that you can't abort this child, the first reason is that your fallopian tubes are too weak. It's a miracle that your womb carried this child. If you abort it, it will cause you a lot of damage. Might probably lead to your death and if it doesn't, be rest assured that you can't bear a child again." She concluded while still going through the papers.

"As a professional, I can't help you. I advise you love and cherish your child, accept the child after all you're three months gone already." She said with a smile and I stood up immediately and walked out.

Time flied so fast and I went for my part time job at the Elites restaurant. My mind was filled up with different thoughts as I served the customers their drinks. Some of them that tried to start up a conversation, was forced to take their words home. I kept staring at my wrist watch and today of all days it seemed as though the time refused to move.

"Hey, Chantel,take a bottle of bourbon to the VIP area, be fast about that." My manager said to me and I nodded as I took a bottle of bourbon from the bar and rushed out to the VIP area.

Reaching at the entrance, I was forced to stand at a spot as my eyes sighted Zeker, he sat gloriously on a seat with his eyes fixed on his phone screen. He's the only one here, as though he reserved the entire place. My heart began to palpitate loudly, and my legs became to titer. This is the right opportunity to tell him about his child. I might not have this opportunity again.

He turned towards my direction as though sensing my presence and our eyes met. I heaved a deep sigh and walked towards him and drooped the bottle of bourbon on the table. His eyes followed my moves even as I opened the bottle and poured the drink into his cup.

"We need to talk."I mustered the courage to said.

"Then have a seat." He suggested and I reluctantly sat down.

"How have you been?" He asked and I mouthed a fine as I ain't here for that.

"I'm pregnant."I dropped the bombshell making sure our eyes locked as I said that.
