Chapter 6 At Zella

CHAPTER 6 - At Zella

When Ria woke up it was almost noon.

She got out of bed and went downstairs.

Old Man Zevon had already left for the office.

She went to the kitchen to find the butler who told her that the old man had asked her to join him at his office at noon. She quickly got ready, had her breakfast, and set off for the company.

Ria arrived at the company and was amazed. She had last been to the building five years ago, and the transformation that had occurred since then was not huge but was not small either. The building was very large, a symbol of success that could be seen for miles.

The lobby of the building was elegant and modern, with marble floors and grandiose ceilings. Every surface shimmered in the sunlight that poured in through the vast windows, and the walls were adorned with art depicting the company's success. An impressive fountain bubbled away in the center of the lobby, and a giant wall-sized screen showed the latest news from the company.

Ria made her way to the central atrium, where the size and scope of the building were truly impressive. The atrium stretched up towards the roof, filled with office workers and their desks, and the walls were decked with advanced technology and state-of-the-art equipment. A glass elevator hissed and opened on the far side of the room, and the sound of bustling conversations filled the air.

Ria suddenly felt pressure engulfing her. She was going to be in charge of this large company one day. She had to do her best to not let her grandfather down.

Ria walked up to the reception desk steadily.

She gave the receptionist Old Man Zevon's name and said that she was there to meet him.

The receptionist gave her a cold stare and said, "I'm sorry miss, but you do not have an appointment. I'm afraid I can't let you in."

Ria frowned and replied, "My grandfather asked me to come, he's expecting me,"

"I'm sorry, but I assure you, if you had an appointment, I would have seen it in the system," the receptionist said, then she continued, "You claim the chairman is your grandfather. Show me your ID for clarification".

"I did not bring my ID," Ria rolled her eyes at the receptionist.

Ria felt annoyed as she stood there being judged and looked down upon. She decided to call the old man to let him know she was there.

As she turned around to make the call, she could hear the receptionist gossiping with an employee.

"Look, this girl here claims to be the chairman's granddaughter. Who doesn't know that the miss of ZELLA is currently studying abroad". The receptionist said, her voice full of scorn.

"What if she is the young miss," the employee protested.

"She could not even provide her ID, which shows that she was lying."

"You are right." The employee finally agreed with the receptionist.

After the phone rang for a while, the old man finally answered.

"Grandpa, it's me, Ria. I'm at the office but the receptionist won't let me in. I told her I'm your granddaughter and I'm here to see you but she still said no." Ria said in a whining tone.

"Oh, Ria. That's not right. I'll take care of it right away." Old Man Zevon paused for a moment before he continued, "Hold on, I'm coming down now. The receptionist won't give you any trouble after I arrive."

"Okay, Grandpa," Ria said before hanging up.

Soon enough, she heard the ding of an elevator. She looked up to see Old Man Zevon with his secretary walking behind him.

"Let's go, shall we." Old Man Zevon said to Ria as soon as he walked up to her.

"Asher, take care of these two," He said to his secretary while leading Ria to the elevator. Leaving the receptionist and the employee in shock.

When they got to the CEO's office, Old Man Zevon led Ria to the long couch before calling someone to bring in a cup of coffee.

When the coffee arrived, Old Man Zevon gave it to Ria and sat down next to her.

Ria could see from his face that the old man had something to tell her.

She took small sips of the coffee while waiting for the old man to say what he wanted to say.

After a while, her grandfather cleared his throat, a serious expression on his face. "Ria, there's something I need to discuss with you."

Ria raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "What is it, Grandpa?"

Old Man Zevon hesitated for a moment before speaking. "I've arranged a blind date for you tomorrow evening."

Ria blinked in surprise. "A blind date? But why?"

Old Man Zevon sighed, his eyes filled with concern. "You're already 22, Ria. I'm worried about you. I want you to have someone in your life before you take over the company."

Ria was taken aback. She had been so focused on her studies and her career that she hadn't given much thought to her personal life. But she understood her grandfather's concern. He was her only family, and he wanted her to be happy.

She nodded, a small smile on her face. "Alright, Grandpa. I'll go on the date."

The old man's face lit up with relief. "Thank you, Ria. And there's one more thing. I want you to start working at the company next week."

Ria nodded again, her mind already buzzing with ideas. "Of course, Grandpa. I can't wait to start."

Her grandfather smiled at her, his eyes filled with pride. "I knew I could count on you, Ria. Welcome home."

Ria smiled back at him, her heart filled with warmth. She was home, and she was ready to face whatever the future held for her.
