Chapter 4 Hired!

Teary and determined Helma spoke up " sir, it has been my dream to get a job since my graduation. I can't go home unemployed sir. I would really appreciate if you consider my plea" He looked at her without any emotions on his face. He stood up, walked towards the window. He asked "you want a job?". Immediately Helma nodded .He smirked," you would not be working as a sales rep, but as my secretary and personal assistant".

Helma couldn't believe her ears. Before she could utter a word, he gave a stern look and sipped coffee " you have 30 seconds to decide". Helma was torn again between her quest for a job and her one night stand. She needed the job badly, but how would she face her boss daily knowing he was her one night stand.

"3,2,....." Desperately Helma nodded "I will take the offer sir". He sat down with an indecisive look on his face. "You choosed right. You will be paid twice the salary of sales rep because you are working as my secretary and personal assistant. Your job comes with many conditions. Among which is your location. You must be five minutes away from me all the time, I like my morning coffee before 8:15am without cream and light sugar, your outfits must be modest like this always" he said with a mean smile.

Helma stared dumbfounded. How can she live five minutes away from him? Was he deliberately trying to fustrated her? With a slight frown, she asked " where do you live sir?". He kept a mean smile on his face " my home is at castle estate miss". Helma knew he was deliberately trying to make her go home unemployed. She couldn't allow herself to be bullied she stood up and looked at him in the eyes "sir, I know rich people like you, delight pleasure in seeing people suffer. How can I afford rent in castle estate? "

He chuckled "a fierce princess you are. This only means one thing, you get to live in my home. Your interview is over miss. You will get half your salary in an hour, get yourself modest clothes. Peter will pick you up before 7:40pm. Helma stood with her mouth half opened. She adjusted her blazzer and walked towards the door. His deep voice called stopped her "I am Donald, I know you have been curious to know". Helma walked out and hissed beneatg her breathe "proud".

Helma walked out of the office with doubts. She wondered if she has made the right decision. Working and living with her one night stand. She was glad she was going to be paid , at least she could settle part of her debts. She thought about her rent in the elevator, she wouldn't be renewing since she was moving in with Mr proud.

At the reception, Helma gave Jane a bright smile. Jane called to her "congratulations ma'am, you were asked to drop your payment details here". Helma filled the form and handed it over to Jane. Jane looked at Helma with pity "I am sorry ma, but you should be careful. Boss secretaries don't last a month on the pay roll" she said whispering. Helma's turned cold. What has she gotten herself into. Why is Mr proud trying to get rid of her? Was he disappointed or disgusted by her? Offering her a job that nobody has occupied for a month?.

Helma smiled weakly "thank you miss Jane, I will be more careful". She picked her purse and walked out. She got a taxi and headed home. In the taxi, Helma got her first half salary. She screamed loud enough for the birds to hear. In reflex, the taxi driver stopped to ask what was wrong. Helma had sweats on her face, she hasn't seen such an amount in her life. And to say This was only half her salary.

She counted the figures 30,000$ this means her full salary is 60,000$. This was more than her debts. She quickly apologized to the taxi driver and changed her destination. She stopped in front of a spa. It's has been ages since she got into a spa. She has her nails done, her hair trimmed and treated. Helma felt like a real princess.

She left the spa and went straight to the mall. She got nice outfits that Donald instructed. She got emerald dresses, white blazzers, black plain trousera, heels, purses,scarfs simple jewelries. She got to the nightee session and got new pjamas. She was moving in to castle estate, her old pj's were not worthy. She saw a funny pj that she loved. It had sheeps all over, she immediately added it to her cart.

Helma walked through the men's session and remember her mother's words "always appreciate anyone that puts a smile on your face" she sighed softly. She looked for a perfect Gift for Mr proud. She finally got an emerald colored tie and a matching cufflinks. Helma had a fulfilment Smile. She has never been able to pay all once for all her needs.

She went home and packed her bags. She wrote a mail to her agent, informing him, she wouldn't be renewing her rent. She checked her balance, and paid half of her student loan. She knew with her salary she will be able to clear off her student loan next month.

Helma dressed up in a lounge wear. She moved her already packed bag to the sitting room. She stared at her old apartment, she had peace here she could only pray now, that she finds peace in castle estate. 7pm she heard a knock on her door. She knew it was Peter, the driver who was to pick her. She opened the door with a polite smile, but it disappeared immediately.

"You shouldn't be looking at your boss in that manner miss". Donald said letting himself in. " For once, I hired a lady that keeps to time, let's go miss ". Helma stood without a word. Shtimeed him quietly. She couldn't explain the feelings she got immediately she saw him. Her tongue was held and her legs shivers of shock. She walked outside with Donald. She watched peter load up her bags in the trunk.

"All done sir" Peter's voice echoed from the driver's seat. Donald gave her a "get in" look. She sat at the back seat with Donald her new boss. She played with her nails nervously. She didn't know what this new life has for her. "If you keep picking your nails, you will have to visit the spa again tomorrow" Donald chuckled looking at his phone. He looked at her coldly " Give me your phone " Helma looked at him with questions on her face.
