Chapter 4 The Awakening

Chapter 4

Rays of light filtered through the blinds. The sun had risen early. Lucy slipped out from under the beddings. She sat up like a lost creature.

Cold breeze blew gently through the opened window and tossed her curly hair over her face.

She jerked her head backwards and pushed her hair behind as she removed a few strands that had glued to her face.

She rose up and walked to one of the stools in her room.

It held the painkillers Brian had brought.

She slipped another dose into her mouth and pushed it down with a glass of water.

There was a knock at her door. It was Brian.

"I trust you are awake by now. I will soon be leaving for the store. I have drawn a warm water bath for you.... If you really don't want your mother to suspect something, you need to be a good actress," Brian said from behind the door.

"Thanks Brian," Lucy responded. She undressed and walked quietly into the bathroom.

Warm water flowed ravishingly through her velvet skin.

She scrubbed hard at the few marks left on her neck and thighs as if she wanted to change her skin.

She shivered as she remembered how Philip ravaged her body. She touched her opening times without numbers, hoping she's fine.

Water droplets tumbled down her skin as she made her way back to her room naked.

She regarded her body for a while before draping a towel over herself.

Lauren was too angry to notice her daughter's discomfort. She saddled her with chores and scolded her repeatedly.

Lucy got busy with laundry. She was still washing when Lauren left for work.

Few minutes later, there was a knock at the door. Lucy opened up and found Richard standing by the door.

"What the heck are you doing here!?" She yelled. "Yeah! I am sorry... You have every right to be angry... I just wanted to ensure you are better. I mean...I," Richard stuttered.

"You're sorry!? And where is that bastard!? Get the fuck away from me!" Lucy yelled and banged the door on his face.

Richard tarried longer before walking away. He rang Brian repeatedly but he refused to pick up.

Lucy cried so hard, resting her back behind the door before she resumed her chores. She worked like a manic and soon she was done. Once she was alone and idle, her thoughts wandered and her mind reverted back to the ranch.

She fought hard to repress the memories but she noticed an unusual sensation in her body.

The feeling was alien but she knew what it was. She was hot and horny. Her body was craving to be filled. She wanted sex.

It was dusk. Brian had just finished for the day. He made remittance to his boss and found his way into the already dark street.

He had just walked for a few minutes when a car halted beside him. It was Richard, he stuck out his head and beckoned Brian but Brian ignored him.

Richard had no choice, he got out of the car and followed after him. After much persuasion, Brian agreed to his request, he followed him back into the car and Richard drove down to one of their favorite bars.

"Green bottles please!" Richard ordered. Silence ensued between the two friends until the bartender returned with their drinks.

Brian opened up the cork and sipped the liquor. He breathed in noisily as the hot drink flowed down his throat.

"How is Lucy? I am really concerned about her... I checked up on her this morning but she wouldn't see me..." Richard broke the silence.

"How dare you show up before her!?" Brian yelled and banged the table hard.

Richard heaved a sigh, he sipped from his glass and tried to approach the issue cautiously.

"Brian, I am sorry," he said.

"You're sorry? Why? You did nothing wrong... where is that bastard!? He ought to be groveling at her feet!" Brian yelled and all other patrons in the bar stared at him.

"We've been good friends.... my brother screwed things up mistakenly," Richard stuttered.

"Did you just call what happened a mistake? Did he even feel sorry? Mistake my foot!" Brian said.

"Philip is grounded for now, he will come to apologize as soon as he is free... Trust me," Richard promised. He dug his hand into his pocket and brought out an envelope.

"Dad asked me to give you this," he said and pushed the brown envelope slightly across the table.

Brian opened the envelope and found bundles of new notes."And what could this be for?" He asked with his looks, throwing daggers.

"For the bills. I am not a daft, I know Lucy might need to visit the hospital," Richard said in concern.

"What the fuck are you playing at!? Are you paying for your brother's stupidity or is this the price for my sister's virginity? You bunch of lunatics!" Brian yelled.

"Listen... Your brother raped my sister and the only reason I have not done justice is because it's what Lucy wanted!" He added.

"That's why we're offering you a reasonable amount of money to take care of her," Richard said smoothly.

Brian hit his fist hard on the table causing the drinks to spill. "Keep the damn shit to yourself!" He said and walked out of the bar angrily.

" If only I could have my way!! Swears I would draw more blood from that dickhead and feed him with his flesh" Brian thought to himself angrily.

He hailed down a cab and returned home. He bumped into the sitting room angrily only to meet Lauren's questioning gaze. He greeted her shabbily and made his way into his room.

"I have been waiting for you. Get Lucy from her room and get your ass down here," Lauren ordered. Brian nodded and made his way towards Lucy's room. He knocked and Lucy opened up immediately. She had heard her mother and she was already standing by the door.

"Mum asked for you," Brian said and peeped into Lucy's room. Books were scattered here and there. It was obvious she had picked herself up and she had started to prepare for her exams again.

Brian led Lucy to Lauren. They took their seat and their mother began. "I had intended to send you down to the suburbs but Brian pleaded on your behalf. He promised to help you study this time. This is your last chance Lucy. I won't tolerate failure this time," Lauren said and Lucy nodded.

" I saw the prompt today. Another examination starts in a month's time. It's enough time to get prepared ...just like I had promised, I will help her study this time" Brian said and nudged Lucy to say something.

"Yes mum, I will surprise you this time," Lucy said abruptly and Lauren eyed her meaningfully.

Lauren lingered in the sitting room while Brian and Lucy returned to their respective rooms.

Once in her room, Lucy heaved a sigh and leaned against the door.

She gave a last look at the books littered on the floor and flung herself on the bed.

A sad smile spread across her face as she retired to sleep. "What nice timing.. I'll be busy for the next month... It's a nice way to put out the fire burning in my loins," She muttered and clamped her eyes shut.
