Chapter 2 Apply As A Tutor

Elias sighed inwardly. Of course, he didn't have the heart to refuse Ella. He was silent for a while, thinking. Then he said, "Okay, Grandma, I can agree to your request. But I have to let you know in advance that I will never like a greedy woman. Even if you give me three years, I won't change my mind, let alone three months."

Ella countered, "Who are you talking about? Scarlett is not that kind of woman. You will see."

Elias didn't want to waste his time arguing with Ella about Scarlett's character. So he said, "That's it, Grandma. I still have some work to do. Bye."

He put down his phone and glanced at the divorce agreement on the table. A gloom flashed in his eyes.

Scarlett was obviously using the trick of playing hard to get. Did she really think it was fun?

A year ago, she did everything to marry into the Roberts family for money. Now, she deliberately delayed the divorce for three months. Did she think she could change his mind in this way?

Unfortunately, he had made the decision, and no one could change it. Not even Ella.

The next day, Scarlett woke up early and prepared to leave.

She followed the address on her phone and arrived at a villa with a romantic and solemn atmosphere.

Even the carvings on the gate had clear texture and exquisite workmanship.

When Scarlett looked around, she found that this villa was even more luxurious and magnificent than the one she used to live in.

She was here to apply for a job as a tutor. It was Ella who introduced this opportunity to her.

Ella knew that Scarlett was a strong, independent woman and that she didn't want to owe the Roberts family money. So this year, Ella had introduced many part-time jobs to her.

With Scarlett's outstanding ability, she had paid her debt in just a year.

The salary for this part-time tutoring job was much higher than any of her previous jobs. Scarlett still needed money, so she had no reason to refuse this job.

Scarlett walked closer to the gate. Suppressing the nervousness in her heart, she raised her hand and rang the doorbell.

She stood in front of the gate for a while. Soon, a woman in a servant's uniform came to open it.

Scarlett greeted the woman politely. "Hello, good morning. I'm here to apply as a tutor."

Susan was a little stunned when she saw Scarlett. Although she didn't want to, she must admit that she was amazed by the beauty of the young woman standing outside the gate.

Scarlett had delicate facial features, especially her eyebrows and eyes. They were really beautiful.

Then she sneered inwardly. She disdained Scarlett very much. But she didn't worry that much. She believed Scarlett would be unable to do the job. Scarlett wouldn't be a threat to her.

At the thought of this, Susan raised her chin at Scarlett and said, "Come in."

She then turned around, and Scarlett followed behind her.

While walking in front, Susan deliberately showed an arrogant attitude. She turned to Scarlett and warned, "I'm telling you, don't bother fantasizing about working here. This month, you are already the seventh tutor who came to apply for this job."

As she spoke, Susan's tone was full of complacency. "Zayne doesn't listen to anyone. He only obeys me." She turned around and glanced at Scarlett with a hint of regret in her eyes. "So, your effort in coming here is in vain."

Susan thought that, like the previous applicants, she would see a timid or flattering face.

She didn't expect Scarlett to be different. It seemed Scarlett didn't take her words seriously at all. Scarlett just looked around calmly.

Anger filled Susan's heart. She snorted slightly, thinking that Scarlett was just a country bumpkin. No wonder Scarlett had been looking around so seriously.

She took Scarlett to the living room through the front yard.

At this moment, her indifferent attitude vanished. With a gentle look on her face, she called out softly, "Zayne..."

Then, a little boy with fluffy golden hair came out from behind the sofa. He ran to Susan, held her hand tightly, and looked at Scarlett warily.

Zayne's reaction seemed to please Susan. The smile on her face became even more complacent.

She bent down, rubbed Zayne's head, and said softly, "Zayne, be a good boy, okay? This is your new teacher. Say hello to her."

Scarlett stood at the side quietly and observed Zayne. His brows furrowed, and he seemed very resistant to Susan's words. He immediately stepped back and hid behind Susan, looking frightened.

Before Scarlett came here, she did her research. She found that Zayne was autistic. He was already three years old, but he couldn't speak yet. Therefore, what Susan told her earlier was true. She was indeed the seventh tutor this month.

Susan's eyes narrowed slightly. She turned to Scarlett and said perfunctorily, "I'm really sorry. If Zayne keeps ignoring you like this, I'm afraid you won't be able to get this job. After all, if you want to be his tutor, you should have the ability to communicate with him."

Scarlett saw the sarcasm in Susan's eyes. She was silent for a while. Then she smiled gently and said, "I understand."

Susan felt a little embarrassed when she saw Scarlett's smile. But she just ignored Scarlett. Anyway, Scarlett would most likely be asked to leave like the previous applicants.

She glanced at Scarlett scornfully, and then looked away. "Please make yourself comfortable here. I have to go to the kitchen to prepare Zayne's lunch now."

Scarlett nodded slightly. When Susan left, she watched Susan's receding back for a while. Zayne followed Susan. But after a few steps, he slipped into a corner.

When Scarlett saw him huddle in a corner in a daze, she did not approach him rashly. She feared she would scare him even more. She looked away, and her eyes fell on the wall not far away with a thoughtful expression.

Soon, the corners of her mouth curved up slightly. An idea suddenly occurred to her. She now had a solution to her problem.
