Chapter 5 Absolutely

She intrigues me. Something about her makes me want to see her and get to know her better.

From what I heard from Marcus who was overseeing the selection of my offerings, she is the oldest of all the ladies.

Marcus keeps complaining how disobedient she is and that fans the flames of desire to meet her.

So I arranged to have the offerings assembled at the hall.

I receive peace offerings for all the packs I conquered in the past every year. Although I never demand them, the Alpha's have always delivered them to my pack every year. Since my pack tends to have many unmated males, I never objected to their kindness. Everytime the offerings arrive, I integrate them into my pack and allow them to find mates.

People say that I am the deity for chaos, what they don't is that I never attack unless someone challenges me.

You don't expect me to just sit around, cowering in fear and finally having my Kingdom conquered, right?

I have my responsibilities to the midnight pack and ever since I took over the region from my useless brothers who knew nothing but brew trouble, the region has had its period of peace. When my brother still ruled, that's when the packs challenged us into war. I won the war, earning the title of dark lord from the people.

I want my people to grow and war is an enemy for growth.

" I have sent word,you can address them in ten minutes." Marcus informed me. Waving my hand, I dismissed him.

My fingers trailed to the outline of a beautiful woman. Even in the blurry picture, her beauty could not be concealed.

A smile found my lips before it died down immediately.

I find my behaviour odd. I have been with many women over the years but it will be right to say that I only bedded them.

Apart from sex, nothing about them interested me but here I was, staring at some picture and smiling like a fool.

My heart has been sealed for years and there is no space for another woman.

With that resolution, I make my way to the Hall.

My quarters are left to the dining hall so I cross the pathway and head down the hallway when something or should I say someone crashes into me.

Out of instinct, I snake my arms around her waist, pulling her to myself and stabilising her.

My eyes look down and goddess, I am met with a pair of tantalising hazel orbs. They are deep and mysterious, inviting you to wander into them and discover the beauty of its tranquillity.

I get lost in them as they remain locked with mine.

I forget to breathe, taking in the beauty that lay in my arms.

I will swear to the goddess that in all the 28 years of my existence, I have never met such a beauty.

Her orbs burn into mine and I see her eyes sparkle with appreciation.

Her hands find my face and she trails them on my skin.

Her touch feels so good, almost erotic and I find myself loving it.

Her fingers trail the scar on my eyebrow and Instead of disgust,I see something else.

Is it pride?

But that's simply Insane.

I lean into her touch, her eyes hypnotising me.

My wolf, Ryker, purred with pleasure. He loved her touch.

Snapping out of my little trance, I pushed her away, sending her flying and falling on her butt.

" Ouch that hurts?" She cried and I masked my smile, putting on an expressionless face.

I don't know what took over me or what really happened.

I have never had moments like that, not to say with a total stranger.

Feeling confused and angry at myself, I sauntered away, not even sparing her a second glance.

My wolf was screaming at me to go back and help her out but I fought it.

I can not afford another attachment and end up paying the price later.

I won't allow it, not now, not ever.

I made my way to the meeting hall where the offerings were gathered, awaiting my presence.

Stepping Inside the Hall, everybody bowed their heads as a sign of submission.

I walked to the front and stood beside Marcus who for some reason was looking for someone mixed with the crowd.

Ignoring his behaviour, I was about to say something when the lady from earlier tiptoed to the room, trying to hide and blend with the crowd.

My beta roars at her,making me frown.

I wonder what's the deal with the two. If I didn't know Marcus well, I would have thought that he was dumped by Maya and he was bitter about it.

The two seem like mortal enemies?

No, Maya's reply surely convinced me that they are mortal enemies.

She is fierce and relentless. Judging from her tone of voice, she is the least scared of Marcus. That makes me more interested in knowing the real her.

Rumour has it that she is the reason her husband's pack is strong and powerful.

I knew I had to step up and stop the two lest they end up attacking each other.

After getting them to stop exchanging words, I moved on to address the offerings

Since they were offered to the midnight pack as peace offerings, this is their home now and if they are living here, they are expected to follow all the rules that govern the midnight pack and I made that very clear.

Since I don't plan on keeping any of them for myself,I offered a position of a personal maid and I automatically chose Maya.

I know that I may be making an impulsive decision but I find her interesting.

When I look at her, she's busy checking me out, making me smirk.

I call her attention and the momentarily confusion on her face before she masks it makes her adorable.

" Absolutely, Alpha." She replies and I can tell she doesn't even know what she agreed on.

" Follow me." I say and head outside.

I can feel her following behind me, making me smile.

I halt immediately and she comes knocking straight into me.

The sound of her apologies made me wanna burst out laughing but I held myself before throwing sarcastic words at her.
