Chapter 4 .

After the unexpected turn of event, everyone is now nice to me. They are all offering to lend me notes and stuff.

God bless Ben.

I might not admit it, but I also have Keith to thank for all that happened.

He stood up to Taylor and told everyone Ben was my brother now everyone is now nice.

At least my life won't be shit here.

At the close of the day, I'm waiting by Keith's car. Sadly, I don't know my way home and my father kept me in his care so I guess that's his burden.

He approaches the car and smiles when he sees me.

"Why are you in a rush to go home?" He asks.

"I don't know, because it's closing time?" I reply.

We are back to being rude.

"Don't you have friends you want to hang out with?" He ask.

"No, I should be home, eating and resting my neck. It has been a long day." I say.

"You're hungry? You should have just day so." He looks concern.

"That's not the point." I try to explain." I just want to go home."

"Okay. Let's be on our way, princess."

With that, he opens the door for me. I hop in and snatch the door from his hand, closing it myself.

He shakes his head and turns around to enter the car. He starts the car and drives off.

After much turns and straight drives, I admit that I'm hopeless.

I'm not really a computer brain but I should at least have seen my house by now. My Daddy's house stands out. In size and design.

Why is the drive from school longer than the drive to school.

"Are you really taking me home? Or to an abattoir to have me slaughtered." I say.

It was a joke. He was suppose to laugh and tell me he was of course taking me home.

But he looks at me and continues driving, like he is guilty. I start to rethink the abattoir stuff and I'm scared to shit.

"I'm not taking you home." He admits.

"What?" I scream.

"Relax, I'm not taking you to an abattoir." He chuckles.

This is no time for jokes and this is no time to laugh at them.

"My dad told you to take me home." I say trying my best not to sound rude. I don't want to scare this man I barely know presently.

"It's just my house. Why are you making such a fuss about it?" He ask.

"I don't want to go to your house. I want to go to MY house. Please." I say.

He looks at me kind of amused.

"What are you scared of? My mum is home?"

So what if his mum is home? She will be more of a stranger than he is.

I don't reply him instead I look at out of the window, at the cars and building.

"I just really have to send something to my professor." He explains.

Oh, I forgot he is still a student. I forgot that he shuffles between high school and college.

If he really has to send something to his professor, It would be very rude to force him to do other wise.

I have no problem being rude to him but he has been really nice. I should let him do what he has to do.

I will stand outside the gate of his mighty mansion and wait for him to do his college stuff and when he is through, he is gonna drive me straight home.

"Okay, but you have to be quick. I have lot of school stuffs to do too. Twenty minutes maximum." I warn.

He nods and smiles.

The long drive continues.

We get to his house and I can't keep my mouth close. I know he is rich from his clothes and car but this?

I said mighty gates and mansion just with assumption. I didn't know that that's all really true.

I thought my dad's house is huge, well this boy lives in a palace.

How many kids do they even have? The whole house is glistening, no, it can't be from my imagination.

"You're coming or what?" He interrupts me.

He drove right in, and I am just busy looking around.

I step out and the first thing that catches my eyes it a fountain. These people have a freaking fountain.

To some extent, I feel humbled. I was indirectly asking him to leave my house and now he is politely inviting me into his mansion.

He opens the door and I step in.

The interior of the house is even more beautiful.

I walk pass the sitting room and peeped at the dining section.

I expected to see a family already having lunch. A proper, up tight family. The kind that the men wore ties and cover shoes to the table and the women wore cover shoes and fancy outing dresses.

Those are the kind of people that should live here.

But there's no one. Not even a soul.

Keith leads me up the stairs and through many halls. And finally, we came to his room.

The room is almost two times mine. The bed is huge.

It's not a typical college boys room but he did some modifications and it's really nice.

The bed has this fancy curtains that you can bring down to make it look like a small sanctuary.

I stood by the door, looks at the room and he walks straight to the bed and sinks into it.

Isn't he suppose to be sending something to his professor?

"What are you doing?" I ask with annoyance.

"What does it look like?" He replies.

"I still want to go home!" I shout at him.

"You said twenty minutes, I got it." He takes off his shirt.

His body is smoking hot that I can't help but stare. He has tattoos, I didn't know that he has one, on his right bicep. It's a writing but I can't see it. He also has a cross on his right wrist. Never noticed that.

I refuse to be enchanted by his body. I shake my head as soon as I realize he is taking his pants off.

"What's wrong with you?" I'm disgusted. " What are you doing?"

"What do you think?" He isn't stopping. He is now left with his inner wear. I kept my eyes up, really up. "I'm going to bath after a long day."

"You should have at least have the decency to ask me to politely leave the room before stripping." I snap.

"Well, I've seen you naked. Only wanted to return the Favor."

Did he just say that? Did he just say that me?

He is so hopeless.

I don't give him a reply instead I walk right out of the room before he says anything else.

I start to regret it. I should have smashed his laptop on the floor. Yes, that would have thought him a lesson or two.

I turn around, three sixty and to my dismay, I don't know my way out.

I can get lost in a town, but not in a house. I assure my self. With that I begin to use any path I see with a stair case going down.

After many turns and sighs of frustration. I finally find the front door.

I slowly walk to it and I meet a man watching TV.

I freeze at my track. This should be Keith's father. What would he think of a stranger walking freely around his house?

Fortunately he is too engrossed in the TV to even notice me. Slowly I retrace my steps to the stairs. I better get Keith before his dad call the police on me.

I feel I have bump into someone and I see a woman holding a bowl of and a spatula. She must be Keith's mum. He looks so much like her.

My fear heightens and I don't know if I should greet her or just run out.

"Hey there" she beams.

Her husband turns around seeing me for the first time.

"Hi." I say still scared to the bones.

Her friendly smile instantly dissolves my anxiety.

I don't know if I should introduce myself. I'm so confused.

"Wow. I didn't know we have a visitor." Her husband smiles.

Friendliness runs in this family.

"She's not a guest. She's Ben's junior sister." The wife argue.

Wow. Can this rich woman be any nicer?

"Oh my God, Ben's sister?" He exclaims. "I didn't know, you don't look like him at all."

Well, I have heard that before. Today.

"I'm sorry I was wandering about. I kind of got lost." I explain trying to justify my bad behavior.

"Don't worry about it, you can wander all you want. Ben was like a son to us and any family of Ben's is a family of ours." She says.

Ben again. My late brother influence has come through for me again.

"Where is Keith?" The father ask. Probably trying to lighten the atmosphere that has been darkened at the mention of Ben's name.

"He is taking a bath." I say.

Then let's go to the table. He will join us when he finishes.

Ben's dad stands up. "won't you join us?" He ask.

"Yes, join us." His wife says.

I look from one person to the other. They have been nothing but nice to me but inviting me to lunch is just being too nice.

"I'd hate to cause any inconvenience." I reject.

"Common, don't say no. I cooked a really big meal, everyone is going to have enough." She says.

I know I want to bail but I don't want to break this sweet woman's heart.

I smile as she leads me to the table.

I look down at my plate. As she spoons rice and some vegetables for me.

"Thanks ma'am." I say.

"Oh, dear. Call me Vivian or Mrs. Lautner." She gently chastises.

I nod.

Keith walks in. His shirt wet and his hair dripping too.

"God! Keith, why do you have to wet my floor?" Mrs. Lautner says.

"Sorry," he murmurs and takes a seat. Fortunately not close to me.

He looks at me but looks right away and begins to serve himself.

"Didn't know you brought Anna home." His mum says.

"Yeah. I had to take a shower and send that stuff to my professor. I guess she was just too anxious to meet you guys." He says all this without even looking at me.

Why isn't he looking at me?

Everyone is eating in silence.

"You're going to do the dishes today, Sam. It's your turn." Mrs Lautner says.

"I will mum. Just have to drop Annabelle home first." He says.

"Oh okay."

"You should get me some glue from the store." His father says.

He looks up and nods.

Lunch continues without anymore interruption.

The drive back home is smooth. No unnecessary talks, so unlike Keith, but I love it.

Finally he pulls up in front of my Dad's house. It's just ten minutes from his.

"Thank you." I say.

He nods and drums lightly on the steering wheel.

"Hey, I'm sorry about that joke I made about seeing you naked." He isn't looking at me. "I can be a real dick sometimes. I'm sorry."

So that's why he is so quiet. To be real, I don't even remember that.

I feel so bad for him. I throw rude comments at him all the time and here he is feeling bad for a rotten joke he told.

"It's nothing, really." I say."I don't even remember it."

"And I'm very really sorry. It was a genuine mistake that day." He adds.

"Of course it was. But you kept laughing instead of saying sorry, so." I shrug.

"I'm saying sorry now. It was not a very nice thing to do." He says.

Ben is such a good guy. I won't say I like him now,but my impression of him has changed over the day. He is so jovial and never knowingly offends anyone.

I nod. Even if I want to say something, I don't Know what to say.

"Alright then. I'll pick you up tomorrow." He says.

"Okay bye." I said walking out of the car.

"Hey." He calls me.

I turn to see him holding the food him mum packed for me.

I take it and smile at him and he smiles right back.

I walk back into my house.
