Chapter 2 Restless Without You

" Mum, she doesn't even know us from Adams " Arya said with a great surprise on her face.

" It takes just a day to know someone. After all, I've seen her and I like her, she is even your friend. Don't you think we are save with her? " Mrs Yolanda asked Arya.

" Mum!!!.. "

" Shut up "

" My dear, are you working somewhere for now? You can resign and I will triple your payment " Mrs Yolanda said as she held Gwen's palm.

Arya was shocked, her mum has never been this vulnerable. She always claims to be a no-nonsense woman. What's with her today? .

" Ma'am, I just resigned from my job and for now I don't have anything to do, " Gwen explained with her head down. Mrs Yolanda could tell that she is embarrassed.

" I understand and this is your opportunity my dear. Gwen, I think my family is safe with you " Arya felt like crying when her mum began to talk with Gwen.

" How old is your son ma'am? " Gwen asked her. While scratching her head.

" He is no longer a child but he is my child, he won't disturb you because he is a workaholic " Mrs Yolanda said with a smile on her face.

" I will think about it ma'am and I will give you a call " Gwen said as she collected Mrs Yolanda's contact.

" Gwen, let's hang out tomorrow with David " Arya said and she grabbed Gwen's hands because she didn't want a 'no' for an answer.

" Sure, I will also come with a friend of mine. Text David the address and he will tell me " Gwen said happily. Mrs Yolanda suddenly felt like she had two daughters.

" Bills on me " Mrs Yolanda said with a grin as she walked to her car.

" Thank you ma'am " Gwen screamed happily as she watched Arya leave with her mother.

" Hmm!!! They are so kind " Gwen smiled as she walked into the mall and paid for the shoe before leaving.

Gwen got home happily as she opened the door, she caught a glimpse of Kathryn and her mum. She hopes towards them like a baby who is about to suck his mother's breast milk.

" Mum and Kathy, are you good? What are you preparing? Are you gossiping about me? " Gwen asked sheepishly as she gave them a hug.

" Why are you so happy? Kathryn asked Gwen, looking so curious.

" Anyways, I'm just happy that I could help a friend today. My effort counts " Gwen replied as she took a fresh vegetable and started eating it.

" What is the help about? " Gwen's mum asked her

" Nevermind " She said and walked to the couch. She decided to tell her mum and Kathryn about the job offer.

" Mum, Kathy, what do you think about this? "

" Think about what? " Gwen's mum was the first to ask, second by Kathryn.

" I got a job offer from a lady who I helped and secured her purse at the mall. She is very wealthy and promised to pay him hugely " Gwen replied looking at both of them.

" It's just for the main time and I will stop when I get another decent job, '' Gwen said, biting her lips.

" What's the nature of the job? " Kathryn asked impatiently.

" It's something I can do, but I haven't given her an answer yet because I don't want to look desperate, " Gwen said, trying to avoid Kathryn's question.

" What's the nature of the job? Why are you beating around the bush? " Mrs Laura said to her daughter.

" Mum, you would like it. The job is not stressful like my modeling job " Gwen said as she began to scratch her hair.

" It's a live-in housekeeper. I know her daughter, she is my good friends " Gwen said. She didn't tell them that she would be living with a man because she could tell that I mum won't accept it.

" You want to be a househelp? That's so low of you Gwen " Kathryn said angrily.

" I've made up my mind Kathy. I'm just informing both of you, I'm tired of being jobless and am fucking broke. I need this job, I'm sorry " Gwen replied apologetically.

" Gwenevere, are you sure about this? " Gwen's mum asked her with a face filled with concern.

" Yes mummy. She will pay me triple of my previous salary, we will never go broke again mum " Gwen said.

" If it's fine by you, I'm okay with it " Mrs Laura said to Gwen with a smile on her face.

" If it gets hard, I will always come to help you out. Whatever your decision is, I will stand by you " Kathryn said to Gwen as she rushed to the couch and hugged her.

" Thank you, I will send my reply to her tonight, '' Gwen said happily. She couldn't believe that she would be starting another new job. Unknown to her whom she was going to serve.

" Kathy, we will be hanging out tomorrow with David and Arya, " Gwen said happily.

" Wow, who is Arya? " Kathy asked with pouty lips.

" You will see her tomorrow, don't be in a hurry " Gwen replied and rushed to her room to freshen up. It has been a long day for her but it's among her happiest days.

When it was late at night Gwen brought her phone and texted Mrs Yolanda.

" Ma'am, I'm ready for the job. When can I resume? " Gwen was surprised when she got her reply immediately.

" Have fun tomorrow and resume the day after tomorrow. Arya will come over to pick you " Mrs Yolanda dropped the text with a smiling face.

" Thank you ma'am " Gwen replied and dozed off immediately.

Ricardo stood with a cold gaze as all his workers brought their heads low. They knew what was about to happen, he hadn't said anything since days ago after they got drunk.

He strolled around them with both hands at his back. He kept walking like a restless child in search of his mother. His silence almost made them run mad.

" I want to hear the details on how you all left the office three days ago " Ricardo said but none of them could say anything.

" How did you end up wasting yourselves? Who did Gwen call? I need that number which she used in calling you guys " Ricardo said sarcastically.

He was smiling deep down his heart but he was just forming anger. Ricardo tried so hard not to laugh as he stood like an officer.

" Sir, she called and I have the number here with me " Gina said.

" Show me the number now, in fact here is my phone. Send it to my phone " Ricardo handed his phone to Gina and she collected it with trembling hands.

" Sir, we voted for you yesterday, " Elena said with a grin.

" Shut up " Ricardo said calmly and collected his phone from Gina.

" Sir, we don't .... " Alex tried to defend himself

" I said shut up " Ricardo said " How could you get such an information and didn't find it fit to tell me? Who is the boss here? " Ricardo asked no one in particular.

" You are the boss " They all chorused and Ricardo smiled. They all became confused, why is he laughing?

Ricardo has gotten the contact he needed, he turned his back and left them standing there.

" You can all go back to work " Scott said as he dismissed them all. His phone began to ring immediately

" Hello, " Scott said loudly.

" Mr King on the line. I've been calling your boss but it seems he is far from his phone " King's voice rang out.

" Good Day sir, any information about the contact? " Scott asked him respectfully.

" Yes, it's not something pleasant to the ear either " King said as he took a deep breath.

" What do you think? " Scott asked as he used the elevator.

" I will visit your office tomorrow, it's not all about the worker but it's also about the person who gave her the dirty job " King said with all seriousness.

" I will hand the phone over to my boss, I just entered his office " Scott said as he gave the phone to Ricardo. Ricardo collected the phone but didn't say anything, he was waiting for the other party to say something first.

" Ricardo, I've gotten all the information you need about Tiana but I have more information that will trigger you to know your enemy " King said to Ricardo.

" So? " Ricardo asked him.

" it's not something to discuss on phone because it might result in you or Scott traveling outside Switzerland " King informed and Ricardo was shocked.

" What?!!! Is it that serious? " Ricardo asked him.

" its more deeper than you thing. I will hang up now " King disconnected the call and Ricardo stared at Scott.

" He said we might travel outside Switzerland to sort out the issue, get ready " Ricardo said as he picked up his phone .

" I want to dial this number, it might be Gwen's new line " Ricardo said to Scott with a sweet smile on his face.

Scott gave him the expression of ' I hope you don't run mad because of this '

Ricardo dialed the number and heard a male's voice.

" Who the hell are you? " Ricardo screamed out, frustrated.
