Jenny stood quietly at the edge of the room, before tiptoeing her way towards the sleeping me who was lying sprawled across the bed, my mouth slightly pouted as I breathed softly. Jenny had a mischievous twinkle in her eye, and she was holding a bucket of water.
Jenny crept closer and closer, trying her best to suppress her giggles. Finally, she reached my bed, and with one quick motion, she tipped the bucket over, drenching me with cold water.
I jolted awake with a gasp, sputtering as I tried to catch my breath. I looked up at Jenny, my hair and pajamas soaked through, and then a smile slowly spread across my face.
"Jenny!" I exclaimed between laughter and coughs. "What the heck!"
Jenny giggled and handed me a towel to dry off. "I couldn't resist," she said with a grin.
I rolled my eyes good-naturedly and started to dry myself off. We were still laughing and chatting when suddenly, the doorbell rang. We both looked at each other, wondering who it could be.
Jenny rushed to answer the door, and there lay many colorful flowers and some shopping bags that were filled to the brim.
"Wow!" Jenny's jaw dropped. "Did you order these?"
I scoffed. "Can I order these, when my mom is still at the hospital waiting for me to come with cash, so she can have her surgery."
I stared in disbelief at the colorful array of flowers and wrapped packages sitting on my doorstep. I hadn't been expecting any deliveries, and the mysterious allure of unexpected gifts piqued both my curiosity and trepidation. With a tinge of caution, I picked up the small envelope attached to the bouquet and carefully opened it.
Inside was a handwritten note that simply read, "For Elena, with fondest memories of a magical night."
My heart skipped a beat as I recognized the distinctive message. It was from the man I had a one night stand with just a few weeks ago. Flashes of our passionate encounter rushed through my mind, accompanied by the lingering feelings of both desire and uncertainty, and I blushed uncontrollably.
"Who's that that got my friend tomato red?" Jenny teased with a naughty smirk on her face.
"I'm...I'm not blushing." I lied.
"I see." Jenny laughed.
I hesitated for a moment, torn between curiosity and self-preservation. Eventually, curiosity won, and I opened the gifts one by one. The first package revealed a delicate necklace, its shimmering pendant catching the light. It was a beautiful, yet undeniably intimate gift. The second package contained a small box of premium chocolates-a sweet and tempting indulgence.
"Wow!" Jenny gasped as she looked at the packages. "How did he f*cking get to know that you love chocolates! What the heck!"
I beamed. "I'm as surprised as you are babe."
As I held these tokens from our brief encounter, I couldn't help but feel a mixture of surprise and excitement. I thought it was a fleeting moment between us, nothing more than a physical encounter. Yet here he was, thinking about me and going out of his way to send me gifts.
My phone pinged, and I saw a text from the same man. "I hope you like them. Can we talk?" The message made my heart race, and I felt a mix of nervous anticipation and hesitation.
Without second thought, I decided to call him. I wanted to know what he was thinking, why he sent me these gifts. As the phone rang, I felt a sudden surge of emotions.
"Hello?" His voice was deep and raspy, but his words were cautious.
"Hi, it's Elena," I said, trying to remain composed. "I got your gifts."
There was a long pause on the other end of the line before he spoke again. "I know it might be too much, but I just wanted you to know that I've been thinking about you."
My mind raced as I tried to process his words. I wasn't sure what I wanted from him, but I couldn't deny the pull I felt towards him.
"I don't know what to say," I finally breathed. "I wasn't expecting this."
"I know," he replied. "But I couldn't deny the fact that I want to see your face."
Jenny and I looked at each other bewildered. "I mean......I wouldn't be able to make it."
Jenny gasped at me in shock with a 'why?' look on her face.
"Why?" His deep voice chuckled. "Are you trying to avoid me?"
"I mean.....what we had was a one night stand. I am not ready to get along with any guy." I muttered with betrayal all over my face.
His voice deepened. "Because of Steven?"
"Don't you dare bring Steven to this conversation." My anger flared up.
"Don't you dare f*cking yell at my face!" He yelled across the phone; Jenny and I flinched. "Listen! You belong to me. YOU ARE MINE!"
He cut the call.
Jenny observed as I finished my call with the billionaire, and it was apparent from my expression that something had gone awry with the mention of my cheating boyfriend.
Seeing me frustrated, Jenny gently inquired, "What happened? Was that the billionaire on the phone?"
I sighed heavily. "Yes, it was him. He was spurting some nonsense I couldn't bear."
Jenny's eyebrows furrowed. "And how did it go? I sense there's an issue."
I frowned. "I... um, wasn't exactly pleasant. I got a little rude with him. I just couldn't tolerate his arrogant attitude."
Concern etched on her face, Jenny leaned forward. "Elena, you have to be careful. You never know who you're dealing with, especially when it comes to influential people. A billionaire could open doors for you and could close them."
I crossed my arms defensively. "I get that, but I can't bear his jargon. How can he bring Steven to the conversation?! How did he even know where I lived? He is definitely a stalker."
Jenny nodded empathetically. "I understand your frustration, but there's a better way to handle it. You can assert yourself respectfully while still expressing your displeasure."
I sighed, feeling a mix of guilt and defiance. "Ok....ok."
'YOU ARE MINE!' his voice echoed in my mind.
