Jenny and I arrived at the hospital, our footsteps echoing in the empty hallways. It was late at night, and the hospital was quiet except for the occasional beep of machines and the soft murmur of nurses.
I looked around anxiously, my heart racing. I was worried sick about my mother, who had been admitted to the hospital earlier that month. I had been working tirelessly to save up the money for her surgery, and I felt like time was running out.
Jenny placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, we'll find her. And everything's going to be okay."
We finally located my mother's room, and I pushed the door open quietly. My mother was asleep, hooked up to various machines and IVs.
My heart broke as I saw my mother in that vulnerable state. I wished I could do more to help her, but I had exhausted all my options in trying to come up with the money for the surgery.
Jenny saw the tears in my eyes and pulled me into a hug. "It's okay, Elena. We're here for you and your mom. We'll get through this together."
I wiped my tears and nodded. "Thank you, Jenny. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Jenny smiled. "That's what friends are for. We'll get through this, okay?"
We sat by my mother's bedside, keeping a watchful eye over her and whispering words of encouragement. As the night wore on, I began to feel more and more exhausted, but I refused to leave my mother's side.
Jenny noticed me struggling and gently urged me to rest. "Elena, you need to take care of yourself too. You can't help anyone if you're exhausted."
I reluctantly agreed and settled into a nearby armchair, my eyes drooping with exhaustion.
Jenny sat beside me and held my hand. "Just close your eyes and rest, Elena. I'll keep watch over your mom and wake you if anything happens."
I nodded gratefully and closed my eyes, my breathing gradually evening out as I drifted off to sleep.
Jenny sat there in the quiet of the hospital room, watching over me and my mother. She knew that things were tough right now, but she also knew that with love and support, we could get through anything.
**************
Jenny and I walked slowly out of the hospital. My face was crowded with sadness as my mom's health was deteriorating, and there is nothing I can do.
I mean, how can I find $5 million within two weeks? That's a huge amount of money.
As we stepped into the cool evening air, my eyes glistened with unshed tears.
Jenny knew that I needed a lifeline. I had to find a way to help my friend, to save my mother. The weight of our desperation hung heavily upon us as we sat down on a nearby bench.
I sighed, my voice laced with despair. "Jenny, I don't know what to do. We have exhausted all our options, and time is running out. How can we ever gather such a huge amount of money?"
Jenny took my trembling hands in her own, offering a small smile of encouragement. "We can't give up just yet. Remember Kendall? The leader of the K3. We can ask him for help, he is wealthy enough to help."
My eyes widened in surprise. "Jenny, that was just a random encounter. I barely know him. How can I possibly ask him for such a huge favor?"
Jenny's voice softened as she replied, "Desperate times call for desperate measures, Elena. We need to explore every possible avenue. What if Kendall is willing to help? You and I know that he can help you within the blink of an eye. He is so wealthy that the amount we asked for will seem like nothing to him."
I hesitated, my mind a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. I had always been independent, never relying on anyone for help. But my mother's life hung in the balance, and I couldn't let pride stand in the way.
With a deep breath, I reached for my phone and dialed Kendall's number. The phone rang for what felt like an eternity before he finally answered. "Hello?"
"Hi, Kendall. It's Elena," I said, my voice trembling with nervousness.
There was a brief pause on the other end before Kendall replied, "Elena? I wasn't expecting to hear from you. Is everything okay?"
My heart raced as I struggled to find the right words. "Kendall, I need your help. My mother is gravely ill, and she requires an expensive surgery. I know this is a lot to ask, but I'm desperate. Can you help me?"
A minute of silence followed before the cold voice replied. "I have been waiting for you to ask for help for a very long time. I know about your mom's sickness and how she needed $5 million for surgery."
My eyes nearly popped out of its socket. "How.....how did you know?"
"Well, I have my ways." His deep voice answered.
" I'm willing to provide the necessary funds, but I have one condition." A corny smile appeared on his face.
My heart sank, bracing myself for the condition that Kendall would impose. I steadied my voice and asked, "What is it?"
"Let me make it a secret for now." He paused. "Send me the name of the hospital and your mom's name, expect the money by tomorrow......only if you agree to the condition."
"Can you at least tell me the condition?" I asked over the phone, my voice shaking while Jenny held my free hand tightly.
She squeezed my hand with an 'accept' expression on her face. "Ok. I accept."
"Don't forget you owe me a favor." The corny man reminded me.
"I will not forget. All I need right now is help, my mom has done a lot for me. I can't watch her die." A tear escaped my eye.
