Chapter 4 My Lord

Picking myself up, I dust my clothes before following behind him, making sure to keep my distance.

Since I don't know the way, I might well follow him to his destination.

After taking a few turns, I stood before the Hall.

Everybody was already gathered there, waiting for the Alpha so I sneaked in.

" Hey you,how audacious of you to arrive after the Alpha? Is this your home where you get to do what you want?" A voice roared, my heart picking its pace.

" I'm sorry Beta Marcus. I had a little accident on my way here." I replied.

I have never been the one to show any weakness or be submissive.

I am a warrior Luna and not used to getting orders from others.

I can accept if it's the Dark Lord reprimanding me but a mere beta isn't qualified.

It doesn't matter if I am in his turf or not.

I could clearly tell that he was picking on me. For some reason, he did not seem to like me. Not like I liked him either

The whole hall fell silent from my words while I caught some offerings looking at me as if I had grown another head.

" Do you have a death wish! How dare you talk back to me?" The man roared again, his eyes flashing red indicating that his Wolf was taking over, but I did not flinch.

If he wants to fight me, then he can bring it on. I might not be stronger than him but I will never be threatened to submit.

I am the kind of person who only grows rebellious the more I am forced.

" Enough with that Beta Marcus. She is just a woman, you should understand her." A voice sounded and my eyes turned to look at the source and that's when my orbs collided with the black eyes from a moment ago.

' What is he doing here?' I wondered Inwardly and the next words from beta Marcus answered my question.

" Yes Alpha." The man replied respectively.

Shock overtook my senses. Just thinking about our encounter, I trembled.

Our eyes met and a smirk played at the corner of his lips. I looked down almost immediately. All the others had their heads lowered. It's said that you don't get to look at the Dark Lord in the face.

Those eyes, they were mesmerizing and I felt drawn into them. Wasn't he supposed to be scary and all? Well, at least that's what others say about him but sneaking a peek at the man, he was nothing close to scary. If anything, he looked poised and elegant, handsome and enchanting, just like an Adonis.

His speech was short and strict to the point. Standing at the podium addressing us, his whole body emanated a domineering air. He reeked of power and arrogance. That did not deter his charm, if anything, it made him appear more attractive. I sneaked a peak at him, my eyes admiring those broad shoulders and lean waist tucked inside a white shirt and jeans. He looked delectable and I found myself running my tongue over my lips. I could not help but compare him with Theo

While Theo is calm and has a natural charm, the dark Lord is filled with rugged handsomeness. He is well built and proportioned, not a hint of extra fat in his body

His leadership comes out naturally. He doesn't need to force it, it's like he was born to be a leader.

My eyes wander to his lips and I swallow hard. They look edible.

" Are we together, Young lady?" Alpha Killian's words pull me from my thoughts and I watch in horror as all eyes stare at me.

" Absolutely,my Lord" I answered almost immediately. I can't have others know that I zoned off as the Alpha addressed us.

Alpha Killian gave me a ' I know you weren't listening look'. I looked away, embarrassed that he caught me checking him up.

I heaved a sigh of relief when he passed me only to hold my breath the next moment when he halted then turned to look at me.

" Follow me!" His order came and my eyes widened in shock.

"Huh?"

" Didn't you hear me or you are Just dumb? I said follow me!" He repeated, this time his voice sounding impatient.

Everybody turned to look at me. The ladies had jealousy and hatred painting their faces while Beta Marcus looked like he would snap my neck the next moment.

I followed behind the Dark Lord, my heart hammering in my chest.

Of all the people, why did I have to catch the Dark Lord's attention? I only wanted to live here peacefully but will that be possible anymore?

The last thing I want is to have him investigate me and unravel my secrets. When the time comes, I don't know if I will be able to keep my pathetic life, leave alone live in peace.

Lost in thought, I followed behind Alpha Killian blindly until I bumped into something hard and warm.

Rubbing my forehead, I lifted my face only to realize that I ran Into him, the Dark Lord.

Falling to the ground, I trembled as I poured apologies to him.

" Are you so eager to throw yourself at me that you couldn't wait to arrive somewhere private?" He asked, his voice playful.

" I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." I said, my head still bowed.

" You didn't mean to but you still did. If I am right, this is the second time you are bumping into me today. With how clumsy you are, I wonder what's the next thing you'll bump into." The guy said, turning to look at me only to hear him growl.

" You are not a slave here, why are you kneeling?" He questioned, making me slowly lift my head to meet his eyes.

" You weren't listening to what I was saying earlier, were you?" He asked and I lowered my head. I didn't dare lie to him so I kept quiet.

" Stand up!" He ordered but I remained kneeling, afraid that he would get angry at me if I did that. After all, it's said that he speaks to his subjects as they kneel down.

" I don't dare!" I replied and he growled.

" Are you defying my orders now? ' he roared and I trembled.

As if sensing my fear, he sighed.

" Stand up, Maya, don't Make me repeat myself." He spoke softly but wait...

Maya? Does he know my name?

How can that be possible? Does that also mean that I was a married woman? If yes then I guess my death is coming sooner than expected.
