Chapter 6 The Heiress

Stephanie leaned wearily against the reception desk, her expression somber.

Meanwhile, the receptionists exchanged disdainful remarks. "Women nowadays are all about trying to climb the social ladder, oblivious to their own worth."

"Yeah, it's irritating how they all flock here just to catch Mr. Howard's attention."

"Some of them think they're special. But they're all alike. They only have eyes for a handsome and wealthy man, rushing to our company and waiting without a shred of shame.

Stephanie clenched her jaw in frustration.

Suddenly, the elevator chimed, and a well-dressed man emerged, followed by a group of colleagues.

"Mr. Howard, the meeting isn't finished. Please review my proposal."

"Mr. Howard, we can't halt the project. It's worth billions!"

"Wait! Mr. Howard!"

Before they could reach him, the women sitting nearby surged forward, crowding around Korbin.

"Get out!"

"Security, get rid of these women!"

Reacting swiftly to the commotion, the receptionists called for security to intervene.

One receptionist noticed Stephanie lingering and asked rudely, "What are you still doing here? Do you want security to escort you out?"

Stephanie scoffed. "Korbin!"

"Don't push it. Security, over here. There's one we missed!" the receptionist demanded.

Finally, Korbin noticed Stephanie amidst the crowd. The rage evident in her intense gaze sent shivers down his spine.

Korbin hurried over, wearing a flattering expression. "Oh my goodness! You've finally returned!"

The women were shocked. Korbin, known for his libertine ways, was suddenly acting so subservient in front of a woman they didn't recognize?

The men around were equally taken aback. Korbin, known as the company's ruthless tyrant, was unexpectedly yielding to someone else?

Stephanie regarded him icily. Her tone was unfriendly. "I may not be physically present, but it seems you're managing the company quite competently."

Korbin shook his head. "I'm not involved with those women. It's just my charm..."

"Just stop. First, clean up this lobby. It looks like a nightclub right now." Stephanie couldn't tolerate the chaos any longer.

Korbin nodded obediently. "Security, remove these people and get rid of that sofa!"

With Korbin's command, security swiftly escorted the scantily clad women out.

Stephanie glared at the two heavily made-up receptionists. "Receptionists represent the company's image. If they can't handle visitors professionally, I wonder how they even got hired!"

Korbin pointed to a man from the HR department. "You, fire these two and find replacements. From now on, we enforce a proper appointment system. No unauthorized individuals allowed in the lobby."

The head of HR nodded vigorously. "Understood!"

"Why... Why are we being fired? Who are you?" The receptionists protested, still in disbelief.

"Allow me to introduce her to you. This is Stephanie Gilbert, daughter of Mr. Larry Gilbert, heiress to Acme Group." Korbin's tone was unusually serious as he addressed not just the receptionists but also the men behind him.

The receptionists were stunned. The heiress...

They had offended the real boss here.

In the conference room, Korbin took the floor.

"I'm aware you have questions. Now that she is here, I can provide answers. I've been managing Acme Group on her behalf. Starting today, Miss Gilbert will gradually assume control. All pending business and projects will be decided by her once the transition is complete."
