It's been a week since Kachi's father sent her packing. She had only one place in mind to go,which was peter's.

Peter's mother resents her. Mazi Dike was not happy with what happened. Both parents insisted that Kachi will not live or give birth to her child in their house because she wasn't married to their son and they don't want people to talk ill of them.

Peter tried to persuade his parents but all his pleas fell on deaf ears. They had to look for another alternative.

"how about I go live with onyinye?" Kachi suggested after a while of coming up with nothing. Onyinye was Kachi's only friend in the village.

"wouldn't that inconvenience her?" Peter asked not really worried about inconveniencing Onyinye but because he doesn't like her and didn't want his woman living there.

"I don't think so. She was even the one who suggested that to me, since your parents doesn't want me in your house" Kachi replied.

"what? you tell her what goes on in this house?" Peter snapped.

"Peter she's my only friend what else do you expect?" Kachi replied rhetorically.

"you are so unbelievable. An outsider should not know what goes on in your family" Peter replied,trying to control his anger.

"Family? which family? the one that has given me a deadline to leave the house,with their grand child?" Kachi snapped tearily.

"and now that someone is willing to take me in,she's now an outsider,really?!!!" she continued not allowing Peter to defend himself because he really doesn't have anything to say.

Peter sighed frustrated and wiped his face with his palm. He doesn't want Kachi off his sight and it pains his heart seeing her cry especially in this condition.

But as it is now,he has no choice. All he has to do now is make sure he works hard to make enough money and legally marry his woman.

"am sorry my love..." he apologized sincerely. "you can go live with Onyinye until you give birth,OK?"

"what happens after that...?" Kachi asked curiously.

"when we get there,we will sort things out..." He replied.

While Kachi lived with Onyinye,Peter made sure that he visits and spends time with her. He made sure that he makes her happy as his strength could carry.

As time flew by,Kachi's baby bump grew. She became too lazy for her liking and eats too much. Onyinye on her part made sure that Kachi is well fed.

"Kachi,is this how you want to live for the rest of your life?" Onyinye asked one night,while they sat under the moon,in the cool breeze of the night.

"how do you mean?" Kachi asked and took a bite from her coconut.

"i mean do you plan to live your life in abject poverty with Peter?" Onyinye asked.

"Onyinye,what has gotten into you? Have you forgotten that Peter is the love of my life and the father of my child?" Kachi shrieked.

"i know that and I am not disputing that fact. what am saying is..." Onyinye tried to speak further but Kachi cut her short.

"I am not interested in knowing what ever is it you have to say. I love peter and I will stay with him and that's final."Kachi shuned Onyinye with authority.

"oh! ndi love (love birds)" Onyinye teased her.

"what would you know about love? you will not know because you don't have a man of your own not to talk of getting pregnant" Kachi replied.

"is that supposed to be an insult?" Onyinye frowned.

"am sorry" Kachi quickly apologized,after realizing that she spoke out of line.

"and just so you know,I will never get pregnant for a poor wretched man like Peter" Onyinye ignored Kachi's apology and walked away.

Kachi was hurt by Onyinye's statement. Yes she spoke out of line but she apologized right? That was so evil of Onyinye to call her man wretched.

"it's just for the moment...until you arrive...it will end soon..." Kachi looked down on her stomach and caressed it while talking like the fetus could hear her.

The next morning,both ladies didn't talk to each other;each went about her own business. Kachi left to see Peter. She needed a distraction and he was a perfect one.

Kachi and Peter had a wonderful time together. Though she didn't mention her fight with Onyinye to him,Peter still figured out something was wrong.

"Kachi is Onyinye giving you a hard time?" Peter asked

"no..why would think of that?" Kachi replied

"I don't know...maybe...I just can't place what,but I sense you are not happy." He confessed.

Kachi chuckled softly and widens her smile..."don't worry,we are doing just fine"

"are you sure?" Peter asked still not convinced.

"doubting Thomas,am sure" Kachi replied

"my name is Peter not Thomas" Peter faked a frown.

"OK,doubting Peter..." Kachi laughed at his childish behavior.

Meanwhile,Onyinye has been worried about Kachi's whereabouts. it's been hours since she left the house and is yet to return.

Onyinye brought out her phone to call Kachi,but remembered that she doesn't have one to begin with.

"ugh...broke ass" Onyinye sighed. "I wonder what she sees in that guy"

She was still muttering to herself when Kachi and Peter walked into the compound and she gave a sigh of relief.

"hey do you know how worried I was?" Onyinye said as soon as Kachi approached her.

"why are you worried? didn't you know she was coming to see me?" Peter chirped in immediately.

"well...i...we...I mean..."Onyinye stuttered.

"I didn't tell her before leaving" Kachi intervened she can't risk Peter knowing that she had a fight with Onyinye. That would give him the opportunity he had been wanting for a long time now.

"yes.."Onyinye chortled anxiously.

"why did you do that?" Peter asked Kachi looking directly into her eyes.

"hmm...?" Kachi hmmmed. "do what?"

"leave without telling her" He asked pointing at Onyinye.

"oh,she was sleeping as at then" She lied again and swallowed hard. She just wished that her too inquisitive boyfriend would just let it go.

Peter turned his gaze to Onyinye. He took his time to scan her with his eyes. Her clothes;looks expensive.

Everything about her is odd.Ever since she returned from where ever it was she went to,she turned abnormal.

Onyinye began to feel uncomfortable with the way Peter was looking at her,even Kachi could feel the intensity of Peter's gaze. Peter's eyes caught the phone in Onyinye's hand.

"you...you have a phone?" He asked suspiciously and she quickly hid it behind her.

"that's enough peter. Let her be. it's not a new thing that Onyinye has a phone" Kachi stepped in. She was also surprised to find out that her friend has a phone,a big one for that matter and she didn't know.

"you knew?" Peter asked

"yes,so please let her be. I will see you tomorrow OK?" She replied and bade him good bye.

Onyinye stood,dazed by Kachi's ability to lie on the spot. 'damn,the girl is good at lying ooo' she said in her mind.

Peter casted one last look at Onyinye before leaving. Kachi quietly walked into the house,and Onyinye followed suit.
