Chapter 4 Four

Chapter 4.

There was a prophecy that said that my mate would be a human but she would be special, as she would have the ability to communicate with animals, and also the gift of healing.

"Mate" I growled and she raised up her head to look at me, giving me her whole attention.

" You say what?" She asked, her green orbs sparkling brightly.

" Nothing" I lied, and she nodded and went back to tending to my wounds.

' She looked so innocent' I thought glancing at her fully, observing her features carefully. Her skin was pale, making her green orbs sparkle. She had a straight well pointed nose, full cheekbones, cherry red lips and strangely, a long green hair which matches with her eye color.

" Does your strange hair probably have anything to do with your powers?" I asked curiously, and she halt with her movement on my leg before slowly raising up her head to meet with my eyes hesitantly.

"Why do you ask?" She inquired and I grinned.

" I am not someone with an evil motive, if that is what you are wondering," I told her hoping to clear any doubt she might have about me and her cat mown before moving to her feet and nudging her gently diverting her attention away from me.

I surprisingly felt mad about that, which was strange.

She bent towards her cat and I think it whispered something funny to her for she giggled before saying.

" Jealous much," I fought the urge to roll my eyes, just glancing at her amazingly charming feature which I just noticed.

" You know my name, but I have no idea what yours is" I told her and grimaced at my lie.

' She does know a name but it's a fake one' I thought feeling bad, for hiding my name and identity from her, but it's better that way. My enemies would not be after her that way and my survivor's life would not be in danger.

" So, what is your name?" I asked and she smiled before answering.

" Emily" She replied and what she said next surprised me. " And my cat here name is Skylar, but I call her Sky for short" She added and I froze.

' I never asked for the name of her cat' I thought and turned my gaze to the white fluffy animal only to meet it shivering under my gaze. The fluffy animal was even glancing at me timidly before I turned to look at it and when our gaze met, it looked away sharply, obviously terrified and I grinned.

' Was I that terrifying?' I wondered.

" Are you seriously asking that? My Lycan wolf" Zack my inner wolf whispered in my head.

" What do you mean?" I asked, replying him with a question.

" Even both humans, werewolves, Lycan and animals find you scary" He began and I signed. " More so of a small pet cat" He commented.

" And we both know the reason why those bounty werewolves tried to kill you is because someone out of there, one of your multiple enemies"

" One of our multiple enemies" I corrected, cutting him off, and he growled in my head..

" I do not make the enemies remember, you do" He said. " It's just a pity we share the same body" He added,and I fought the urge to chuckle.

" I wonder who scratches their faces off" I mocked, and he kept quiet before scoffing and continuing.

" So as I was saying before you interrupted" He said and I nodded, my attention on him. The fluffy, white, cute, pet cat already disappeared and was hiding beside Emily's foot away from my sight I guess.

Emily on the other hand, did not notice anything strange and kept on tending to my wounds.

" One of your enemies placed a bounty on you" Zack said, and I kept quiet thinking or should I say wondering who had the guts or was bold enough to do such.

" Which means we lie low for a while and give them what they want" I told him. " My death" I added.

" Exactly, that will make their guards drop, and they will not be aware when we strike. We return unexpectedly" He added.

" Alright but first, I need to get a letter to Raven to investigate the bastard who will probably be behind this failed assassination".

" They almost succeeded, if not for our mate, who luckily came into the forest and found you in time" He reminded.

" You knew she was our mate and did not make any signal?" I asked in disbelief. " Why?" I asked again.

" Nothing, thought you sensed it" He replied giving me a silly excuse.

" You know that's a silly excuse right?" I asked Zack but he just kept quiet.

" You are me, and I am you, so you are supposed to know if I sensed it and on a norm, you are supposed to inform me first" I reminded him.

" You keep forgetting I am a Lycan and not a wolf. We react differently to the presence of our Mates" He said and I scoffed.

" I am done" I heard Emily's voice distracting me from my conversation with Zack. I turned to look at her with a raised eyebrow and saw her on her knees smiling brightly at me. Her smile was so contagious, I felt like returning it but the mighty Lycan is known to smile just twice in a year and that is if necessary.

I directed my gaze away from her face and to my leg, to see it neatly bandaged with no sign of blood on it. I looked around the rest of my injured body parts and met the same bandages. I turned to her with a grin. The closest I can offer her to a smile and appreciated.

" Thank you". " I really appreciate everything" I told her, but she just shrugged it off with her hands.

" It's really nothing" She told me.

" How do I repay you?" I asked and she giggled.

" Of course not', you do not need to" She replied, and I arched my eyebrows at her finding myself, wondering what kind of creature I just encountered.

" Why?" I asked.

" Nothing. I helped you out of a sense of duty and I love doing so to everyone, so it's really not a big deal" She answered, and I fought the urge to gasp.

' Does such nice creatures still exist?' I wondered.

" Okay. If you insist" I told her and she nodded.

" Please, is there a way, I can send a letter across to a friend quite a long distance from here?" I asked and she nodded.

" It's easy, just use the crow" She answered and I muttered "Oh".

" Also, do you know a nearby inn I can rent a room?" I asked and she nodded.

" Where?" I asked.

" My house" She replied and I found my mouth agape in shock.

" What?".
