Chapter 4 A Cold-hearted Husband

The bodyguard hesitated briefly. Then, recalling something, he replied, "Mr. Scott, after your car accident, we went back to find her. However, the woman is nowhere to be found, and your token remains elusive."

A flicker of icy darkness crossed Julian's gaze. "Pathetic. You can't even manage such a trivial affair. Send all of our people out. You must locate her at any expense."

Prior to the car accident, he had forced a woman into having sex.

In that moment, he was under the influence of drugs and disoriented. Following the incident, he quickly departed. Upon his return after resolving matters, the woman was nowhere to be found.

He had pledged to take responsibility for her, but now...

Corinne's face intruded into his thoughts, stoking the flames of his rage. He was determined to divorce this audacious woman.

The bodyguard paused before suggesting, "Mr. Scott, given the circumstances, your mother desires your marriage and the continuation of the family line. Why not acquiesce? Moreover, considering your mother's ailing health..."

Julian declared icily, "I made a commitment to marry that woman, and I intend to honor it. Issue a reward. Announce the disappearance of the Scott family's master token, offering a bounty of two million. She was the sole occupant of that room; she must be responsible."

"Understood," the bodyguard acknowledged in a hushed tone.

Shortly after, the doctor arrived and conducted a comprehensive examination of Julian. Save for minor irregularities in some readings, his condition was pristine.

Once dressed, Julian fixed the doctor with a chilly gaze. "Do you possess any contraceptive medication?"

The doctor was taken aback.

Corinne's mind swirled in chaos as she absentmindedly toyed with the necklace bearing the initials "JS."

Julian's awakening threw a wrench into her plans. She had contemplated that if she could conceive during the medication's influence and secure the $300 million bride price, she could leverage the Scott family's wealth and influence against her uncle.

With Julian waking up, the stakes were raised significantly. He was evidently not someone to be trifled with and couldn't be easily deceived.

A resounding bang echoed through the room.

Suddenly, the door to her room burst open. Hastily, she concealed the necklace in a drawer and sprang to her feet. Outside, a figure sat in a wheelchair, his pallid complexion reminiscent of a vampire, his frigid gaze boring into Corinne.

"You-"

"Administer the medication." Julian's voice dripped with icy disdain, not deigning to spare her a second glance.

Corinne's body quivered involuntarily. "What medication?"

The bodyguards surged forward, seizing Corinne.

Corinne's breath hitched slightly. "What are you doing?"

Julian's stern expression intensified as he locked his cold gaze on Corinne. "Do you truly believe I would allow a woman with impure intentions like you to carry my child?"

Corinne's fingers tightened into fists. He was correct. Her motives were far from pure, yet she felt she had no alternative.

She couldn't ingest this medication. She had to conceive.

"I won't take it."

"You have no say in this matter. Force her mouth open!" Julian's voice was glacial and commanding.

Corinne attempted to resist, but her throat was seized, compelling her to yield. Tears brimmed in her eyes, overwhelmed by the realization of Julian's cruelty and ruthlessness, as widely rumored.

As the housemaid reached for a pill and moved to insert it into her mouth, a sudden command halted her.

"Stop!"

A cold rebuke echoed instantly through the room.
