Chapter 3 I am Pregnant!

We ran for two days straight, our bodies driven by sheer determination and adrenaline.

With each passing mile, our fatigue grew, and our hunger gnawed at us relentlessly. Despite the physical and mental challenges, we remained resolute, pushing ourselves forward with a strength that surpassed our weakened states.

By the time we paused to catch our breath, the toll of our journey was evident on both Olivia and me.

Olivia, having changed into a fresh outfit, stood beside me, her once vibrant green eyes now dulled by exhaustion, surrounded by dark circles that bore witness to sleepless nights.

Her fiery red hair was hastily tied up in a high ponytail, the strands slightly disheveled from the relentless wind. Her hands, tucked into the front pockets of her worn jeans, clenched slightly, a subtle reflection of the determination that fueled her every step.

Comparing myself to Olivia, I couldn't help but feel a pang of self-consciousness. My reflection in her eyes revealed a different story. Puffy and tired, my eyes struggled to stay open, while my nose, reddened by the harsh elementsaddinged a touch of discomfort to my already worn appearance.

My normally fair skin, lacking its usual healthy glow, seemed even paler against the backdrop of exhaustion. As if to echo my hunger, my stomach let out an audible growl, a reminder of the sustenance it so desperately craved.

My lips, chapped and cracked, bore witness to the arduous journey, while my dark, short hair clung to the sweat on my forehead, a testament to the physical exertion we had endured.

We stood above the pack staring down at the people moving about daily. Some in their wolf form. Laughing and having fun.

"Are you ready?" Olivia asked.

I nodded and stepped into the town, determined to remain strong despite the judgmental atmosphere.

Walking with my head held high and my gaze fixed forward, I chose to ignore the stares and the spiteful whispers that followed me.

The voices of the pack people carried on, their words cutting through the air like shards of glass. "Hey, isn't that the girl who dated the alpha?" one voice sneered.

"What's she doing here? I thought she renounced being a wolf and went to mingle with those filthy humans," another voice jeered.

The cruelty in their words was palpable, and it felt as though their gazes were drilling into my back, trying to break my resolve.

In an act of sheer audacity, one person even spat at my foot, a blatant display of contempt. But I refused to let their actions weaken me. I held my composure, refusing to react or let their toxic behavior tarnish my spirit.

I knew for sure their whispers would not define me; their taunts would not deter me. I just wanted to find my kids, that's all that matters even if it meant facing the harsh judgments of the pack for the choice that I made.

With every step, I grew closer to my impending doom. The door to the pack house. Where I know he would be.

The pack warriors who stood by the pack house quickly moved to block my entrance.

They were shirtless like every warrior should be. For easy transformation to their wolf form. Their face was emotionless as they stared ahead, not looking at me in the eye.

"We can't let you in," One with dark hair said.

I frowned. "Why?"

The other with a scar across his face replied. "This is the Alpha's residence. We can't let a non-pack member bring herself into it"

Well, this was embarrassing.

Olivia who stood beside me walked forward, arms crossed around her chest.

"Don't act like you don't know us. We have issues that matter to your alpha. Even if you won't let us in, please do inform him that Mia Thompson would like to see him. I am sure he would grant us an audience"

The scar-faced man gave us a once-over before turning on his feet and leaving.

Olivia stepped back and placed a hand on my shoulder. Patting me.

It didn't take long before the door was opened by the dark-haired guy and we were allowed in.

I wasted no time, as I rushed towards the office he would be in.

I didn't miss him. It wasn't because I wanted to see how he had grown or anything like that. It's for the kids. The kids alone. That's what I tried to tell myself.

As I pushed the door open, to the Alpha's office, I stopped at my footsteps.

My heart fell into a pit.

I should have waited, not just barged in like a wild animal.

Because in that room was his family, I recognized his mother, his father, two strange couples, and a gorgeous girl seated by Lucas' side with her hand on his shoulder.

In the midst of his all there he was. Seated in the middle of them all was him. His hair is darker and a bit longer. Half of it was tied at the back with strands falling on his forehead. He looked manly. More muscular. More like an alpha, not a boy that she had fallen in love with as a child. His amber-colored eyes watched me, there was no surprise in them nor was there recognition.

Stoic, one could say. He had a dominating presence that wasn't there when he was younger.

I bowed my head in respect, clenching my hands together.

"I apologize for the way I had barged in," I said.

I heard a scoff, from Lucas's mother, I could recognize that sound anywhere. She had done that a lot to me.

"Is that what you were taught in the human world? To be this disrespectful" She said, with a tsk.

"I am sorry I shouldn't have. If you want me to leave I would"

"Well, you are already here, so you might as well get in with it."

I heard him say. My heart clenched as I heard his voice. Deeper. Oh, God. I should stop myself from feeling tingles and concentrate on the task at hand.

I tried to wait to see if they would at least give him privacy but they remained in the room like bees sucked to their queen.

"I need your help, Alpha," I said.

I heard his mother scoff again. She doesn't get tired of doing that. "And why should we help you? You are not even among the pack, just an outcast, ..."

"Mother," Lucas growled as a warning. Shutting his mother up. He then turned to me and added. "Help for what?"

I steeled myself and looked up. Looked into his amber eyes and said, "My children. They are in danger." And that was when I saw it. A flicker of emotions within his eyes but then he disappeared.

"Why should I help you? You are not a member of my pack. Your kids are not a member of my pack, so why should I help you?"

I clenched my fist trying to keep the anger building from his lack of care. "It's because it was a werewolf who did it. They were claw marks. The nanny was killed and my children were taken"

He leaned back against his chair, watching me. "And why were your children taken?"

"I do not know for now." I made sure I would conceal that they had powers. To prevent more enemies that may want to leech off them and hurt my kids.

"I assume the father of your children is a werewolf then, am I right?" I nodded. "Why didn't you take it up with their father then?

"I am already taking it up with their father," I said.

He raised an eyebrow. "And no reply from him?"

"I am still awaiting your reply. Then I would know where else to go from here."

Silence ensued. As silent realization kicked into their minds. Lucas' eyes widened as he sat up in his seat watching me. I could see the questions swirling in his eyes. There was also doubt. He had always been expressive with his eyes with me. While he tried to keep an expressionless face, his eyes held his emotions.

The silence was broken by the dainty girl, who looked like a wannabe mean girl. She stood up, placing her hands on the table.

She gave me a nice smile as she spoke. "I am Amelia Donovan, you probably don't know me but I am Alpha Lucas Fianceé and it's a bit weird for me to sit and watch an unknown woman come in here and claim to have children that belong to him...it's impossible," She said with disbelief.

"I understand that it may be very doubtful but me and Lu- the alpha used to be...very close in the past and I had just found out he was getting married. I was not able to let him know that I was pregnant." As I said each word, I looked at him and he me.

I could see the recognition in his eyes. He believed me. Because he too remembered that day.

"That's not very convincing. You say kids, meaning they are more than one...were you having an affair with him throughout the years or what?" The wannabe mean girl said.

"They are triplets" They gasped, I continued "As my kids are not here I cannot use a DNA test. But I do have a picture. One of them, Noah, has the Alpha's eyes...he is like a little copy of the Alpha"

There were now whispers in the room. Lucas crossed his arms, still keeping his expression. He the. Said in an authoritative voice. "Everyone leaves"

They didn't hesitate before leaving, except the wannabe bitch girl that still stood there looking at me with hatred and annoyance.

"And why aren't you leaving?" Lucas asked her.

Amelia crossed her arms. "I stay. End of story"

Lucas then stood up. "Very well, you can stay in the room," He said walking towards me. Looking like an Adonis god.

Amelia gasped. "Lucas. You can't do this. You aren't considering helping her, are you?"

Lucas didn't answer. He gave me a slight nod to leave the room.

"You can't leave. You can't help her. I am already in a position as it is"

Lucas stopped and looked at her. "What are you babbling about?"

It seemed that this was a common argument between them and it seems that Lucas has already resigned arguing with her. I couldn't help but wonder ..why exactly is he still with her.

Amelia now walked closer to Lucas. A smile on her lips. Different from the character she once held just now.

She now stood before us and took Lucas's hand and placed it on her stomach.

"You can't leave...because I am pregnant"
