Chapter 3 Forgive me

"How can it stop if you keep working on me, you idiot? You crazy guy! If you really don't want me to get tired, stop chasing me!" Valerie shouted, speeding up her footsteps.

As soon as she saw a path to the right, Valerie headed straight for it. It didn't matter where this path took her, she just had to get as far away as possible.

"I'm chasing you because you ran. If you had just stayed still, I wouldn't have chased you all the way here either. I just called out to you, but why did you run away?" The man continued to run without getting tired. His black mask was still on, covering half of his handsome face.

Valerie did not answer. She just inwardly cursed the man behind her.

How could Valerie not run away if that man called her his wife? She had just met him and he had the nerve to call her something as intimate as that. If not to kidnap or kill her, what else? Although sometimes stupid, Valerie knew that people like this usually did something intimate and heartfelt before carrying out their mission.

However, sorry-sorry, Valerie was completely untouched and would not be fooled by such tricks!

"Stop chasing me, damn it!" exclaimed Valerie as she looked back to find the man still chasing her.

"I'll stop if you stop too. Let's get acquainted so we can have a good relationship," the man said.

Valerie didn't listen at all. She ran into the small alley on the left suddenly. The man was not expecting it at all and almost kept going. Because of this, the distance between the two of them became even farther. However, it didn't take long to get close again. The power of running coupled with the long legs helped the man a lot.

"My name is Dariel!" the man shouted suddenly.

"I didn't ask!" Valerie shouted back angrily. "You can save your name for the psychologist who will treat you later!"

After saying that, Valerie dashed out of the alley and jumped onto the big road. Luckily, the traffic light was red so Valerie could easily dodge and hide from car to car.

"Wife, I'll find you soon!"

Valerie wasn't sure where the man was, but she felt goosebumps when she heard his voice. There were so many people here and the man was shouting like that so casually. Valerie wondered if he was an ex-patient of a mental hospital or maybe still a patient, just on the run. That's bad!

Relying on the cars that were still in place to cover her, Valerie ducked her head and walked quickly forward then jumped onto the sidewalk.

"If I had known this, I would have listened to Mommy earlier," Valerie grumbled as she slung her sling bag. No one could guess what would happen after this. Valerie was just on guard, afraid that the crazy man would show up again. "And if I'd known there would be a madman chasing after such a brute, I wouldn't have been curious about those voices. Let it go, I'll pretend to be deaf."

"Hah, regrets always come at the end," Valerie muttered with a tired sigh and looked down languidly as her feet stopped walking.

Then, Valerie looked up and gazed at her surroundings. "Where is this? Haish, what a bad day."

The heart intended to have fun, but instead, she had a bad experience. Valerie didn't even want to remember it let alone repeat it. This was the first time Valerie hated being chased by people. Since a long time ago, she liked handsome men the most, especially those with a tall bodies like this man. Valerie would be happy when they chased her and competed with each other. But not with this! Valerie hated it. It was horrible being brutally chased by people and going this far like a zombie.

Zombies? Valerie instantly remembered the movie she had watched. Her hair stood on end. Was it possible that the man was a zombie who wanted to eat her? Hiiihh, Valerie shook her head quickly and rubbed her body.

As soon as she got home safely, Valerie immediately vowed never to go out for fun again!

Valerie was going to change! She wouldn't be like before!

She didn't even want to get acquainted with handsome men anymore! If possible, Valerie didn't want to meet anyone male other than her family!

"Vale? What's wrong with you? Why are you like this, Dear? Were you robbed or something?" Haven who had just come out of the house was surprised by Valerie's messy appearance. He walked quickly to Valerie and led her to a chair on the terrace. "Vale, tell daddy! Tell Daddy everything so Daddy can teach that guy a lesson!"

Valerie glared. Teach that man a lesson? No! No! Don't! Just forget about that guy!

Valerie stared at Haven's face then threw herself on the floor and hugged Haven's legs tightly. Her face pressed against Haven's thigh looked like she wanted to cry.

Haven was surprised by Valerie's behavior. He quickly bent down and tried to pull Valerie back up. "Vale, there's no need for this. Get up, kiddo! You just need to tell me everything that happened. Come on, get up! The floor is cold!"

But Valerie didn't move at all. Instead, she tightened her embrace around Haven's legs.

"Daddy, I'm sorry for all my mistakes," Valerie said and then looked up, looking at Haven who looked down at her. "Do you want to forgive me?"

"Vale-" Haven's voice suddenly choked. He pulled Valerie's arm to stand up and looked at her sadly. "Never mind, why apologize? You did nothing wrong. It's all because Daddy and Mommy were incompetent. Now, go to your room. Rest well so you don't get sick."

In Haven's mind, Valerie was apologizing for doing something big. This kind of thing was common. Every time she went home, if she got into trouble out there, Valerie would apologize. Haven and Agnes didn't understand at first. They were touched. But then, their house was invaded by several people who either held Valerie accountable or cursed her. Since then, Haven and Agnes had understood what Valerie's apology meant.

As if she knew Haven's thoughts, Valerie quickly shook her head and said, "Dad, I'm really sorry. I've done so much wrong. Always troubling you and Mommy. I promise, after this, I will not do silly things anymore. I will be an obedient child."

"What are you talking about? Daddy and Mommy don't feel troubled at all. You are our best child. Never disobedient. Never mind, let's go inside! You need to clean up and rest," Haven said, leading Valerie into the house.

Valerie was speechless.

Her daddy wouldn't believe her if she said she would turn into an obedient child.

Indeed, who would believe that a troublemaker who gave people a headache every day with her behavior said she was going to change?

No one! Valerie understood that her behavior yesterday could not be helped. However, seeing Haven who was still calm and even worried after seeing her chaotic appearance touched Valerie. Her daddy was very kind. With such a close distance, Valerie could see the fine wrinkles on his handsome face. Ah, it must be because her Daddy was thinking too much about her.

"Vale, what's wrong with you?" Agnes, who had just come out of the kitchen, stumbled over to Valerie. Both of her hands immediately landed on the child's beautiful face and looked at her worriedly. "Did someone bully you? What man would dare treat you like this? Tell Mommy, let Mommy beat him up. Wait, are you hurt? Let mommy see!"

"Mom, Mom, calm down, I'm okay. I'm fine," Valerie grabbed Agnes' hand and tried to calm her down.

"Fine? But-" Agnes' gaze fell on Valerie's bare feet. It looked dirty and had a bit of blood on it.

Valerie and Haven followed the direction of Agnes' gaze. Then Valerie said as she let go of Agnes' hand. "I'm fine, Mom. I'm going to the room to clean myself up."

"Oh yeah, Dad, don't forget to close the gate. Just lock it," Valerie continued as she looked at Haven and then walked away to her room.

Haven and Agnes watched Valerie leave and then looked at each other.
