Chapter 9 Callan Asked You To Delete Them

Sylvia was initially surprised, but then her anxiety surged.

How on earth did Lacey get hold of this recording?

Dolores' earlier confidence disappeared in a flash, replaced by a look of uncomfortable confusion.

Lacey glanced at Callan.

She had played the recording to expose Sylvia's lies in front of him. He must be upset since his beloved woman was humiliated.

Indeed, Callan looked cold and unapproachable.

She inhaled deeply, ready to face any fallout. Her primary goal was to strike back with force.

"I've got an interesting photo here too," Lacey said calmly.

She proceeded to show the injury report photo she had taken earlier.

Callan examined the injury report on Lacey's phone, his expression growing even colder.

Lacey braced herself, thinking Callan would reprimand her. Surprisingly, he turned to Sylvia and asked sharply, "Is this why you skipped the banquet?"

Lacey was completely taken by surprise.

Callan's first reaction was to question Sylvia?

Wasn't he supposed to reprimand her for causing distress to Sylvia by exposing her lies?

Lacey couldn't fathom Callan's response.

Sylvia forced tears in her eyes, trying to evoke sympathy.

"Callan, I honestly thought I was very sick at the time. I really believed my condition was severe. My agent was just being cautious about my health, insisting I skip the banquet."

Lacey observed silently from the side as Sylvia desperately tried to shift blame, her expression one of scorn.

Unimpressed, Callan directed a cold look towards Sylvia. His voice was emotionless. "Then how do you explain that social media post?"

It was true. Lacey's ordeal stemmed from a post on Sylvia's social account.

Sylvia's expression became even more pitiful as she whimpered, "I only found out about the post today. I didn't post it myself. I later learned it was my agent's idea to sell a sob story and attract more fans."

"Why the long face? You're upsetting Sylvia." Dolores quickly chimed in, trying to defuse the situation. "Sylvia claims it was all her agent's doing, and she had no idea about it. Also, let's not forget Lacey is responsible for Sylvia's injury."

Dolores shifted the blame onto Lacey. "It's a fact that she caused Sylvia's injury. So, this is all Lacey's fault!"

With Dolores' backing, Sylvia immediately felt more confident.

She wiped away the tears from her eyes and looked at Lacey with a sense of triumph.

Confronted with Dolores' hostility and Sylvia's smugness, Lacey glanced at the silent Callan, feeling there was no point in arguing further.

She gave Callan a look, said nothing, and decided to walk away.

"Lacey," Callan called after her, attempting to stop her.

"Why bother calling her? She's just feeling ashamed, so she's leaving," Dolores commented sharply.

Then she turned to Callan with a softened expression. "Callan, I wanted to discuss something with you."

Sylvia, quick to seize the opportunity, blinked her eyes and said softly, "You two have a talk. I'll go and explain things to Lacey."

She gave Callan a charming smile and then walked out of the ward in her high heels.

The ward was left with only Callan and Dolores.

Dolores said seriously, "Callan, you need to think this through. You and Lacey should divorce as soon as possible. It's not good for either of you to prolong this."

Callan's face showed frustration, and he seemed uninterested in discussing the matter.

"I've got my reasons for how I handle this. Don't worry about it." He spoke in a low voice, leaving no room for debate.

Dolores chose to say nothing more, interpreting this as a desire for divorce.

Outside the hospital room, Sylvia caught up to

Lacey and stopped her.

Lacey paused and turned to face Sylvia, her expression questioning. "Yes? What do you want?"

"Delete that recording and the injury report right now!" Sylvia stood, arms folded, her voice filled with authority.

Uninterested in engaging with her, Lacey started to walk away. Sylvia's voice followed after her. "Callan wants you to delete them!"
