There is a white marble fountain in the front yard that featured a goddess being worshiped. "Oh, my god!" I screamed excitedly. "Look at this place! It's a paradise" I couldn't help but admire it. The mansion was way more beautiful than my dad own. Carrying a variety of things, i took a deep breath in front of the door. I punched in the password and the door was opened. A friendly smile spread across my face. "Hi, Dave...." I called out. "Meow!" A cat with a white body and light yellow ears was seen lying on the couch lazily. It produced a cute sound in the quiet living room. I blinked. "Dave?" "Meowww!" After the cat stretched its body, it jumped down the couch and walked toward my legs to smell the toys that i was carrying. Uninterested, the cat returned to the couch and lay on it in an arrogant manner. I was speechless. Zachary should have explained this earlier. I had spent the past few hours worrying about being a stepmother! A feeling of helplessness washed over me. I let out a sigh. Then I took a look of the inside. The decor embellished every inch of the Tuscan Valley, highlighting every aspect of a magical home. I settled down and just then, i heard my phone beeped. I dipped my hand into my bag and brought out my phone. I opened it and my eyes widened. 50 missed calls and twenty messages from Mirabel. "Delilah, where are you " "I'm worried. Why aren't you picking your calls?" "Don't act rash. Richie doesn't deserve your tears" "Hey just pick up pls!" I sighed reading all her text. I knew Mirabel has always taken me as her sister. She hates seeing me in pains. "I'm fine Mirabel. Can we meet at Cheese garden by noon?. I have something to tell you!" I text back. It didn't take up to two Minutes before getting a response from here. "Sure. I will be right there. Glad you're safe!" She messaged back. I sighed and dropped my phone. It was few minutes to noon. I decided to prepare breakfast. "I'm starved" I stood up, trying to figure out where the kitchen is. . . . . . "You're married?" Mirabel screamed out as her mouth went agape. "How did this happen?" She asked. "I met him yesterday. He needed a bride and I had no other option than to marry him" I said and her eyes widened. "What the hell!. You married a stranger?" She screamed out. I rolled my eyes. Mirabel can be quite dramatic. "Keep your voice low!" I said. "I didn't have a choice. I needed to get out of my father's house and I needed to get married as well!" I said and Mirabel shook her head. "Marriage isn't something you should play with. You can't just jump into the conclusion of marrying some stranger. You should have thought this through!" She yelled. I rolled my eyes. She's seriously scolding me. Now she's acting like a big sister. "I'm sorry" I muttered and she just rolled her eyes. "It's fine. What are you gonna do now?" She asked and I sighed. "I'm just gonna look for a job to get myself busy. I won't be working with dad anymore. He already made Elena the manager and had promise to handover 80% of the company shares to her" I said. "What?" Mira gasped. "He's such a cruel man. How could he do this to you. You're also his daughter!" She scoffed. "I don't care about any of them anymore. I just wanna live. Excuse me Mira, I got to pee" I muttered and stood up to leave. I left Mira and went to look for the restroom. I was still searching when a young man approached me. "Well, hello gorgeous." Raising a brow, I let my eyes rack over him before a sigh escaped me. "No." "No what?" He asked. I scoffed. I know this type. "Yeah, no," I snorted. "Look, I don't know what you have in mind when you approached me, but I'm not interested, honestly" I said. "Stop playing hard to get. I'm interested in you!" He asked and I scoffed again. "No, I am not the kind of woman to lead a guy on. I am genuinely not interested... I'm sorry, I didn't get your name..." "Alexander," he replied. "What might your name be?" "My name?" The question followed with laughter as he nodded his head. "It's... I'm not interested." I wasn't trying to be this straight forward, but I also wasn't going to beat around the bush. I grew up with the philosophy that it was better to be forward and to the point. He stared at me for a moment with disbelief as I tilted my head, curious about his response. But in shock, he simply smiled. "I like it," he claimed as he tried to lean closer, my eyes widening as I quickly moved back. Was he really trying to make a move on me? "Excuse me, but I told you I wasn't interested," I snapped as I continue walking. "Where are you going, beautiful?" He said. Spinning on my feet, I watched as he stumbled his way towards me. It was clear now this guy had been drinking, and from the way he kept looking at me, he only wanted one thing. "Look, I will say this slower for you, so you understand. I'm not interested, honestly." Laughter left his lips as he walked towards me. "You don't have to lie." "I can assure you I am not lying," I replied, backing away from him. "Now, please just leave me alone." "Leave you alone?" He laughed again. "Women wish they could be in your shoes. I am one of the most eligible men here in this city...." "Please, stop!" I yelled at him as he pushed me into the wall. My heart raced, and my palms were clammy. The last thing I wanted was to be in this situation, but at the same time, I didn't want to attack the man. I just wanted him to leave me alone. "I think you're just scared. I promise I won't hurt you." Was this man serious?! "How dare you?!" I screamed. "You don't know me, and you have no right to talk to me" "You think so?" He pinned his body on me. I knew exactly what was going through his mind, but there was no way I was going to let that happen. Thinking fast, I brought my knee up and clocked him between his legs. He gasped in pains. "You!" he roared as his hand came up, slapping me across the face. He had hit me, and my desperation in getting away became even more real. "Let me go!" I yelled, hoping anyone would come to intervene. I didn't want to be the woman who was sexually assaulted. "Stop, stop." He laughed as I struggled against him. "Stop fighting me, darling. Let me show you how to pleasure a woman. I will forgive you for your actions just a moment ago." "Get the off me!" I screamed as his hand came over my mouth. "Oh, baby come on....." he panted. "I know you want this." "What the hell is going on here?" I heard a Familiar voice. I snapped my head to the direction of the voice and I was surprised to see Zachary, My husband. Alexander turned, looking over his shoulder, and scoffed. "Mind your business, young man." I bit my lip knowing he's aware this man right here is my husband but with the way Zachary eyes narrowed and his fists clenched, I could tell he was about to find out. "Excuse me?" Zachary sneered, "I think you need to leave her alone.... now." I found myself wary about the way he spoke, and I would have sworn that this guy would have as well. However, that wasn't the case. "You heard me..." Before Alexander could finish his sentence, Zachary grabbed him by the neck and brought him in close. "I am her husband , and if you don't leave right now, I will make sure to sue you for molesting my wife. Do YOU understand ME?" Trepidation spiraled through me as I watched the scene unfold. Alexander was ripped from my body, and as he was, I fell to my knees on the floor, trying to catch my breath and calm my racing heart. If Zachary had not stepped in, god knows what would have happened. The guy was much bigger than me, and I was already having a hard time fighting him off. The two men struggled in the corridor until security arrived, and he had him thrown from the place. I can't believe he just rescue me. "Are you okay?" He asked, pulling me from my thoughts. My eyes slowly met his as my breath caught in my throat. Through everything I had just gone through... He took my breath away and set my body on fire.
