Chapter 5

Lillian's heart hurt a lot, like someone stabbed it with a dagger.

She took a deep breath, trying to hide the sad feeling inside. She opened her eyes and looked at Alpha Maximus playfully. "Alpha Terence, are you scared of me falling in love with you?"

Alpha Maximus tossed the blanket aside and stood up from the bed, showing his strong muscles.

He dressed carefully and looked down at Lillian, who was still lying in bed. "Lillian, you shouldn't love me. Keep your love hidden, or I will consider ending our marriage sooner."

Lillian got out of bed and walked up to Alpha Maximus, hugging him tightly.

"Alpha Terence, don't you think you're being too mean? I'm still your wife, after all. Can't you pretend for a little while?" she asked, sounding like she was about to cry. Alpha Maximus stopped buttoning his shirt, thinking that Lillian, who was usually tough, was actually crying.

He started feeling a little guilty. But when he lifted her chin, he saw her smiling brightly and not sad at all.

He pinched her chin and said, "As long as you stay obedient and don't have any other thoughts, I'll let you be Mrs. Terence for a bit longer. And I promise to take care of you financially."

Lillian leaned in and gently bit his chin. "Don't worry, Alpha Terence. You're not someone I'm aiming for. I was just joking with you."

"Good that you know," replied Alpha Maximus.

He liked Lillian's easygoing personality. He married her because she looked like Caroline and because she liked money. Women like her, who cared a lot about material things, were easy to handle. So, he married her without any worries. For the past four years, her obedience pleased him the most.

Still pinching her chin, he said, "Be a good girl. I've already asked the lawyer to prepare the divorce papers. You just need to sign them next week. I'll compensate you well after our divorce."

Lillian smiled. "Well, thank you in advance then, Alpha Terence."

He kissed her.

After everything was done, Lillian snuggled into Alpha Maximus' arms and said, "Alpha Terence, can you carry me to the bathroom for a shower?"

Although Alpha Maximus was enjoying stroking her back, he coldly refused, saying, "I'm a bit tired. You can shower in the morning when you wake up. Just go to sleep now."

Disappointment flashed in her eyes. She had known Alpha Maximus for four years, and to him, she was never his wife, but just a tool.

Alpha Maximus didn't care about Lillian's thoughts and quickly fell asleep.

Lillian went to the bathroom and took a long bath. Washing away her tiredness, she wrapped herself in a towel and walked out of the bathroom.

She stood by the bed, looking at Alpha Maximus with mixed emotions on her face.

...

Lillian put down the towel and changed into her dress. She left a note on the bedside table and didn't hesitate to leave the luxurious suite.

The next morning, Lillian was woken up by her phone ringing. Still half-asleep, she looked at it and saw that it was a call from Alpha Maximus.

"What's the matter, Alpha Terence?" she said groggily.

"Why did you leave first?" Alpha Maximus sounded angry.

But Lillian knew how to calm him down.

"I couldn't sleep last night. Since you were sleeping so peacefully, I left so I wouldn't disturb you. What's wrong? Do you already miss me?" she asked with a yawn.

"Come to Terence Corporations this afternoon. Let's have a meal together," Alpha Maximus instructed.

She laughed. "You miss me already after such a short time apart."

"Drive to the company in the afternoon, and we'll eat together," he repeated coldly before hanging up.

Lillian tossed her phone on the bed, got up, and chose her outfit for the day. In the end, she picked a yellow dress and a pair of high heels. After putting them on, she applied light makeup, admired herself in the mirror, and smiled in satisfaction.

"Perfect! You look gorgeous, Lillian," she told herself in the mirror.

Lillian was already very beautiful, a rare beauty. Her captivating eyes and oval face, along with her small nose, rosy lips, and tall figure, made her exceptionally attractive. Maybe Alpha Maximus picked her as his wife not only because she looked like Caroline but also because of her flawless appearance.

After all, men love beautiful women. Since he was marrying someone he didn't love, he might as well choose someone pretty and obedient.

With her new Louis Vuitton bag on her shoulder, she walked confidently to her brand new Audi. She drove out of the neighborhood and headed to Terence Corporations, easily finding a parking spot.

After parking, she walked into the building with the keys twirling around her finger. When the receptionist saw her, she politely greeted her, "Good afternoon, Mrs. Terence."

"Miley, your makeup looks amazing today, and your skin looks better too! Did you use the cosmetics I recommended?" Lillian asked with a smile.

Touching her face, Miley replied, "You have such a good eye, Mrs. Terence! My skin improved a lot after using those products." She then whispered to Lillian, "Mrs. Terence, be careful. Ms. Bailey is here again."

Gina Bailey was the daughter of Henry Bailey, a famous person in the entertainment industry. She was slim and capable. She was in charge of the collaboration between the Baileys and the Terences. Everyone in the company was spreading rumors about Gina replacing Lillian as Mrs. Terence, but only Lillian knew that Gina was in a relationship with a man Henry didn't approve of.

Lillian kept smiling. "That's great! I haven't had a meal with Gina in a long time, so this is a wonderful coincidence. I'll head in now!"

After waving goodbye, Lillian strutted proudly and confidently into the private elevator, like a beautiful peacock.

She pressed the button for the twentieth floor, and the elevator quickly arrived. Paula welcomed her when she stepped out of the elevator and said, "You're here, Mrs. Terence. Alpha Terence and Ms. Bailey are inside... Do you want to wait a bit before going in?"
