Chapter 4 Abuse And Slap

Nadine had planned to withstand Tricia's fury before responding. However, Tricia's insult to her mother crossed a line.

Nadine protested, "You can reprimand me, but please leave my mom out of it!"

Witnessing Nadine's defiance, Domenic intervened, his tone stern. "Nadine, is this the respect you show my wife? Worried about gossip? Others may not know you are the woman in the scandalous photo, but we know!"

Domenic's self-righteous display was sickening. Nadine, unfazed, retorted with irony, "Dad, your own actions aren't a secret. Who are you to judge?"

With a sharp slap, Domenic struck her face, leaving a bright red mark.

Nadine was no stranger to such treatment since rejoining the Wheeler family.

Familiar as it was, the hurt remained.

Brushing the blood from her lip, Nadine lost all interest in explaining herself, taking pleasure in their agitation.

She declared bluntly, "Yes, I'm the homewrecker in the news. I disrupted their relationship. So what? Are you happy now?"

Domenic, shaking with fury, pointed at her.

"Dad, remember, I am your daughter. Your blood, your genes are mine. So, if I'm despicable, we both are," Nadine spat out, stressing "despicable" with scorn.

Domenic's complexion turned a stark shade of gray, his rage unmistakable. His lips quivered, and his eyes rolled back before he unexpectedly collapsed.

"Domenic! What's wrong?"

Tricia, panicked, saw him fall and hurriedly called an ambulance.

Nadine stood still, shocked. Her aim was to provoke, not to trigger such a severe reaction.

Tricia relentlessly accused Nadine of bringing bad luck, from the moment Domenic was rushed to the emergency room until he was settled in a ward.

Nadine, seated beside his bed, felt her phone vibrate in her pocket.

It was a call from Caden.

She considered ignoring it but eventually answered.

Caden's voice, seething with anger, burst through. "Nadine, you bitch! How dare you cheat on me!"

He had seen the photos in the headline news on his phone. While others might not recognize her, he did instantly.

The thought of being ridiculed by acquaintances for his wife's betrayal gnawed at him.

Nadine, not wanting to escalate the situation, replied calmly, "Caden, it's not what you think. We'll talk when I return."

Hearing her nonchalant tone, Caden burst in a fit of rage.

Did she think that it would make any difference whether or not she explained? She cheated on him!

Caden, provoked by her seemingly indifferent response, shouted, "You expect me to wait? Come back now!"

Nadine, observing Tricia tending to Domenic, quietly left the room, speaking softly outside. "I'm at the hospital. I'll return later."

Caden, infuriated by her being at the hospital, accused, "What are you doing there? Getting an abortion? Was this not your first time cheating on me? Did you get pregnant too?"

His words jolted her. She had forgotten the contraceptive pill.

"Caden, it's complicated. We'll talk tonight," she said. Ignoring his continued rant, she ended the call and approached the registration desk to buy the contraceptive pill.

"Calm down, my dear," Milly soothed, her voice gentle as she lay close to Caden, unabashed in her intimacy.

She continued softly, "Your marriage to her is merely for the Wheeler family's support, nothing more. With the project between the Gordons and Wheelers wrapping up, why stress over her actions?"

Milly's touch ignited a flicker of desire in Caden, his grip on her shoulder tightening as they had another round of passionate sex.

"I get it," Caden said, his voice a mix of frustration and realization. "Nadine always acted so innocent, but now... she's a whore! How could she cheat on me? I'm still her husband!"

Caden, despite his disdain for Nadine, felt she owed him fidelity. It was more than just a betrayal. It was an insult to him.

Caden experienced a twinge of guilt for being with Milly last night, especially considering his relationship with Nadine. Yet, now, all that remained was hatred.

Milly, sensing his bruised ego, suggested pragmatically, "Caden, your anger won't change things. Instead, consider Warren of the Galaxy Group. Securing his group's first domestic project could solidify your position in the family."

This perspective calmed Caden, but he remained unsettled. "I want that project, but how can I get it?"

Milly, shifting to sit on top of him, cupped his face. "I have a plan that could put you ahead of your brother, earning you the family's respect."

Intrigued, Caden leaned in. "What is it?"

Milly whispered her plan into his ear, leaving Caden momentarily speechless.

The prospect of outshining his brother stirred a passionate response, leading him to embrace Milly fervently. "You're brilliant, Milly. Absolutely brilliant."
