Chapter 5 Joan's Pov

Joan's POV

I couldn't sleep, my eyes were opened with regrets boiling inside of me.

How could I allow the Don of the man who had my entire family slaughtered to....

My heart felt heavy, I felt like I had betrayed my family and all the people who died that horrible night....

One look at Alpha Rex was looked as innocent as ever while sleeping, i wanted to grab a knife and stab it through his heart!

What have I done?

Joan, what have you done to yourself?

Ypu made yourself so accessible and now this happened...

I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration, weeping quietly.

"You're such an idiot, Joan."

I realized my hatred for him had gotten even worse.

If only I stayed under the stairs and let Ms Green screaming my name till she passes out, none of these would have happened.

How could forget what just happened? How could I have let everyone including myself down?

And all for what?

A mate that was never going to make me his Luna...

I need to get the heck out of here!

I have to walk the hell out of this and never look back even if its going to cost me my life!

Giving myself to h8m is not going to make h8m love me. That lady was absolutely right, I don't deserve him.

I don't deserve a heartless beast like Alpha Rex.

I would rather live the rest of my life without a mate rather than live like this.

I hope Silvia is happy wherever she was and hopefully she wasnt going through the hell i am putting up with.

I took another glance at the man beside me and the only felt was nothing but anger.

Pulling the duvet away, I got out bed, heading out of the room while trying my best to be as quiet as possible.

The hall was quiet and the guards seem to be dozing off on duty. I hurried towards the maids quarters and gathered my things.

Stripping out of the clothes I had on, a reminder of how horrible a night it had been, I settled for something very comfortable.

Finally, all my things were neatly packed. I took another caution walk out of the room and our throught the courtyard.

As soon as the guards were far away from sight, I took to my heels.

The night was cold and dark. My choice of clothing wasn't exactly the smartest.

A pair of jeans, top and canvas.

The only thing that made sense of the crazy outfit i had on were the canvas.

It's easier to run.

Where was I headed? Everywhere was so dark and my sense of direction was useless at this point.

Any where.

Anywhere but here.

After hours of walking and the sun setting, I could see destination but I was tired, thirsty and hungry.

I had no idea where I was headed neither do I have any relative I could think of. They were all murdered that night and my survival had been nothing but pure luck.

One 9f the maids was fast enough to place me right beside my mother's embroidery set.

As soon as she turned away from me, 5he sound 9f sword cutting through her sk8n filled my ears.

She died immediately.

Recalling the horrid sight if my mother in the pool of her own blood and my father hung up with a pike stick as though a trophy.

Never in a million years could I get rud of that horrid memory out of my head.

Tears rolled down my chin, how could someone be so cruel? Not just to one person but the entire pack.

He had killed my entire bloodline and allowed me to live in regret and bitterness.

And fate decided to mock me by giving me my worst nightmare as a mate...

"Hey!! What are you doing on the border?"

"Oh, it's a she"

"A she? So late at night?"

"Hey come on, she's one of those entertainers!"

Oh no.

I quicken my steps, not looking back to see the faces of the men talking to me. Is this a bad idea? Going into a pack that I barely even knew.

"Come on angel, play with me"

"We'll make you feel alright. Promise"

I broke into a run, not taking any chances at this point.

"Help!!"

There was no one in sight, everywhere was dark and the woods seemed to grow thicker by the passing minute.

My heart was racing wildly in my chest and my ears thrummed in response.

"Come on! It will be fun!"

"Some body help me please!!"

My steps quickened but the men were faster. Like a fish of lightening, one of them grabbed my hand and forced me to a nearby tree.

"This should be fun"

"Please let me go!"

He pushed me to the ground and I caught a glimpse of three other men in the dark.

"Please! I'm begging you!"

Is this really it? Am I going to end up at the mercy of these men?

Tears rolled down my chin as my fate.

"What are you boys doing?"

The voice of an elderly lady ran through the woods.

"Oh shit. It's that white witch!"

"Damn it!"

The men ran into the woods, disappearing from sight.

"My dear, you should know this paths are dangerous at night," She said as she got closer.

I couldn't see her frame but she sounded really frail.

"I am not from here. I...I was hoping to settle in another pack"

"A run away? What is your story?"

I couldn't bring myself to tell her what had happened to me. Maybe it was best that I don't tell her anything...

"I..I'm really hungry ..."

"Of course dear. Come on, my cottage isn't so far away."

She helped me up and I was right behind as she led me towards her house.

"It's dangerous to walk here at night my dear. Those fools? They are drunk beyond stupor. They don't know what they are doing" she offered.

"Thank you so much ma'am. I..I don't know what would become of me if you hadn't showed up"

"You're lucky I came out to fetch some herbs."
