Chapter 4 Finding Myself

"Everly, you have been in this room for a week. You have to leave this room sometime."

"No, Aimi. I don't want to see people, I just want to be left alone." There is a knock at my door, Byron walks in.

"Little sister, it is time you got out of this room. You and I are going for a run and let our wild side out. I will not take no for an answer. In ten minutes, downstairs."

Reluctantly I got dressed and joined Byron at the bottom of the stairs. "I don't want to run."

"Do it for me. Come outside and we can head for the lake and take a swim." I shrugged my shoulders and followed my brother. Once I shifted into my wolf, Kiara, I start to feel better, stronger somehow.

"You can count on me to help you, Everly. I will always be with you."

"Thanks, Kiara. You know how I feel, you went through it with me."

"This is only going to make us stronger if you don't give up. We can make it through this, you and me."

"Byron, you trained me, but I want to get better. Train me again so I can fight harder and protect myself, I want to fight like you."

"You do know fighting couldn't have helped you, not with what happened? It wouldn't have helped me either."

"I know that, but I also know that in my life there will be others that try to hurt me. I want to make sure that no one can ever hurt me again."

"You have a larger wolf than most, you are my size and still have growing to do. Your skills and your strength can't fix everything."

"I know that, but it will make me feel safer. Byron, I don't want to live in the pack house anymore. It feels like they are all watching me. I want a house of my own. Maybe over by Aimi and her mom, please. I can't stand the way people are looking at me."

"I will see what I can find. You and I can start training in the morning."

"Good, no one is ever going to hurt me again." I stood stronger in my wolf form and feeling proud of Kiara for giving me the strength that I needed.

True to his word he starts training me again the next day, having his Beta Justin join in from time to time. After training on the fourth day Byron informs me, "I have found you a house, it is down the street from Aimi, and you have two men that are in a relationship with each other that live next door."

"Byron, thank you. You have no idea what this means to me, you really don't."

"It has furniture and food, all you need to do is bring your clothes and personal items."

"That will be great. Aimi might even help me pack. I'll call her right now." This is the first time I have really smiled in a week.

"Alpha, can I see you in the office please."

"We will talk later, take your time packing. One of my men can help you bring the stuff out to your car." Byron heads off to his office to see what Justin wants. "What is it?"

"The counsel sent down their decision about you killing Martin. They said with the evidence given them that you have been exonerated from all wrong doings."

"That's good, what did they say about the other?" Everly is in the hall and the door is open.

"If she is pregnant, they gave permission for her to get rid of it."

"We wouldn't have to worry about this if the hospital didn't screw up. How could they not give the morning after pill and then tell us they did. Incompetent people."

"The hospital said you left before they had time to give it to her."

"It doesn't matter, she is not going to have a pup for that pack, they are dirty mindless wolves. They are not going to get our blood line mixed with theirs. I'd see it dead first." He is so angry his wolf is on edge. Ready to tear someone apart.

"His brother is pissed and is out for blood, he said we made up the reports and he did not do anything wrong. That Everly gave herself to him and wants to save face and not look like the whore that she is."

"Those words mean war and we will take out his pack."

Everly runs into the room after hearing all this. "You will not go to war over this, it is hard enough to live with. I could not take anyone dying over this."

"They can't get away saying those things."

"Let the report stand for what is right, and then make a public statement that will put him in his place. You are good at that. Byron, you can't kill innocent wolves over this. Please promise."

"All I can promise is as long as he does not start fighting and he closes his mouth, I will not attack him or his pack. But he continues I will not tolerate it."

"I understand you have to protect the pack and you can't look weak." I keep my head facing the floor as I talk, my sadness pouring off me.

"What did you come in here for?" Byron says trying to calm down.

"Nothing that important, just wanted to thank you again and tell you Aimi was coming over. She is spending the night." Byron nods his agreement.

I walk back to my room thinking, I can't be pregnant. Byron wants me to kill the pup if I am. I don't know how I feel about this. It's part of me, it's alive. How do you kill something that's a part of me, no matter how it got there? Let me talk to Aimi, see what she has to say.

"Hey girl, I hear you are moving by me. We are going to party you and me. Sleepovers every day. Aimi sees I'm upset. What's wrong you look like someone hit you in the gut?"

"I heard my brother talking. He said that if I am pregnant, I have to get rid of it. He will kill it before he mixes our line with Martin's blood line. I know what he did was wrong, but what if he was my mate and he was just a bad mate. I would be killing mine and my mate's pup." Tears are falling again. "I can't kill a fly how am I going to let them kill my baby if I am pregnant? I wouldn't be able to live with myself." Aimi reaches over to me and just holds me.

"We will fix it somehow. I can help don't worry, mom can help too. I know she will help, she loves you as much as me and she will figure something out. First let's get you moved and wait to see if you have something to worry about."

"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. I'm most likely not so all this worry for nothing. I pray to the moon goddess that I'm not pregnant."

"We need to pack up all your clothes and doodads. How about we order pizza and watch movies when we're done?"
