Chapter 5 Do You Know You're Hot

Nancy's POV

Next day....

I stood waiting for the elevator to open up, then I heard the one voice I wasn't expecting at that moment.

' Good morning Ms. Nancy ' He called and I turned to his direction, obviously it was Xavier.

Oh! please not now!!!

' Good morning sir ' I greeted back, just then the elevator opened and I quickly rushed in, he also came in, hitting my nose with his nice cologne.

*He smells so good* I thought as I sniffed.

Nancy get a grip!

Geez! Why do I have to be so unfortunate this morning?

Just as i tried to press the button, indicating our floor, his hand grazed against mine, I withdrew my hand immediately.

' I'm so sorry, I didn't know you wanted to press it ' I said in a rush, without even sparing him a glance.

' No, it's okay, I'm equally at fault too ' He said, then I heard him chuckle.

what's so funny? is he mocking me?

I wanted to glare at him, but I decided against it. So, I just stood wishing the elevator would just get to our floor already.

Being in an enclosed place with him as this one, was driving me nuts.

As if the heavens read my thought, the chiming sound of the elevator came, it hadn't even finished opening when I rushed out, now my small body comes in handy.

I increased my pace, so he wouldn't keep up with me. The other workers greeted him, but he barely gave a reply. As soon as I got to the office, I pushed the door open and walked in, I dropped my bag on my table and sat on my chair, then I paused for a moment to regularize my breath.

Just then, he walked in unbuttoning his suit and hung it on a stand, then went to his table.

' Oh ' I muttered as I remembered something, then stood up and walked to his table.

' Sir, the press would like to know when you'd hold the press conference regarding the new investment in La Sierra Jewelries ' I said.

' Tell them tomorrow ' He replied.

' Okay sir ' I said and went back to my table, then I made a call to the press.

Xavier's POV

This girl keeps amazing me every single time, I saw how she reacted in the elevator and how she tried to run away from me earlier.

I glanced towards her table, she was pretty busy, doing this and that. I must say i'm impressed, she's really a fast learner. I mean... she just came yesterday and she knows what to do.

But why is she avoiding me?

On a normal day, ladies throw themselves at me, which means I can get any lady I want. But she's different, she doesn't cling to me.

Is she scared of me?

I don't look scary, do I?

She better not make things difficult for me, she's stuck with me till I get what I want from her.

Just then, a call came through and I had to tear my gaze from her, I picked up my phone and smiled, when I saw the caller. I pressed on the answer button and placed the phone on my ear.

' Hey bro! ' I said to my brother.

' Hey, I just got to America' He replied.

' I thought you weren't supposed to be in America till six months from now ' I said with a frown.

' Xavier, I had to change my plans, I want to hasten my wedding with Lucia '

' So you changed your plans because of a fucking woman? ' I asked with irritation.

' Bro, if I could move the earth for her, I would '

What the fuck has gotten into Connor?

' I don't know you anymore ' I muttered.

' That's what love does, you know?'

' You know what? I'd talk to you later ' I quickly said and cut the call.

If I hadn't done that, he would have lectured me about love and the importance of getting married. Those shits are just not my thing, love is what I wouldn't get myself into, not after what happened to me.

' Sir, you have a 10pm meeting with the stakeholders in the board room ' I heard Nancy's voice,

I raised my head to look at her, then said

' Okay, get the necessary documents '

' Okay sir ' She replied, then turned.

Good gracious! I nearly whistled as I watched her hips swirled, I would be having a better view of those backsides soon and I would have them in my hands.

Nancy's POV

We both left for the board meeting, with him in front. I watched how he walked gracefully with his big body. I'm sure no one would even see me from the front, because his body is way bigger compared to my small body.

Every single person we came in contact with, slightly bowed with a greeting, which he barely replied, I was amazed at the kind of respect he gained. Obviously, they had to give him that respect, except they have another job elsewhere.

' Ms. Nancy!' I heard someone call my name and I turned to the direction it was coming from, it was Chloe.

She waved at me with a smile and I waved back. Then she mouthed

' See you at lunch '

And I just nodded with a smile.

' I see you've made a friend ' I heard Xavier say.

' Y...yes sir ' I found myself stuttering.

' I see, that's nice ' Was all he said.

I heaved a sigh of relief, I thought he was about to scold me for making friends with someone, he shouldn't dare cause he would have to explain to me wether not making friends was part of my job prescription.

When we got to the board room, the stakeholders were already seated but they all stood up as soon as we walked in. He sat at the head of the table, then they followed suit.

Wow! My eyes widened, I'm sure all these men and women here are old enough to be his parents, but I could see the fear he instilled in them.

' Sit' He suddenly said.

' Sir? '

' Sit on that chair ' He repeated, gesturing to an empty chair closed to his.

' Oh...okay sir ' I said and quickly sat on it.

Then the meeting commenced.

After a while, it ended, he stood up and I had to picked up the documents, then I followed him behind.

When we entered the office, he suddenly stopped walking, making me stop too, then he turned to look at me, he moved closer to me, the space between us was barely three feet away.

I felt a lump in my throat that moment, the next thing he said almost took me off balance.

' Do you know you're hot?'

Oh God!
