Chapter 4 The real best friend

Jae-kyung quickly bent over to her side and sighed heavily.

"Gøsh! Why is she like this??" She muttered to herself before bringing out a bottled water from her bag. She purposely brought it along with her because she knew that Funke will faint over and over again.

She felt a presence beside her and she looked up to see Arizona standing right there.

Their eyes met and she smiled cutely before looking back at the drama queen that doesn't seem tired of fainting.

"Is she okay??" Arizona asked as he also bent down beside Jae-kyung.

"Yes. Don't worry, she'll get up now." Jae-kyung replied as she made to sprinkle the water on Funke.

Her mind suddenly drifted off to what happened yesterday, how Funke fainted twice because of Davis.

'She'll faint again if she wakes up to see him here.' Jae-kyung thought, and heaved a sigh before looking at Arizona.

"Ariz, you should go back to your seat. Thanks for your concern, she'll be fine." She said and Arizona looked at her.

"Why?? You don't want me here??" He asked, and Jae-kyung shook her head.

"That's not it. I just don't want you to stress yourself because of her. I'll take care of her, don't worry." She replied.

Arizona nodded before standing up. He simply walked back to his seat.

Jae-kyung sprinkled the water on Funke's face and within seconds, she opened her eyes.

"Did I fainted again??" She asked as Jae-kyung helped her up.

"No, you literally went to Heaven to have a word with God." Jae-kyung rolled her eyes and headed to her seat.

Funke chuckled before going after her. They both took a seat together.

"So... that's the Indian guy you talked about, I guess??" Funke asked, and Jae-kyung nodded.

"He's looking so breathtaking!" Funke muttered as she kept her gaze on Arizona, who was sitting at the front roll.

"Hey! Don't tell me you'll keep on fainting each time you see a handsome guy??" Jae-kyung asked, and Funke looked at her.

"I fear you might really faint and not wake up again, because you'll keep fainting every two minutes." Jae-kyung added and Funke smiled.

"I was only putting on an act earlier. I didn't really faint. I heard your conversation with Arizona." She replied, and Jae-kyung looked at her in surprise.

"You must be kidding. Tell me it's a joke." Jae-kyung said and Funke laughed.

"I'm not joking. When I'm not mad. Why will I keep fainting??" She said, and Jae-kyung's mouth flew open.

"Even yesterday at the cafe, I fainted only once, the second one was a pretense." Funke added, and Jae-kyung furrowed her brows.

She raised her hand and it landed on Funke's shoulder.

"Ouch! That hurts!" Funke groaned as she caressed her shoulder.

"That's the punishment for deceiving me. How could you do that?? Do you know how worried I was?!" Jae-kyung yelled, gaining attention from their course mates.

Student 1 : Who's that girl?? She look strange with the space in her teeth.

Student 2 : She's looking so... eww!

Student 3 : How did Jae-kyung got to know her?? Where did get her from??

Student 4 : I bet Ju-kyung doesn't know about their friendship yet.

And all the bad comments continued...

Funke heard everything clearly, and she simply faced down as she played with her fingers.

Jae-kyung felt bad for her and she shifted closer to her.

"Don't mind them. Just act like you didn't hear anything okay?? I'm here for you always, so you don't need them. Just focus on graduating with good grades with me by your side, okay??" Jae-kyung said soothingly with her hand on Funke's shoulder.

Funke heaved a heavy sigh as she nodded her head. She then raised her head and looked at Jae-kyung with a smile.

"I love you." She muttered and Jae-kyung chuckled before pulling her into a friendly hug.

"I love you more remember." Jae-kyung muttered on her shoulder and they broke the hug.

"Hello everyone, it's me again as usual, your sweet HOC Jin Soo-oh. Hope y'all had a peaceful night rest??" Soo-oh asked as he stood in front of the students.

The usual murmurs came up again.

Student 1 : Oh my... he's the sweetest guy ever

Student 2 : Please just date me for a week... only a week and I won't ask for more.

Student 3 : Soo-oh I love you!

Student 4 : It's his cute doll face for me

Jae-kyung scoffed and rolled her eyes as the comments continued.

"Silence please!" Soo-oh ordered and like that, the lecture room went silent.

"Good. Now I'm here to introduce a new student who's joining us today... come forward please." Soo-oh said as he kept his gaze on Funke.

"What are you doing?? C'mon go. He's referring to you." Jae-kyung said and Funke blinked her eyes countless times.

"Oh me??" She asked, and Jae-kyung sneered.

"No, your conscience." Jae-kyung said sarcastically and Funke pouted.

"Come on go." Jae-kyung added as she pushed Funke out.

Being a shy girl, Funke couldn't raised her head to look at anyone. She kept her gaze on the floor as she walked to the front.

"Introduce yourself." Soo-oh said, and Funke looked at him.

"Huh?"

"Do you have a problem with your eardrum??" Soo-oh asked, and Funke looked away from him as she bit her lower lip.

"Good morning everyone, my name is Olufun-" She suddenly paused as she remembered how Jae-kyung and Jun-hee were not able to pronounce her name.

"My name is Violet Thomas, and I'm glad to join you guys." She concluded and quickly walked back to her seat before the criticizing comments begin.

Student 1 : Violet?? The name is beautiful... but it doesn't suit her because she's not pretty.

Student 2 : That space in between her teeth is making her look so scary to me... Eww!

Student 3 : I know right... she's one strange girl.

Jae-kyung couldn't take it anymore so she banged the table and stood up, gaining their attention.

"Will you all just shut up and stop criticizing the poor girl?! What has she ever done to you all to deserve this ill-treatment?? I can remember how y'all accepted Arizona and Davis with smiles and nice words, but to her, you're doing the worst thing I could ever imagine! Why?! Is it because she's from Nigeria?! Or is it because she's a girl and you're jealous of her pretty face??!" Jae-kyung yelled in anger as she stare daggers at all the girls.

Her main target is the girls.

Student 1 : What?! Jealous of her pretty face??

Student 2 : What pretty face?? The face that looks like something that I can't even imagine.

Student 3 : Did she just call that creepy face... pretty?? Eish!

Jae-kyung smiled and started walking towards the three girls that talked.

She got to the first one and stood in front of her. She leaned closer to her face with a smirk playing on her lips.

"It's clearly shown on your face that you're really jealous of her pretty face. And for your information, she's much more prettier than you. Take it or leave it." She said and rolled her eyes before walking to the second one.

She also leaned closer to her with a smirk on her lips.

"You said her face looks like something that you can't even imagine. Well you're right, because you can never imagine what a pretty face looks like. Not like you're more attractive than her. And you know what?? Her gap-teeth is the most attractive part of her, so go to hęll." She clicked her teeth before walking to the third one.

"Her supposed creepy face is a lot more beautiful than your crappy face, so go and die!" She fired, and without sparing her any time to talk back, she headed back to her seat.

Davis stepped into the lecture room at that moment, while clapping his hands.

"That was... wonderful!" He said and raised a thumb up for Jae-kyung.

"Wonderful is an understatement... it was fire!" Daryl, one of Davis's friend added while coming into the room also.

"You're the best Jae!" Darren also added as he came in after Daryl.

They're the Triple D: Davis, Daryl and Darren. The best of friends in the whole of Sevit University.

Jae-kyung smiled as she sat down beside Funke who was looking at her in surprise.

"What?" Jae-kyung asked as she noticed her intense gaze on her.

Funke pouted and pulled her into a tight hug.

"I love you Jae-kyung! I love you so much!" She said and Jae-kyung almost choked.

She started coughing as she hit Funke's back slightly.

"I'm--- choking--- Vee!" She managed to say and Funke immediately let go of her.

Jae-kyung held her neck as she continued coughing.

"I'm sorry. I'm just so happy to have a great friend like you." Funke said, and Jae-kyung grinned.

"It's okay. I was actually joking... you did yours yesterday and this morning, so it's payback time." She said, and Funke squeezed her face.

"Don't tell me you were putting on an act??" Funke asked, and Jae-kyung shrugged with a grin.

"Well, what else?? I got my revenge for deceiving me twice." She replied, and Funke looked away from her, feigning annoyance.

"Are you angry??" Jae-kyung asked.

"I don't wanna talk to you." Funke replied while pouting like a baby.

"Awwn I'm sorry. You know I can't do without talking to you." Jae-kyung said but Funke pretended not to hear.

"Vee." Jae-kyung called again and when Funke didn't look her way, she moved closer to her and hugged her.

"I'm sorry Vee. I won't do that again." She said over Funke's shoulder.

Funke smiled and broke the hug.

"I was never angry. Just want to be the last one to get revenge. You got yours and I got mine. It's a fair revenge. 50/50 no cheating." She said and they both bursted out laughing.
