Chapter 5 Saved my wife

ZACHARY'S POV After my marriage with Miss Delilah, I immediately went to the office for an urgent meeting. "Williams, as you can see, there are numerous ways we can better help you profit from your industry if you use our company. Our importing and exporting section far surpasses that of our competitors." I watched as the CEO of Williams Furnishing thought about my proposal. I had spent months trying to close this deal, and with weeks of back and forth, I knew without a doubt I had this in the bag. A smile lined the man's face as he nodded.

"Let's do it," he replied, holding out his hand, which I quickly shook. "I look forward to our future business together. If you wait just a moment, I will have my assistant, Daniel bring in the paperwork for you to sign, and then we will have someone take you on a tour of the docks so you can see our company at its finest." I said. Daniel brought in the paperwork, Mr. Williams signed it, and then I sent him off for the promised tour. Once he was gone, I reached for my phone which had gone off a few different times during my meeting. I got few messages. I opened it and it was from my best friend Andy. "Why don't you free yourself from so much work and let's have lunch at Cheese garden. I will be waiting and don't you dare refuse me" Shaking my head, I sighed. There was no arguing with him. 'That's fine. I will be there. Give me a minute" I sent back. Just when I dropped my phone on the desk, my office door opened, and in walked a tall blonde with hot red lipstick. Her tight blue dress hugged her in all the right places, but the problem was she wasn't who I wanted to see. "Paulina. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Her lips turned up into a smile as she pushed my chair back and sat on my lap. Paulina was the lady my grandfather chose for me to marry in order to keep this company but I hate pretentious women. I rather marry someone else than her. "Why haven't you come to see me?" Her thick Russian accent washed over me as she leaned back in my lap, batting her lashes. "I had to wait a week and come see you here." She added. "I told you, Paulina, I am busy right now." Her brows furrowed as she put on a pout which may have worked on most men, but not me. L "I thought you would miss me," she whined as I exhaled with irritation. Pinching the bridge of my nose, I shook my head and helped her off my lap. "I told you that I don't do the emotions thing, Paulina." Her lips parted, and her eyes narrowed. "We have been seeing each other for months–" "Yes, and as I told you the first night... there is nothing else that will happen. It's just , Paulina, and you told me you understood that. I don't understand why you came to my company." We had one rule, and she knows what it was. "You are mine, Zachary." Her response was firm as she crossed her arms over her chest. "I don't understand why you are acting like this. Don't I make you happy?" It was clear this conversation wasn't going anywhere, and I had to be with Andy In a few minutes. "Daniel!" I yelled, watching as the door opened to reveal my assistant. "Yes, Mr. Shun?" "Can you please escort Paulina to her car?" I asked her, watching as a look of shock crossed Paulina's face. "Of course." Daniel reached for her arm but was quickly pushed back by the rage that began to build beneath her once enticing eyes. "Are you throwing me out?!" she shrieked. "You can't do this to me!" Amusement filled me as I leaned back in my chair and watched her. That's unattractive. Perhaps this is for the best. "I think you will see that I can. I appreciate your services, Paulina, but they will no longer be needed. I do wish you all the best for the future." Cold. That was how I had to be. I never meant to hurt the women I had relations with, but I couldn't allow them to think it would be more. Not now that I'm married. "You will regret doing this to me!" She warned, causing the corner of my lips to lift. "Is that a threat, Miss Paulina?" Laughing, she shook her head. "No, that's a promise. Karma will get you." Turning on her heels, she stormed out of my office. "You can leave!" I said to Daniel. "Yes, Mr. Shun" he said and left as well As the door closed, I arranged my stuff, preparing to leave the office. I got to cheese garden just in time to meet Andy there. We order some drinks. Congratulations! Should we have dinner with your new wife tonight?" Andy said and I just rolled my eyes at him. "It's not like you don't know the real reason why I got married," i replied coolly without lifting my eyes from my glass of wine. "You truly are inconstant in love. I know your wife would be quite a beauty. Aren't you at least a little bit interested?" Andy was filled with excitement. I paused what i was doing for a split second. I recalled Delilah smooth, milky skin and her face that was as beautiful as a blooming flower. I sighed, "I've seen countless attractive women." "Fair point. An insignificant young lady from no where wouldn't stand a chance to be your wife if you weren't trying to avoid an arranged marriage set up your grandfather. Indeed, she's not a good match for your grand status." He let out a meaningful sigh. "Tsk." I hissed remembering the arranged marriage. "The world is so unfair. We graduated at the same time but you've already climbed to the top of the ladder." Andy suddenly said. "It all comes down to the structure of our brains," i replied, taking a sip from my glass of wine. Andy gritted his teeth at the humiliation. "Forget it, I'll leave this as is. Do me a favor, let's have dinner with several other solicitors of the company tomorrow night after the interview ." "Hmm," i replied. "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom" I said. I stood up and left. The moment that I walked into the corridor, my eyes widened. I saw my wife in the grip of a young man. She was trying to free herself. Immediately I saw the situation Delilah was in, I lost it. I had heard her plea for help. The guy had her pinned, and with every movement he was making, I saw red. "What the fuck is going on here?" I snapped, my eyes narrowing at the man before me. I wanted more than anything to rip him apart and watch him die painfully at my hands. Yet, I wasn't sure why I wanted that so much. Punishing him, yes, I would do that for any woman. But killing him... it made it feel more personal. I watched as the man looked over his shoulder at me and sneered, "Mind your business, young man." "Excuse me?" I sneered, "I think you need to leave... now." He laughed, and with that laugh, I decided not to wait for him to comply. "You heard me..." Before he was able to get another word out, I had grabbed him and dropped him to the floor. My hand on his throat as I stared daggers at him. "I am her husband, and if you don't leave right now, I will make sure you get sue for molesting my wife. Do YOU understand ME?" Fear laced the young man's eyes as I stared down at him. He realized he'd up, and there was no going back from what he'd done. Before he could say anything else, the security men walked up to us. I explained everything to them and the young man was taken out. I wanted to know who he was, and who his family was. They would all pay for the disrespect he had shown not only to me but to my wife as well. Delilah..... Turning to face her, I found her on her knees trying to catch her breath. She was shaken up and seemed to be trying to get her bearings. "Are you okay?" I asked as her eyes fluttered up to meet mine, and she shakily stood. My hand reached out to balance her as she nodded. "I think so," she sighed. "I'm so sorry about that, Mr. Shun" she said. "Call me Zachary " I corrected. "I'm sorry....Mr. Zachary." She whispered, "I think I should go." "Thanks for saving me. I need to go" she said, pushing pass me, obviously avoiding my eyes.
