Chapter 3 The prophecy

Several years ago...

It rained heavingly that night, like there was this new era being ushered in.The women hurried into the shelter holding a lamp and clothes. The cries of the heavy woman could be heard from every distance within the shelter.

The gray-haired witch, who was once rejected by the people of the community, but become their very means of survival after the great battle of the worlds, walked into the compound, holding a scroll in her hand.

She went into the shelter and excused all but one of the women. After they had all evacuated, she cast a spell on the door, and it locked.

"This child will face rejection"she said to the woman in labour. She wore a smile on her face while cleaning off the sweat on the woman's head."This child is a new order, brought to us by the gods"she added.

The lady standing at the other end of the room seeked clarification, then she continued.

"My time here is up.And this world cannot be left without balance. Now the gods have sent us a gift, something different...from witches"she said. Her old, crooked voice made the story sound more pleasing, and for some Reasons, the woman in labour was calm, listening to her speak.

"A new order?I thought you said my child would carry on your legacy"

"Yes...I did say that"the gray-haired witch replied the woman in labour."But the gods decided to bless us with something different. This child shall have two forms, that of a human, and that of an animal, having full strength in the full moon, just like that of tonight"she looked at the moon through the small opening on the room, which let rays of the moon light escape into the room.Your child................is the beginning of the new order"her smile grew wider."he's ready"she said to the lady.

The pains returned, and the woman in labour let out a seemingly loud cry.She was given a cloth to bite down on,while the lady did the rest.

Without much difficulty, the child slipped out, onto the hands of the lady. The witch gently wrapped the child with the cloth and took her in her arms.

The rain got heavier than usual. The atmosphere was disturbed by lightening, causing fright. The scroll fell and rolled open. The gray-haired witches' eye turned black completely as she raised the child in the air.

"From this lineage, shall come the blood of redemption. The blood of the Redeemer shall cleanse the curse of the thousand witches, returning balance to this world.

For every soul stolen by the cursed tree,a new order, other than that of the gods will be made.Something more deadly than cruel.

The faith of the worlds, lies in the hands of the Redeemer"

She completed and staggered a bit, before getting support from the lady, who took the child and gave it to the mother.

"You should go,now! The other world has a witch on their side, who has probably seen the birth of your child.Run,and hide in the mountains"she instructed them.

They both gathered their bags, but the witch took it away."you'll need all your strength. There's some one waiting for you in the mountains"she informed.

The lady helped the mother and her child, and they both left through the back door.

The witch unlocked the door with a spell and walked out of the room. They were already here.

The other world exists of spirits, who kill and take full control of their victims body.

The community members had been killed, and what stood before the gray-haired witch, were the spirits from the other world, which had possessed them.

The witch began enchanting a spell as they approached her. They got so close to her,and in no time, there was a wide outburst of fire, which engulfed every area, leaving no one alive.

DANIEL'S P.O.V

I knelt infront of the grave, burying my hand in the sand.My cloth was getting soaked by the rain which had just begun few minutes after I had arrived the cemetery, unluckily,I had no umbrella.

Whosoever carved the grave stone of my younger brother did a perfect job in the writing of his unending names.Even if he wasn't my blood brother,I loved him like my own,and owed him so much respect.Regardless his age,he had rescued me from several fights or conflicts.

I took out the rose from my pocket and placed it on his grave.I remember promising myself not to cry,but tears found its way out of eyes.

"I do miss you"I said in tears. There's no worst feeling than using someone you loved. It affects alot in one's life. However, his death was making it the fourth I recorded.I lost my father at ten,my mum at few months later, and my little sister, not dead, but went missing.

He was the last person closest to a family I had, asides Steph.

Steph was Uncle's Vons niece aswell. She grew up with us,learnt faster than any other person and was among the first team to be put in battle.I really did admire her,and her strength, which was the reason I confided only in her when I discovered uncle Von had the scroll and the weird voices In my head whenever I was close to it.

I stopped feeling the rain on my body and looked up. It was Steph. She had an umbrella above my head and was dressed in black as well.

She dropped a bouquet of flower on his grave, then gave me a pendant.

"It's the last thing I have which belongs to me. He asked me to keep to it safe, till he turned 18"

I took the pendant from her.It was a half moon pendant, blue in color.

"Thank you"I whispered into her ear.color.Steph hugged me tightly, before letting me take the umbrella as she opened the other one.

We headed back to where our cars were parked and drove out.

CLINTON'S P.O.V

"Drink this"

"Dad"I was already tired from my father's consistent pestering ever since I got home a night ago. He'd constantly given me a green tea, which I doubted was normal, though it tasted like every other green tea."what's with all these herbs?"

"Precautions"

"That's all you can say?"I asked. He tossed my bag at me and carried his Jacket from his desk.

"There's a weird infection I heard from the medical team that's in town. That's going to prevent you from getting infected"

Although his explanation sounded rathe dumb,I gulped the tea down and dropped the cup in the sink. His phone rang, and he moved to a corner to answer the call. My dad usually answers every of his phone calls before me. Something was really going on.

"Dad"

"Everything's fine, let's go"he grabbed the keys and led the way out of the house.

Today, I was following my dad to his office due to the lockdown in Standford Although I had often expressed my displeasure with working with guns,he still believes every person should have basics in handling a gun.

A message popped up on my phone,it was Ammie.Emily had created a group chat for the four of us,and Ammie had just texted us, telling us her whereabouts.

That reminded me. We were supposed to keep each posted on our whereabouts.I updated them, and Emily replied laughing.

I pocketed my phone as we got to the office. There was a lot of work to be done in my dad's tiny office.Documents were scattered everywhere on the floor. Only his table was properly kept.

"Sit here and wait,I'll be back"he headed back outside.

I began piling up the files, one after the other, when I came across a larger document tagged 'confidential'. I checked to ensure he was actually out of sight, before I locked the door, then proceeded to his desk with the document.

Brendan's mum sipped from her hot coffee, before placing the cup on her knees and squeezing every fear in her into it. She sighted the sheriff from a distance and stood up.

"What's so urgent?"

"Something's wrong with Brendan"she cried. The sheriff could tell she had been crying for some time now.He looked around before leading her to a room opposite his office.

"He's a kid who just resurrected from the dead. He's already gone through a lot but rejection from his mother..."

"I'm not rejecting him!"Brendan's mum realized she was a bit loud and bit her lower lip."He's been saying weird things and speaking to imaginary friends. He needs help"she whispered with fear.

"Ma'am"sheriff started, but stopped as someone walked into the office. He waited for the person to pick whatever he wanted then leave, before he continued."Have you reported to the hospital"

"They said he's completely fine"

"Then you have nothing to worry about"the sheriff assured her. His phone rang in his pocket and he reached for it. Brendan's mum grabbed his hand immediately and began pleading."You need to help me.. please.. please sheriff"

"Just give me a sec"sheriff said and left to take his call.He spent more time outside than expected.By the time he returned, she was gone.

I watched my dad take Brendan's mum into the office opposite his. They looked like they were arguing for sometime, then I saw the lady burst down in tears.

I was already halfway into the documents, taking pictures of every unfinished or strange looking case. I turned to the next page and sat up.It looked like an interesting case, probably because it was mine'.I looked through the files and detached it from the main documents. It contained a hospital report from when I was six. I barely had memories of my younger self, and for some reasons,I believed this was going to reveal alot to me.I heard my dad's voice coming towards the office. Hurriedly,I forced the file into my bag and dropped the document back.

My dad walked in, holding his talkie to his mouth. He disconnected and took out his gun from the first decker of his desk.

"There's been a situation at Wales street, pack up,you're coming with me"

Brendan's mum cleaned the tears off her eyes after the sheriff left to take a call. She took out her phone, typed some things in and left the office.

On getting home, the door was open.Fear engulfed her body as she walked in.

"Brendy"she called out. Some objects were scattered around the house. She picked them up and she moved towards Brendan's room. He wasn't in there. The entrance door closed loudly, frightening her. She hurried back downstairs, but there was noone in sight."Brendan"her voice was shaky. The windows shut on their own, alongside every other door in the house.

She took out her phone and dialed 911, before the phone flew out of her hand and got smashed on the wall.

"You want to get rid of me so quickly"Brendan said from his wheelchair. His mum could feel her lungs tighten as she gasped for air.Brendan wheeled closer to where she stood in tears.

"Brendy,we can fix you"

"Fix me!"his voice sounded distorted. He stood from the wheel chair and walked towards her. She began taking steps back, till she got to the door and began struggling to open it .

"You're weak!"he yelled. His mum screamed as she felt her body leave the floor. She was thrown against the wall twice, before getting allowed to regain little consciousness."But I'll need your body"Brendan said as he reached for her neck.He twisted it,and she seized breathing.

an hour later....

The inspectors crossed the yellow tape, taking shots of various areas of the house.

"Any murder weapon?"Sheriff whispered into the ears of an inspector. She shook her head, negatively, before leaving.

"It must really be difficult for you"he walked up to Brendan's mum,who stood speaking to an inspector. She turned to the sheriff in tears."How about his dad?"

"He's on his way back"she replied before bursting into tears."I didn't expect this to happen",she cried.

The sheriff stood silent, watching her out up her drama. As far as he was concerned, the stories she told didn't add up,and one thing he was best at,was identifying a lie from the truth.

"Please I'ld like you to come to the station later today or tomorrow to give a statement"

"But I'd already done that"

"It's a harmless statement ma'am.Your son needs all the Justice he can get"the Sheriff added.

"Dad"Clinton interrupted. His led his dad all the way to Brendan's room and showed him images sketched on pieces of paper which were scattered on the bed.

"The inspectors didn't see this?"

"I doubt.Found them folded into his pillow"Clinton said.

His dad took up the papers and looked at them.He brought out his phone and scrolled to the image he had taken in the woods. They were corresponding.

"We're heading back to the station"he packed up the papers and they left the room.

Ammie let Emily use her wardrobe as a shopping mall. She'd been speaking of this weird guy she ran into the other day at the park and automatically fell in love with everything about him.She room out a black sleeveless dress and tried it on.

"Perfect"Ammie said, loving the little exposure of her cleavage on the dress, and how it was a total different taste from Emily's usual styles.

"You know my mum...."

"Your mum isn't going on a date with a guy"Ammie teased. She stood from the bed where she'd been reading a novel and helped Emily adjust the dress before s mirror.A smile tore through Emily's face.

"Looks unusual"she muttered."I'm not used to short, skimpy clothes"she continued, leaving the mirror and heading back for the wardrobe."I'ld rather be on my joggers and sweatshirts than these girly.....you know...outfits"she began taking off the dress.

"Noone says your usual is bad,but for date..... not so sure"Ammie lay back. After a minute of silence, she sat up.

"Do you see the world as a different place now?"she asked

"No...why"

"With the whole wolf stuff and different world story.I personally,am beginning to think there's more to the world that we don't know"she added.

"I personally,am beginning to think we should just focus on finding Dianne, with Dan's help ofcourse"

"Speaking of Dan"Ammie cut in."She stopped, obviously drowned in her thoughts.

"Ammie"Emily called her out of her thoughts.

"It's nothing..just that him being a wolf, means he can introduce us to his siblings,or family.I just want to have an understanding..."

"Brendan's dead"Emily interrupted. She let Ammie take the phone to see for herself.Clinton had just dropped the information on the group chat.

"Suicide?"

"He was a troubled kid though"Emily said before returning to the closet.

The door opened and Emily's mum walked in.She was dressed in a red gown and a white lab coat.

"I'm heading to the hospital Ammie.Ensure you're home when I get back"

"But mum,Emily and I...."

"Ammie"her mum interrupted.Ammie cursed under her breath.

"Fine!"

Her room left and Emily came out of the wardrobe.

"She's tough"she teased her friend, who wasn't happy with the fact that she'd have to sit at home till the next day while she had all the fun.

"Uncle Von,Lera is here"Scott informed his uncle. His library had been reconstructed after his fight with Scott.

Von headed downstairs and waited for Lera's arrival. She strutted in with her pack and morphed into her human figure.

Scott tossed her a gown.

"I see you've been busy"von started, waiting for her to get dressed.

"And I see you've lost control of your pets"She returned. She took steps closer to von, causing his people to make sudden moves exhibiting defence and readiness to fight.Von raised his hand, signalling them to worry less.

"She means no harm ....atleast to me"he said, smiling back at her.

"You've list control of Daniel"

"He was a traitor, and still is"

"So you let him go,and now he has a pack of humans on his side"Lera scoffed."I've always known you to be selfish and corrupt"

"I have better things to do other than stand here and listen to you devalue me"Von began walking away, alongside Scott.

"The boy has a Westworlder on his side!"she announced, causing them to halt in their tracks. Her smile returned, seeing she had regained their attention.

"That's not possible"Von said to her,in doubt.

She scoffed.

"I could see the energy of a Westworlder cloaking them when I encountered his team in the woods.A very unusual type of energy. It seemed like the Westworlder existed in it's own body, and not in the body of a host"

"Westworlders only survive in our world by attaching themselves to a host"

"But this was different"Lera corrected. She exhaled with curiosity written all over her face, after seeing Vons expressions."You seem surprised"she added."Years back you discovered the meeting points of the worlds. For three years you went missing and resurfaced all of a sudden, out of nowhere"she started, again, approaching him as she spoke."The scroll's been in your custody for decades. So obviously you have a piece of information which must have led you to discovering the meeting points of the worlds, and due to selfish interests,I presume you let the bridge stay open,to give you access in and out whenever you want, and this has resulted in the recent happenings in our world"

"You... presume"Von interrupted. He walked closer to her,and leaned closer to her."I look forward to you staying out of my affairs"he whispered.

"Von if the Redeemer wolf has the Westworlder on his side, then it means every other thing said in the prophecy will definitely be fulfilled.Don't you see what your actions have caused already'

"I have done nothing!"Von yelled.Hid eyes were filled with fury as he starred at Lera.

"For from bloodshed, shall come sickness, and from sickness, death, till the bloodline of the creatures of the gods is wiped out, ushering in a new order, crafted by the hands of the witch of Avalon, the beasts of blood"Lera recited a clause from the prophecy."Think, Von"she concluded, morphed into her wolf and sped out.

Von stood there, watching her morph and leave. He knew his actions would have consequences, but sacrifice was a major demand of love.He was willing to sacrifice everything.
