Chapter 5 Ben in trouble

After the date Ben decided to make findings about Rose's background, while going through her social media page he stumbled across a picture of her with the popular politician Douglas and his wife. Perhaps she met them at an event he thought to himself.

As he kept scrolling downward he kept seeing pictures of her with Mr Douglas,he wondered why she had so many pictures with such a prominent politician.His eyes bulged as he saw the caption written on one of the pictures she took with Mr douglas .It said thank you for being the best dad one can ask for,Ben could not believe it Rose was Mr Douglas's daughter.

Ben could not fathom why Rose never told him of something this important,Mr Douglas was the most ruthless politician in Texas.Since the start of his political career Douglas could boast of not loosing a single election.

Ben began to worry,he knew that Mr Douglas would never approve of the relationship he had with rose,of course it would be bad for his political career if the media found out his daughter was romantically involved with a kitchen assistant.

Ben felt so much pain,he knew that rose was out of his league in all ramifications but what he just discovered heightened the insecurities which had already been plaguing him.

He worried about the potential complications that would arise in their relationship if her father discovered they were together.

Ben wept profusely,he mourned the fact that he was born into poverty.He mourned the fact that he would have to end the relationship with rose even though he loved her,he wept because of the feelings of inadequacy that consumed him.

Ben started giving rose the cold shoulder,he moved from giving her utmost care and attention to ignoring her calls and texts.

To Rose it felt like her world was ending,the care and attention she was receiving from Ben stopped suddenly.She was so confused,she believed that the date that they had in the garden was amazing so she did not understand why he was acting cold towards her.

Eventually Ben stopped replying her messages and picking her calls altogether,she wondered what she could have done to him and felt very hurt.

But since Rose was not somebody that gave up easily,she decided she would go to his place of work and confront him since he refused to pick her calls and texts.

Ben was going about his daily tasks at his place of work when rose suddenly walked into the kitchen,he stared at her wide eyed wondering what she was doing here.

"Madam it seems you're in the wrong place,The toilet is in that direction"Ben said.Rose was about to disagree when she realized that all eyes were on her,her plan was to question him about his sudden dissapearance but it was a delicate matter that should not be discussed to the hearing of the general public.

"Could you lead me to the toilet please?"she asked.Ben left the kitchen on the guise of leading her to toilet.Immediately they left the kitchen she dropped the act,she questioned Ben on why he had been avoiding her.She wanted to get to the root of his sudden dissapearance.

With so much vulnerability in her heart Rose confessed the love which she harboured for Ben,She talked about how his attitude towards her had hurt her deeply.She also burst into tears because she felt overwhelmed with emotions.

Ben felt touched by it all and confessed that he had been avoiding her because he found out her father was a politician,he understood that her father was powerful and would never give him a chance to prove the love he had for his daughter.He tried his best to explain to rose so she could understand the potential consequences of their relationship,he imagined the public finding out that the daughter of a rich and powerful politician like Douglas was dating an ordinary kitchen assistant who was neck deep in debt.

However rose remained adamant about her love for him,she claimed that all his worries were irrelevant and that she was ready to weather the storm with him if he was ready to stand by her.

Despite his initial reservations,Ben was swayed by her determination to be with him despite all the obstacles they might face.Giving in to her reassurance she offered Ben felt his initial reservations slip away.He then leaned in to give her a passionate kiss not minding the fact that they were in his work place,they both broke apart when they heard the sounds of approaching footsteps.

The footsteps belonged to none other than Mr Dan Ben's boss.To Ben's surprise Rose walked up to Mr Dan and gave him a big hug."Uncle Dan how are you doing?"she questioned .Ben was confused by the sudden display of affection,Did Rose just call his boss uncle Dan.

"What are you doing here , Aren't you supposed to be in the kitchen"Mr Dan questioned in a loud booming voice that startled both Rose and Ben."Go back to your duty post Ben"Mr Dan commanded in a voice that left no room for arguments.Instantly Ben hurried towards the direction of the kitchen leaving Rose alone with his boss.

Mr Dan questioned rose and asked her what she was doing with Ben,she claimed that he showed her the way to the toilet after she went in the wrong direction.He pretended like he believed her but the truth was he had heard the entire conversation she had with Ben and even saw them kissing .

He couldn't believe that rose would be romantically involved with someone like Ben,If somebody had told him Rose was dating his kitchen assistant Ben he would have tagged the person a chronic liar.

Rose worried that uncle Dan did not buy her story of being lost,she had been to ectasy so many times that the probability of her being lost seemed unlikely.She could only hope that uncle Dan had not heard the entire conversation she had with Ben,or even worse seen them share a kiss.If he had seen it he would definitely inform her father Douglas as they were very close friends.

In his office Dan pondered on whether to inform Douglas of what he just stumbled upon,Eventually he decided that telling Douglas what he just discovered was the sensible thing to do.

Picking up his handset he dialed Douglas's number,on the third ring Douglas picked up the call "Hello Douglas I have something important to tell you and you might need to seat down to hear this one"Dan said.
