Chapter 5 SCENTED CANDLES

CHAPTER FOUR

~ROSELINE~

"So, what was in the gift package you said Alpha gave you?" Pius asked.

"A bundle of scented candles, rice flakes and a ball of golden thread" I replied.

"Did you say scented candles?" He said widening his eyes and turned towards me.

"Yes, why?" I asked.

"Those are expensive like crazy, you know how much one is?" He said which made me remember when the Lycan king mentioned it when it fell from my hands.

"Oh really?, I didn't know, but they used to be in my late Mom's room" I said while shrugging.

"Your dad must really love your mom then, those things cost a fortune" he said then I hummed in response.

"So, have you spoken to your wolf?" He spoke up again.

"Yes, she said her name is Mani" I said with a content smile.

"That name....I've heard it somewhere" he said.

"Really?, Where was that?" I asked with great interest.

"Don't bother yourself, it's more like a folktale or something, but I know I've heard it, it's a beautiful name regardless" he said while ruffling my hair.

"Hey stop!, I combed this hair for hours" I said as I moved away from him while frowning.

"Awwww, that's so cute, well I love ruffling it so?" He rose to his feet in a bid to catch me and I ran.

We were at our usual spot, the training ground, I couldn't meet up with him as agreed yesterday because I felt so sore and tired, the Lycan king promised to be back by mid-evening but all I only got was some maids being sent to my room to change my bed.

I halted as yesterday's event surfaced in my mind, making me blush.

"Seems you got tired huh, wait, are you blushing?" Pius said when he saw the redness of my cheeks.

"Hmm, no" I tried to defend myself.

"Yes, you're blushing, eii, what are you thinking about?" He said after chuckling at my failed attempt to hide my blush.

"How can I block the Lycan king from reading my mind?" I asked him.

"You mean Alpha?" He asked to confirm.

"Of course" I replied, while nodding.

"He invades your thoughts, doesn't he?"

He asked, then go to sit on one of the field benches.

"Something like that, can you please tell me how to prevent him from reading my thoughts now?" I asked again.

"The only way is to successfully build a wall around the thoughts of your mind" he said, increasing my confusion.

"A wall around the thoughts of my mind?" I asked him.

"Yes, you have to be calm, then visualize in your mind that bricks are forming a wall around you, I don't know if I'm making sense" he said, pondering how to put it in an explainable way to me.

"I think I understand" I barely said when a servant-maid came running in our direction.

"Miss Roseline, greetings, the Alpha requests for you in his chambers" she said and scurried away as soon as she came.

"Why do I feel there's a lot attached to yesterday than what you're telling me?" Pius turned to ask me, looking strict and putting on the big brother act.

"I don't understand what you are tr..trying to say Pius" I said, fumbling with my fingers while suddenly admiring the ground.

"I see, whenever you lie, you never look at me" he said.

"I have to go now, Pius, I'm sorry" I said and turned to go when Pius caught me by my right-hand wrist before saying "just be careful Roseline, please, that's all I ask for".

I nodded immediately, and he lets go of my wrist, bading me a goodbye.

I began to head to the Alpha's chambers when I saw Fiona, my cousin that I hadn't seen in years, coming out of one of the numerous rooms, I was about going after her when a guard ushered me in and the door closed.

"You kept me waiting, darling" I heard, before I saw the Alpha seated on a large couch with a glass of drink in his hand.
