I signed again after glancing at my phone screen again. The time keeps moving fast, I thought.
An idea instantly popped into my head as I glanced at the alley, which was the shortest way to my apartment.
"It's worth it; besides, only one person was murdered there." I whispered to myself, trying to sum up all the courage I had in me.
I entered the alley, my feet walking as fast as they could. To get me out of there as quickly as possible, I kept my head low.
The number one golden rule in the hell of this place 'is:'You can only deny what you did not see.' I learned my lesson the hard way, and I wasn't willing to let myself fall into another trap.
I was almost out of the alley when the sound of a gunshot erupting through the air made me freeze on my steps.
No, it wasn't the sound alone, but also the style in which the shot sounded. I only knew one person who loved to shoot three times in just a heartbeat.
My hands became shakey as I prayed silently, hoping it was just my imagination, but my head told me otherwise-not to fool my head.
I quicken my pace, hoping to get out of here as fast as I can. I couldn't help but wonder what the devil was going on here.
"Why here of all places?" I whispered, shaking.
I came out of the alley and made my way into my apartment quickly, wanting nothing more than to hold my son in my hands right now.
Reaching my apartment door, I quickly pushed my key into the key hole, hasteningly making my way into my apartment, slamming the door shut, leaning against it, and trying to calm my racing heart.
I took a deep breath, calming myself down, before looking around my apartment, noticing the light was off, making the room dark.
I wonder if Nancy had put Kelvin to bed and left already. I use my hands to feel the wall for the light switch.
Immediately, I flicked the lights on. I froze at the sight of what was in front of me, unconscious tears immediately streaming down my cheeks as my heart raced fast.
I shook my head furiously, my sworn-out handbag dropping to the floor.
My mind kept screaming, not wanting to believe he was actually here.
"It can't be." I whispered.
"What can't be sweetheart?" He asked with his famous smirk plastered on his lips.
The demon was really here. I was right; I wasn't imagining things. The gun shot from earlier must have been his way of letting me know he was back in his life.
"What, Cara? Don't tell me you really think I was going to let you go, Mia."He asked, ceasing the head of the boy he placed on his lap softly.
"Let go of my son." I yelled, rushing towards him, but got blocked as some of his men stepped forward, creating a barrier between us.
"Let go, Kelvin; this has nothing to do with him." I yelled at him again.
He waved his free hand, giving his guard a signal to step back.
"Okay," he shrugged nonchalantly, as if we were causally talking, then placed Kelvin softly on the chair.
I stood there looking at him, making me wonder what was going on in that devilish mind of his.
He suddenly chuckled bitterly before facing me, his beautiful gray eyes turning black with a dark look on his face.
"And you call me a devil, Cara, when the real devil is you." He snapped, pointing at me.
I whined, shifting uncomfortably in my spot.
"What? What did I do?" I asked, my voice shaking.
"What did you do?" He asked, looking at me, his voice sounding darker than I had ever heard before.
"What did you do, Cara?" He yelled, marching towards me and grabbing my neck.
"No please." I quickly yelled, circling my palm around his wrist.
"How dare you keep my son away from me, Cara?" He yelled.
"How dare you? For six good years. How dare you, Cara?" His pupil is now dark, making me scared as I shake my head, trying to plead for mercy.
"Nathaniel please." I begged, trying to catch my breath, as his grip on my neck tightened.
He let go of my neck, dropping my body to the floor as I gasped desperately for air.
He adjusted his coat on his body, giving me one last look before putting on his glasses.
"See you later, Cara." He said he was waving his hands. His men followed him as he made his way out of my apartment.
I quickly got to my feet and went to check up on my son. I hugged him to my chest, whispering soft nothings to myself, not wanting to disturb his sleep but yearning for the comfort his hug gives me.
After calling down a bit, I picked him up and made my way into the bedroom. My mind was clouded with several ways to keep him safe.
I gently laid him on the bed, kissing his pp, before getting up to take off my coat.
A note on the window caught my attention, and I carefully walked towards it, ripping it from the glass window.
' If I were if I had sleep tight, don't except Bryan tonight. His journey ended today, while yours just started. Prepare yourself, Cara.'
My hands shake, making the note slip out of them as I slum to the floor, weeping.
"It can't be; just when I thought I was finally getting my life back on track, he decides to appear again."
Nathaniel Harrison was back in my life.
