Chapter 4 Episode 4

ALPHA CLAY'S POV

The moment Avira was scolding me, using abusive words on me like she has always done, Elena walked in and left after some seconds. She must have thought that no one noticed her presence, but I intentionally did not want to alert her to avoid so many issues.

I love that she heard everything Avira said to me, so she could question her mother about it. Losing Elena is one thing I wouldn't want to let happen, not for the sake of the throne alone, but the fact that I want peace of mind.

From the day I got married to Avira, I hated everything about marriage and wanted to be alone. She made me hate my life and the fact that I got married to her-and then, I still can't tell how I made her my woman when she isn't my mate.

Was I under a spell or what? That's one thing I still can't tell up till now, and she has never supported me. "You can't be the Lycan King!" That's what she has always said, alongside that I'm impotent.

Several times, I've thought of divorcing her but it's against the Clan rules, so the only way to get her out of my life is by letting her do that herself in any way.

"I must get married to Elena, have a child, become the King, and watch her leave my life if she won't be submissive to me and respect the fact that Elena proved her wrong..'' I was getting ready to visit the palace to witness the transformation of the Lycan Princess.

Due to a lot that I had on my table to handle, I wasn't there on time. Elena already transformed when I arrived at the palace that night.

"She's inside with her servants..." Luna directed me and I made my way to her room.

Reaching the corridor leading to her room, a strong scent hit my nose. I inhaled it and wiped my nose, but the scent came rushing more. It has the scent of sweet berries, and when I moved further, it smelled like roses.

"Where's it coming from?" I muttered and followed the double scent until I reached a doorpost. "Isn't this her room?" I rolled my eyes followed by the sudden growl of my wolf. I felt the surge of happiness in my wolf that it jumped around, growling happily and wagging its tail. "What is this?" I gulped and the door opened suddenly causing me to step back.

"Princess, I came to...."

"Don't tell me that you have that scent..." she cut me up and walked closer, sniffing around my body continuously. That means he perceived that aroma as well. "You have that scent, and I am not wolfless...she's howling," she uttered, smiling at me.

I didn't get it since I didn't take anything seriously. "She's my mate!" my wolf announced. I stepped back. "How?"

"How? What is it? Your scent is sweet, it awakened my wolf and she loves the scent too." she gestured happily.

"After transformation, your wolf should be awakened," I said to her and she shook her head.

"It didn't, they said I could speak to my wolf but she didn't reply to me until I perceived the scent. She howled and jumped and then commented that the scent was delicious." she laughed and stepped back. "You're admirable! Thank you for waking her."

I couldn't hold it, looks like she doesn't understand what that means. "Elena!" I mentioned and she turned. "You're my mate! That's what the scent means, I also perceived it."

She stared at me mouth agape. "Impossible!"

"It's true!" I snapped at her.

She rolled her eyes. "She just talked again. You're truly my mate? So I have a mate? I'm not wolfless?" her facial expressions changed. She looked touched by what was going on, making me guess how many times she was mocked for not having a wolf.

I came closer to her and tried holding her but she stepped backwards.

"Why will I be your mate when I don't want to be your second wife? Tell me why? You're impotent, why should I be your mate?" she cried.

I felt so ashamed of myself that I drew her away to a hidden place. When I let go of her hand, she lifted her palm to hit me but I held her.

"Fine! Get mad at me the way you want," I said to her and she sniffed. "You already know that I'm impotent, that I can't father a child or be a good king ... .do you want to reject me and go back to Tyler huh? Do that now..."

She stepped back a bit and took a good look at me. "I already promised never to go back to that jerk, that's why I'm here." she folded her arms against her chest. "Three days from today, we are getting married. Tyler said he won't let me be...and your wife remarked that she won't let me into your home-then my mother said that I have no choice."

She wiped the tears that rolled down her cheeks. "But how do I know that you love me and aren't marrying me for your throne?" she screeched at me, her voice so teary.

I gulped. "You'll find out yourself...."

She watched as I took two steps away from her, and then she held me back, standing before me and looking me in the eyes. "I didn't want to do this, but it looks like I am bound to the Alpha. Right from being your mate, I'll prove to the Clan that you're not impotent and can make a good king," she remarked and dashed out of my sight.

I was dumb, just tears streaming down my eyes.

On the day of the wedding, my chief guard dressed me up himself and then led me to the carriage we would be leaving with. The ministers of my Clan and so many more were to go with us, but you wouldn't believe that Avira rendered curses on me before we took our leave.

I didn't bother because I was already used to her insulting words even when the ministers were fed up with her.

She had promised to get boiled water ready for Elena's presence, and then I ordered the guards that were around to keep a close eye on her because she was so heartless that she would do that.

It was a swift journey from my Clan until we reached the boundary that would lead us into Elena's clan when an arrow passed my face. "Not today, i don't want to be late and keep the royal family waiting.'' I thought and glanced at my chief guard who pulled out his sword as we were still moving.

As the groom, I had no weapon to defend myself this time, just the guards and a few warriors who were with us. Due to the arrow shot, they all surrounded me and the ministers while we were still on the journey.

"Tyler or Avira? Both of you have the same motive." I hissed and bent my head as the next aro came further. Instantly, lots of assassins from different corners jumped down from the trees around the road, taking the attention of the warriors behind.

I jumped down from the carriage and intended to take over one of the swords from a guard but the deputy minister held me back.

"Don't break the rule. The groom shouldn't be stained." he reminded me and I groaned angrily.

"Alpha!" I heard one of the guards call me out and I turned immediately only for a silver knife to stab into my heart. I spit out a mouth full of blood while holding the knife and the ministers all around me.

The moment I set my eyes on the chief minister who was just staring at me, he looked away.
