Chapter 6 6

Raymond Locason

"To the latest groom in town, cheers to that!" Leon said the moment we all answered Michael's call. I have no idea why he made a conference call but I believe it's about something important.

"Cheers to that" Daniel said teasingly before I could curse Leon and they all laughed at me.

"It's not funny guys" I hissed, rolling my eyes even though they couldn't see me. "Why did you call?" I added, referring to Michael.

"To congratulate you" He answered, teasingly again.

"How is your bride doing?" Steve asked.

"She's not my wife! Just, stop it guys" I hissed again.

"Mr Smith called. He approved of the FARM CITY building contract and this is all because of your pretty wife. The moment he heard that you got married today, he called to approve of the contract" Michael announced.

"Can y'all just stop referring to her as my wife? She's nothing but my father's killer's daughter and there's no way I'm going to accept her as my wife!"

"But, she's already your wife and you have no choice in this Raymond. Without her in your life, you won't be getting your late father's empire. We all know the effort you put into obtaining it but you were deprived of it. Just look at the deal we are about to seal in a week coming, Mr Smith clearly stated the reason he's handling the contract over to us was because of your marriage with Kyla. He believes you're now responsible and not the playboy he used to hear about on the news" James said and a sigh escaped my lip.

"I know" I answered nodding my head to what he just said. I know he's right but that still doesn't change anything. I still hate that woman and there's no way I'm going to accept her as my wife.

I can't believe my dad decided to do this to me. I worked so hard these past few years to take over his empire and now, before I could do that, I have to marry his killer's daughter.

Isn't that absurd?!

"I hate that girl so much! I fucking hate her!" I hissed out in anger.

"Come to think of it, what if, her Dad isn't the culprit but was framed?"

"Your point exactly on this, Leon? I thought you were on my side?"

"Of course man, I'm always on your side and I'm just saying. If her Dad was to be a bad person, your Dad wouldn't have left a will of you marrying the daughter before you can take over his empire " he said and before I could reply to him, I heard a knock on my door.

"I need to go now, guys. Talk to y'all later" I said and quickly hung up the call before they switched on teasing me again.

Kyla Jackson

After changing into something comfortable, I slowly walk out of the room to see if I can get something to eat. It's getting late and my stomach won't stop grumbling.

Stepping out of my room and looking around the whole big mansion confusedly, I now realized that I made a big mistake not asking the maid who had come to me earlier anything. Thinking of some other alternative, my eyes landed on an old lady, looking in her late 50s with fruits in her hands.

I thought I should follow her and I did. She walked into the kitchen whilst I stood outside the kitchen watching her.

I was clueless. Raymond and I walked past this door earlier and I couldn't even notice that it was the kitchen.

"Hello" I said to her with a small smile on my face as I walked into the kitchen. She turned to look at me and I almost stumble.

Oh my goodness! Why does her face look so scary- I thought worriedly, placing my hand over my chest.

"Hello" I said again, waving my right hand at her with a wide smile spread on my face. I think I look like a fool right now.

"I'm Kyla Jack... I mean, Locason. Yes, Locason" I introduced myself yet she still didn't reply me. The expression on her face remains the same.

"She can't hear you ma'am" a voice suddenly said behind me, making me jolt in fear.

It's the same girl that brought my luggage earlier.

"Is there anything you would want me to do for you?" She asked.

"Erm, yes. I'm kinda hungry. Can I please get something to eat? Even if it's just a little?" I begged.

"Sure ma'am"

She moved closer to the old lady, said something to her ear and I saw her nodding her head whilst smiling.

Okay. Isn't this strange? I thought she don't hear what people say.- I thought staring at the two weirdly.

"This is so good!" I said, munching on my food and nodding my head in appraisal.

Gosh! This woman is perfect in making the best meal. She made pasta with chicken wings and I can't put the food down. I keep munching on it like there's no tomorrow.

"I'm glad you like it Mrs Locason" She said and I instantly choked on my food. I started coughing profusely and she helped fill the glass cup with water. She passes it to me and at the same time, caresses my back to calm me down.

"Wait, you can speak?" I asked, widening my eyes.

She chuckles and nods her head. "Yes ma'am, I can. I just had to pull that stunt to see how patient you can be and, you actually prove me wrong. You are so nice compared to the other girl Mr Locason used to bring here" She said.

"He has a girl he always brings to this house?"

"Yes. Didn't he tell you about it? I thought you both were in love and shared everything with each other?" She asked and I choked on my food again.

I had forgotten that this woman and the world didn't know the real reason behind our marriage except for his family and I.

"Are you sure you're okay ma'am?" She asked worriedly again after I dropped the cup on the table.

"Erm, ye... Yes. I'm... I'm fine. I... I think I'm full, I will just go inside and rest. Thank you for the food Mrs..." I trailed off, waiting for her to tell me her name.

"Capella. But everyone here calls me Nanny Capella" She said, smiling.

Capella?!! Of all names, why that name?- I mentally hissed and sauntered back to my room.
