"Your highness, you must refer to him as Alpha Aiden. It is important that you accord him the appropriate respect especially in public" The lady offered
Laurel studied her "What's your name?"
"Cassie, your highness"
"A very modern name" Laurel muttered, eyeing her in suspicion "I'm looking for .....Alpha Aiden," She exhaled "Have you seen him around?"
"I believe he is with the council. The last of the ceremony is performed without much crowd"
"That crowd includes me"
"You could join them but I can see you detest the very presence of the Alpha" Cassie replied
"Would you love the sight of a man who imprisoned you for days in extreme cold?" Laurel asked
"Five days. It's a long time I must say. Judging by your abilities, it must have been difficult, ypur highness" Cassie offered in sympathy
"You said you will answer all of my questions"
Cassie nodded in assurance.
"What is he?"
"A half human,half wolf"
Laurel chuckled "You're insane"
"It's the truth. This place is home to werewolves and seers"
"Seers?"
"People who see visions. There are several packs and each is differentiated by their borders. Ours is over there" Cassie gestured at the very end of the land to the peck of a tall mountain.
"What happens if I cross over to another pack?" Laurel asked
"You could get killed,Luna or not, your highness," Cassie said vehemently.
Laurel swallowed, her eyes shut as though absorbing the new information.
"Luna?"
"What does it mean to be his mate? Why did he pick me?"
Cassie sighed "He didn't pick you Luna, he is bonded to you against his wish. It's like finding a soul mate, a connection to this one person and your inner wolf directs you to where your mate is located, no matter how far away..."
Laurel looked confused, nothing Cassie said made sense.
"Inner wolf?"
Laurel feel like she was in another world and nothing could be compared to the normalcy she was used to...
"The Alpha is approaching" cassie offered in a fearful tone, bowing her head as the ruthless man and his Beta approached them both .
"You've met your Beta" Aiden said, slipping his arms around her waist.
Their assistants excused themselves without a word.
"Where are my parents?" Laurel glared at him.
"Keep those eyes levelled this instant" he growled
Laurel reluctantly eased her gaze, trying to steady her breath.
"They are over there"
Laurel followed his gaze, excited to see her parents after so long.
Aiden held her in place, his grip tight around her wrist.
"You're hurting me" Laurel winced
"You're not leaving. If you move those men will rip them apart"
Aiden gestured at the two hefty men standing by her parents who stared at her longingly.
Laurel met his gaze , her eyes wondering why he would be so cruel!
"I'll make myself clear, if you try to run away, I'll get to your parents faster than you think and you don't want to know where that ends. You're my mate, you stay with me for the rest of your life, do you understand me?" Aiden asked
Laurel glanced at her parents, her eyes roaming over to her mother.
Wanda shook her head, telling her daughter to stop trying to run away from him.
Laurel could hardly believe her fate, she had to stay with this lunatic for the rest of her life!
What happened to her dreams of going to Kentbark? What will happen in this strange world where they claim to be werewolves?
Is she going to lose her mind and think she was a wolf as well?
Whatever the case, she had to be careful or she would lose her parents.
"I understand"
"That's a good pet," Aiden said.
The ceremony continued and Aiden kept her by his side all through the night. All she could do was exchange brief glances with her parents.
"Alpha, we should leave for the city if we must arrive before midnight"
Laurel looked confused, the city?
"A second, let Luna bid her parents farewell uhm?"
Aiden glanced down at her, releasing his firm hold on her.
"Five minutes" he warned
Laurel walk towards her mother, wrapping her arms around her tightly as tears rolled down her chin.
"Mum, I'm scared" she sobs.
"Wipe your tears. You can't be seen crying Laurel, you're the Luna now" Wanda warned while holding back her own tears.
"Dad" Laurel sobs as she releases her mother.
Her father held her hand firmly, a proud smile on his face.
"I know you're scared. You'll be fine. You belong here Laurel and we...we're sorry for keeping you away from where you came from. We thought you would love to live a regular life and we're sorry for that" her father said
"Mum, they said they are werewolves..."
Wanda shook her head "We...are werewolves. That's who we are" Wanda informs.
Laurel glanced at her mother and father in shock. Their eyes glowed a faint gold, frightening Laurel as she jerked back.
"No..." she whispered
"Please, stay with the Alpha. He might be cruel but he's the only one who can protect you "
Laurel looked confused, what are they talking about?
"Protect me from what?" Laurel asked
Wanda shook her head, refusing to say anything.
"Be happy my Luna" Wanda bowed her head. Her father did the same.
"I suppose the family reunion is over? We have a trip to make tonight" Aiden said, standing behind Laurel.
"Say goodbye to Mummy and Daddy." Aiden pulled Laurel away, heading towards his black jeep.
Another car was behind the jeep.
Cassie and Richards were settled in the front seats, ready to drive.
"Where are we going?" Laurel asked
"My house"
