Chapter 4

Alpha Maximus stared at her with brooding eyes, his alpha instincts urging him to take what he desired. Lowering his head, he sealed her lips with his own in a passionate kiss.

After their lips parted, she gently pushed him away, creating distance between them. Without blinking, she met his gaze and spoke with determination, "You're such a player, Alpha Terence. Despite claiming to love Ms. Graham, you continue to be in a relationship with me, your wife. Do you enjoy the thrill of being unfaithful?"

"We won't have anything to do with each other after our divorce," he replied coldly.

Her heart ached, but she put on a defiant smile. "Alpha Terence, are you reminding me that soon we'll have no connection?"

She raised her arm and traced circles on his chest, her fingers moving seductively. "If that's the case, maybe you shouldn't touch me tonight. After all, we'll be going our separate ways soon."

"As long as we're still married, you're still Mrs. Terence. And you're obligated to fulfill my desires," he asserted.

Alpha Maximus leaned down, pressing his body closer to hers.

Lillian lowered her head, a bitter smile on her face. But when she looked up, a bright grin adorned her features. Her eyes, so captivating, caused Alpha Maximus to get lost in them.

"You really think I resemble Caroline," he muttered absentmindedly.

Lillian's body tensed, then relaxed just as quickly. Still tracing his chest nonchalantly, she warned, "Alpha Terence, I won't be happy if you mention another woman in front of me. It makes me feel like I'm not enough for you. And I don't appreciate that."

With that, she pulled Alpha Maximus's neck towards her, initiating a kiss.

Alpha Maximus swiftly took control, their tongues intertwining as he kissed her forcefully.

Just as Alpha Maximus was about to progress further, Lillian pushed him away playfully. With a seductive smile, she teased, "Alpha Terence, would you mind some red wine to set the mood?"

Staring at her hungrily, his voice deep, he replied, "Certainly."

He walked away, returning with a bottle of 1982 red wine and two glasses.

After pouring her half a glass, he handed it to her and said, "Cheers!"

"Cheers," Lillian clinked her glass against his, gently swirling the wine to enhance its aroma.

...

"Lillian, do you know why I've stayed married to you for so long?" Alpha Maximus asked, holding his glass of red wine.

"Isn't it because I'm only your wife in name?" Lillian guessed, smiling.

"Because besides resembling Caroline, you know how to please me in bed," he admitted possessively.

Shaking her head, amused, Lillian replied, "Men can claim to love a woman but easily praise another. One can never trust sweet words from a man."

"But you're my wife," Alpha Maximus insisted.

Lillian's smile turned bittersweet. "Yes, I'm the wife you bought with money. I should meet your desires, as expected. But sometimes, your harsh words hurt. Aren't you afraid of making me sad? After all, I'm still your wife."

"You won't be sad because you're a sensible woman. You know losing me means losing your source of income and the luxuries you enjoy," he coolly replied.

Lillian burst into laughter, her flushed cheeks making her even more alluring. "You understand me well, Alpha Terence. You know how much I love money. No wonder we're so compatible in bed. Let's toast to this incredible night," she declared, raising her glass.

Later, as they lay naked, Lillian couldn't deny their physical compatibility, despite the absence of love. It even made her believe that Alpha Maximus cared for her.

Her fingers seductively traced circles on his chest as she flirtatiously said, "Alpha Terence, you truly are quite talented. It's no wonder many women desire you."

Alpha Maximus grabbed her wandering hands firmly. "As long as you're not one of them."

Smirking, Lillian locked eyes with him and asked in a seductive tone, "Aren't you even slightly worried that I'll cling to you?"

His reply was cold, "I don't like women who create unnecessary drama and refuse to let go cleanly."

Still grinning alluringly, Lillian settled against his body with a charming look in her eyes.

"Alpha Terence, don't you worry that your ruthlessness will make me sad?" she provocatively questioned.

Feeling satisfied, Alpha Maximus couldn't resist her charms. "No, you won't be sad."

Smirking, Lillian winked playfully, "That's because I only love the money you give me. Money provides more security than men ever can."

Alpha Maximus's expression changed. "You're an expert at showcasing your materialism."

The smile on Lillian's lips faded slightly, a bitter feeling surfacing within her.

Suddenly drained of her seductive energy, she obediently lay on the bed, her eyes closed.

Alpha Maximus gave her an odd look. "What's wrong with you?"

Lillian kept her eyes shut, not responding.

He turned around, propping his head with a hand. "I thought we were having a great time just a moment ago."

"Alpha Terence, would you believe me if I said I've fallen in love with you?" she blurted out.

Alpha Maximus was stunned before a cold expression settled on his face. "I told you four years ago that you couldn't fall in love with me. We have a transactional relationship, nothing more."
