Chapter 4 4.

His cold blue eyes stare into my chocolate brown ones before I answer, "What did I tell you about bossing me around?"

Troy rakes his fingers through his sandy hair, jaw tense. The elevator signals with a ding, prompting me to swiftly exit, eager to put distance between myself and that guy. I approach Ezekiel, the landlord, and hand over my apartment keys.

"Good morning Ezekiel, I am so sorry but I have to move due to a family emergency. Here is the apartment key, and the rent for this month." I state as I hand him the envelop with the money.

"Oh okay thank you for letting me know. Bye dear." He responds as he takes the money and keys.

"Bye." I reply before running after Troy who was already making his way out.

He lets go of the door as soon as I am about I walk out. Rude much, I thought he was supposed to be a gentleman.

"Sorry to disappoint you sweetie but gentleman isn't in my vocabulary." He states.

Oh shit did I say that out loud?

"Well I thought that your parents at least taught some manners but apparently they didn't." I respond.

"You better stop it with that smart mouth." Troy threatens.

"Or else what?" I ask as I cock an eyebrow.

"Don't test me Alicia, now get in." Troy states as we stop in front of a red Audi Sports Car.

My mouth falls down and Troy closes it, "Close your mouth wouldn't want any flies to get in now would we?"

Unlocking the passenger door, I slide into the car and secure my seatbelt as Troy ignites the engine, which roars to life. Surprisingly, he doesn't even bother with the radio-quite the dull move, making me question my own level of dullness. Peering out of the window, I observe the bustling streets of Miami as we cruise along.

Coming to a halt, I anticipate a grand mansion unveiling before us, but to my surprise, it's a Cartier Jewellery Store that meets my eyes..

"Um what are we doing here?" I ask in confusion.

"Well I realized you didn't have an engagement ring and we can't pull off our lie if you don't have one so I brought you here so you can pick the one you like." He answers as we step out of the car.

I unbuckle myself before stepping out of the car and walking towards the store entrance doors. We walk in an we are greeted by the shine of the expansive looking diamond rings. Beautiful jewelry filled the store and they all looked like they cost millions of billions of dollars. A woman around Troy's age if not a little older, walks behind the counter and smiles at Troy.

"Good morning Troy, how may I help you?" She asks as she twirls a piece of her hair.

"It's Mr. Nulec for you, and would you show me your top engagement rings?" Troy responds.

The woman frowns before taking out two different display trays with various engagement rings on them.

"Which one do you like?" Troy asks.

As I survey the array of diamond rings, they all seem to exude opulence and influence. None manage to capture my interest, except for a singular piece. This particular ring boasts petite diamonds arranged in a charming leaf pattern, with a sizable gem positioned at its centre. It's undeniably beautiful. However, when I glance at the price tag, my eyes widen in disbelief-it's no longer as enchanting.

Troy follows my gaze and asks, "Do you like that one."

I bite my lip and nod.

"Krystal give me this one please." Troy orders.

"No, Troy I can't let you waste five hundred thousand dollars on me?!" I state.

"Don't worry I have the money to buy it plus I am already going to waste ten million dollars on you at the end of the year." He replies.

"Would you like to try it on Mr. Nulec?" She asks.

"Yes please." He replies.

The woman hands him the ring and he slides it into my finger, surprisingly it fit perfectly. Troy takes out his wallet before paying for the ring. I walk out of the store with the ring still on, Troy didn't even let me take it off. He opens the door for me and I smirk.

"I thought gentleman wasn't in your vocabulary?" I ask and Troy just rolls his eyes.

"Just get in." He responds before walking to the drivers seat.

"Uh thanks for the ring." I state.

"You're welcome, it's part of the deal." He replies.

I play around with the ring as look out the window. The clouds seemed to drive with us as drive down the Miami streets.

******************

We finally arrive at the big black iron gates that stood in front of the big mansion.

"James let us in." Troy states before the gates are opened.

"Good day Mr. Nulec." The security guard states as we drive through the gates.

"Good day James." He responds before we park outside the big yellow mansion.

In front of us stood a three story tall building which was painted a nice light yellow and palm trees surrounded it. There was a jacuzzi, two pools link together, a small path leading to a private beach, and a fishing dock. It was beautiful, if this is what it looked on the outside how does it look on the inside.

"Welcome to your new home." Troy states before grabbing my hand and leading us towards the main entrance.

The doors are opened for us and a huge staircase stand in front of us as well as a line of maids and other employees who I assumed worked here.

"Everyone I present to you Alicia, my fiancé and soon to be wife. You are to be at her service at all times, and treat her with the same respect you treat me." Troy states before we start walking down the line. "Alicia I present to you Anna the house keeper, Felix the cook, Erick the gardener, and finally MAry, JAckie, Rose, ASh, and Nicole the maids."

"Welcome Ms. Anderson." They all state in unison.

"Hello." I respond.

"Now let's start your tour." Troy states before leading us towards the kitchen.

It was neat and spotless, everything look fancy yet pretty. It was pretty and if I were a cooking fan I would surely want one of these kitchens. We then arrived at the library.

"I don't really like to read but if you do you, you can come here and read." Troy states.

The library was not so big but not so small but it looked elegant. Many books filled the room as well as the smell of paper.

"I prefer painting better." I respond and Troy seems surprised. "What?"

"Nothing." He respond before leading us towards the garden.

It was had various bright colored flowers and it look beautiful.

"It's very pretty." I state.

"Yeah, Erick takes good care of it." Troy responds. "Anyway let me show you to the last room."

Troy and I walked back inside and up the staircase. We walked down the right hall and stopped at the third door.

"This is going to be your room, that is unless you'd prefer to share a room with me?" He asks his eyes turning a shade darker.

"Nope, I don't want to share a bedroom with a grumpy pants like you." I respond.

"Well this concluded the tour, I have a meeting to attend right now but Mrs. Fernandez will be at your service." Troy states as he looks at his clock.

"Alright bye." I reply.

Surveying my room, I marveled at its sheer size-it dwarfed my old bedroom, easily twice the space. The walls were adorned in a serene shade of beige, and a balcony extended from one side. One door opened to a spacious walk-in closet, while the other revealed an exquisite bathroom. The entire setting exuded an air of opulence that made me apprehensive; everything seemed so upscale that I feared even a gentle touch might lead to breakage.

Returning to the bedroom, I reclined on the plush sofa chair. From this vantage point, I could gaze out the window and behold the vibrant expanse of the clear blue sky.

Huh, staring here for a year might not be so bad after all.
