Chapter 6 Let's Make a Deal

"I already sent out men to track down the Samantha who sent the messages. We will find her soon." Floyd told Charles after bringing him up to speed with all that have happened with Samantha and the mix-up in identity.

"Hmmm, this is a very weird situation. So what do we do with Miss Davis when she regains consciousness?" Charles inquired.

"I intend to have a talk with her and find a way to convince her not to file a report. It will be hard but I know I can convince her to see reasons. And I think compensation will come in handy too." Floyd replied while pacing around the office.

His cell started to ring, he walked to the centre table and picked it up, it was his guy he had left at the hospital. "Is she awake?" he asked. "Okay am on my way."

"Is she awake?" Charles asked getting up from where he had been sitting.

"Yes. Don't worry, I will handle this." Floyd said walking out of the Charles office.

Taking the elevator, he went to the car park and retrieved his car. Floyd enjoyed driving but at the moment he was distracted, wondering how he made such a huge mess of things, which he now had to fix.

Arriving at the hospital, Floyd's first stop was the doctor's office. He wanted to be sure there were no complications with her health, as that would only further worsen the situation.

"Hi, doc. Please I need to see you concerning the lady I brought in earlier, Samantha Davis. How is she?" He asked.

"O yeah, I was looking for you earlier." The doctor informed him. "The lady is fine. Just like you suspected, she was suffering from a drug overdose. But she is fine now. We will only keep her for a few hours more for monitoring and then the nurses can arrange her discharge."

"Thank you so much. I will just go check on her." At this information, Floyd couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. at one point, he had questioned his reasoning for bringing her to the hospital. He was close to the door when he remembered Samantha's angry face. He knew walking into the room would be equivalent to walking into a battlefield, so he decided that a peace offering would be his only way of winning the battle.

He had noticed a florist store just across the hospital, so he went back outside and got her a bouquet of daises.

Walking back into the room, Floyd found her sitting up in bed.

"Before you raise your weapon, I bought a peace offering." He announced, gently placing the flowers on the bed.

"How did you know these are my favourite flowers?" Samantha asked, Staring at the daises.

"I have a good intuition, and my intuition told me, these look lovely, they will cheer her up, get them for her."

"Well, they did cheer me up, thank you. Are they Gerbera daisies?" she asked lifting them from the bed to bring them to her nose for a sniff.

"eh. . . yes, yes they are" Floyd answered stuttering. The florist had said something about their name but he had not been listening.

"Look I am really sorry about the entire mix-up. The nurses will be here soon for your discharge. Here is your bag. You have some missed calls I think you should respond to. Am sure your dad must be worried by now about your whereabouts. You should return his call." Floyd informed her handing over her bag.

"What time is it?" Samantha asked, pulling out her phone from her bag. "O my God, it's past nine pm. I really should get home. Twenty-seven missed calls. Dad would be so mad"

"So hmm are you going to press charges?" Floyd asked

"If I say yes, will you sedate me again and put me in the warehouse till I cooperate?" She answered, giving him her sternest look.

"Of course not. What happened today really was a mix-up. If I had known who you were, I never would have done that to you."

"Your excuse doesn't justify your actions, no one deserves to be treated that way, you know. And if only you had let me introduce myself, you would have known who I was. To know people, you let them introduce themselves. Shouldn't that be the first thing they teach in a security school? Or what kind of training did you get to be a CSO? Samantha asked out of breath.

"Well, I sure didn't go to a security school," Floyd answered smiling. Taking a step closer to the bed, he put on his serious face "Please let me make it up to you for all that happened today."

Samantha found herself staring into his eyes. They were not completely black. If one looked carefully, you could see a hue of grey in them.

Mentally face-palming herself, she remembered what he had said about making it up to her. "Focus Sam, he is cute yes, but focus," Samantha told herself. Pretending to give it some thought, she made the face of someone who looked confused and undecided before replying.

"Yes, there is a way you can make it up to me, Mr Floyd. I was at Newville to talk to you about an interview with Mr Stone. But now I think that is the only way you can make it up to me for everything that happened today."

Floyd was surprised by the request. "You know Mr stone doesn't grant interviews, right?"

"That may be true, but there are always exceptions. You could either grant me an exclusive interview or I write about my experience today in my column. I could even do a follow-up edition when I find out who this Samantha lady you mistook me for really is." She said tapping her chin. "Anyway, I will have my big story. So, what is it going to be, Sir? She added mockingly.

Floyd remembered the expression being caught between a rock and a hard place, that was what he felt right now.

"Okay fine, I will convince him to grant you your interview."

"Yesss."

"But first we need to make a deal, only when you agree to my terms do you get the interview. It's that or nothing." Floyd added.

"Am here for your discharge." Said the nurse who walked in holding her file.

"Can we continue this conversation later", Samantha asked. "But thank you for agreeing to this anyway. Even if I think you owe me. She added rolling her eyes.
