Chapter 5 A Stunning Mother and Child

"Mom, don't listen to her nonsense." When Alice noticed the suspicion on Phoebe's face, her heart stung, and she quickly comforted Phoebe.

"Nonsense? I'm not talking nonsense. Richard and I saw what you did in the hotel yesterday clearly. I even have photos on my phone."

As Celeste spoke, she found the photos of Alice in a mess this morning on her phone. Raising it high, she put it in front of Phoebe smugly.

"Get lost, Celeste Maynard!"

Immediately, Alice reached out to grab Celeste's phone, but it was too late as her mother had already seen her embarrassed appearance in the photo. With that, she became so angry that her face turned red, pointing at Alice but could not say a word.

"Mom, what's wrong with you? Please don't scare me, Mom!"

Suddenly, Phoebe collapsed and convulsed, foaming at her mouth. Upon seeing that, Alice hurriedly went up to her and asked anxiously, not caring about Celeste anymore.

"Doctor, doctor—"

At once, her heart-wrenching shout echoed in the hospital, trembling one's heart.

Eventually, Phoebe passed out and never woke up again.

Six years later, at the airport.

A stunning mother and child attracted the attention of the passers-by and looked at them lovingly.

"Mommy, is this where you used to live?"

Pulling a small suitcase, the five-year-old child, who was wearing the same sunglasses as his mother, asked softly.

As Alice glanced at the familiar yet unfamiliar surroundings, she nodded and answered, "Yes, this is the place where I used to live."

After six years, she was finally back.

Six years ago, Alice had a one-night stand with a stranger as framed by Celeste. Following that, Richard broke off their engagement. Then, Celeste went to the hospital to humiliate her mother, causing her mother to have a heart attack and pass away due to anger.

After Phoebe's death, Stanley, her so-called biological father, broke off their relationship right away.

Later, Alice found out that she was already one month pregnant after Phoebe's funeral.

Initially, she wanted to have an abortion, but she became timid the moment she got on the operating table and ended up keeping it. Six years had passed, and this child had become the most important person in her life.

Turning to the child beside her, Alice tousled his hair dotingly with a loving smile.

"Mommy, don't touch my hair. It will get messy."

Pouting, he said in displeased.

"Heh, you're so smug!"

"Well, you're good-looking, Mommy. That's why I'm so handsome. Of course, I have to dress up well since I'm good-looking."

The child, Boyo Maynard, replied proudly, not forgetting to compliment Alice.

Upon hearing that, she smiled. Boyo had been very sensible and well-behaved since he was younger. When he was born, he looked delicate, just like a doll. Even the nurses in the hospital said that they had never seen a child born so prettily.
