Chapter 2 THE DEPARTURE

CHAPTER ONE

~ROSELINE~

Yesterday was my 21st birthday, and today?.

It's the day my father gives me away to some stranger, who am I kidding?, he's pratically selling me off to one of the ruthless being alive, the Lycan king.

A week ago, it was announced that , the Lycan king came to pay a visit to the Rivers pack, my pack. Few days later, a rumor began to spread, that the Lycan king came to buy me, some said he came to marry me, whichever it is, I hope it's not true.

I haven't heard anything from my father, so I didn't believe it even when I could feel it was true.

My aunt had been in my father's chambers all night, probably asking for a way for that not to happen. It wasn't like life had been easy here anyways, being a princess is one good thing, being an omega is what spoils it. I was always getting insulted for my inability to spar or show incredible strength as the daughter of an alpha king, if not for the striking resemblance I have with the king, my mother would've been accused of giving birth to a bastard.

I took a look at my wall mirror for the last time.

"Princess Roseline, your presence is needed at the throne room, you're to dress appropriately as you'll be meeting an important guest" the palace messenger said after knocking twice on my door.

Few seconds later, Tiana, my childhood best friend rushed into my room panting before saying "thank goodness , I'm able to catch up with you, I've heard about that Lycan king and his evil nature, just in case you might need my help one-day, take this (she says as she imprints her were(wolf) bead into my shoulder.

"Thanks for this Tia" I said with a grateful heart.

"It's nothing girl, just be good" she said, brushing it off but I know how hard it must be for her, we pratically grew up together.

I took one last look at the room I've always inhabited since young, saying a silent goodbye, I turned on my heels but not before giving Tiana a farewell hug.

"Why does she look like a starved rabbit?" A man who I presume to be the lycan king said with a raised eyebrow, standing behind him are two stoic-looking men.

"You're not here to insult my daughter, Alpha Darius, and you won't" my father said with his eyes color changing, his wolf was becoming agitated.

"Oh, easy there Gerald, it was only a joke" he said chuckling as he spoke.

"My Princess" my father said and he walked up to me, then continued "I'm sad to say this, but you have to go with him, " he said motioning to the Lycan king seated on the right hand of his throne, as I began to loose grip on my emotions, oh no, not here.

"But why?, do you also hate me? You feel disappointed that your only child is an omega, don't you?" I said, trying to get my words out as confident as possible. I've heard rumors about how the lycan king fed people to his dogs for minor offences, is this the man father is giving me away to?

"What a lovely daughter and father moment" the lycan king playfully chipped in and father ignores.

"How could I hate my only child?, besides it's only going to be for a while, Princess, look at me" he said as I looked at him and saw the sincerity in his eyes.

"But why? I never complained nor refused doing any odd jobs allocated to me in the omega's quarter, I've stayed out of trouble everytime" I questioned him, wondering why the only parent I have left wants to give me away this way.

"Dylan, are you still seriously going to let your only child go with that Lycan king?" My aunt said, echoing through the hall as she stepped into the throne room.

"I think I've had enough!" the lycan king bellowed as he rose to speak and the room became a bit darker. I think he's had enough of it.

"Pardon my reception, Alpha Darius" my father said bowing, making me wonder the Lycan King's value.

"You can meet me outside in five minutes after your little family reunion, Princess" he said and began to leave with his guards, then abruptly stopped to say "I do not permit lateness, not even a second", then disappeared among the halls.

"I'm sorry for you Dylan, see the kind of man you're letting her go with huh?" My aunt screamed in rage, then began to cry out loud.

"And you think I'm happy doing this?! It is for the best" he retorted back.

"Don't come running when this backfires" she said bitterly.

"It won't, I'll fix this Princess, I promise, I will" he said as he looked at me sadly.

"I'm sorry you're going through this baby, I really tried avoiding this even before it came to your hearing" my aunt said, giving me her signature puppy eyes, then continued "and you can please have this" she said placing a a wooden box in my palm, I was about to ask what, when she whispered "it is real gold, use it when in dire need, okay?, and attached to one of it is my fur, call me whenever you need me, you can only use it once." she said she gave me a kiss.

"Now it's time to go deal with those nosy servants" she said as she stormed away in the general kitchen direction.

"Goodbye Roseline, I'll come for you, I promise" my father said as I rushed down through the halls.

"You're 23 seconds late" the lycan king said looking up straight at me.

"Ermm, I'm sor...ry sir" I stammered trying to find the right words.

"You should be, now hop into the carriage, we have a long journey ahead" he said as he lit up his tobacco.

I did as he said when I noticed him heading to the second compartment.

"Am I meant to follow him?" I began to contemplate.

"No" he answered making me stunned.

" Did I say that loud?" I thought to myself.

"You didn't say it loud" he said again for the second time then he continued "don't bother troubling your brain, settle yourself in and relax well because it's going to be a long journey".

A bell suddenly dinged, the horses hoot and began moving. This was when reality dawned on me, I'm finally leaving my father's pack.

Wait, did he just read my mind?.
