"Alpha Caiden, please tell us you have any news regarding our daughter. It has been weeks since you had given us an update. We need to know if you have found her." Noah said with an intense tone.
"Unfortunately, I don't have an answer yet. I'm still trying to-" Caiden said but was interrupted by Noah.
"We know the Nightshade pack took our daughter. There is no doubt about that. They are the outcast pack. Everyone knows, including your pack, what the Nightshade pack is capable of." Noah said as he pulled out a chair in front of Caiden's desk.
"Alpha Noah, I understand the importance of the situation but I can't just go waltzing in there and demand them to hand over someone that Alpha Elijah has no idea about," Caiden said falling into his leather chair. 'At least I don't think he does.' He thought to himself.
"I know. I know." Noah said then his Omega placed her hand on his left leg. Giving her a smile he turned his attention back towards Caiden. "Please, we need to know if our daughter is still out there and if she..." Stopping mid-sentence, he closed his eyes. Caiden could see he was fearing the worst.
"Alpha Noah, I promised you I would stop at nothing. I am a man of my word. I will find her, please just give me a little bit more time." Caiden said leaning forward and waiting for Noah to turn his attention back to him.
"Very well. I trust you Alpha Caiden. Please, we're counting on you. Bring our daughter home." Noah said then made his way to his feet. He turned to his Omega and helped her up and Caiden walked them to the door.
Opening the door, Noah turned to Caiden, "You're the only one that can bring her home, if..." Noah's swallow was loud, then Caiden gave a warm smile and placed his hand on Noah's shoulder.
"She's out there. Well and healthy. I will find her. That is a promise." Caiden said, his warm smile turning into a sympathetic one.
"Thank you, Alpha," Noah said then left Caiden's office.
Caiden closed his office door and made his way back to his desk. Before he could sit there was a knock on his door once again. "Yes?" He said with a confused look on his face.
The door slowly crept open, "Alpha, can I enter?" A voice asked with the door slightly opened.
"Enter Beta Leo," Caiden said then Leo opened the door completely. "You know when I answer you are permitted to enter. No need to ask for permission."
"Yes, Alpha. Understood." Leo stood in front of Caiden's desk with his hands folded in front of him. While holding an envelope.
Caiden raised one eyebrow and stared at Leo, "What is it Beta?" Caiden asked before pulling his chair closer and taking a seat.
"A letter from the Nightshade Pack. It is an invitation to join them in celebrating Alpha Elijah's engagement." Leo said before handing Caiden the envelope.
Caiden's eyes widened by the information, "Engagement?" He said with shock.
"Yes, Alpha. The invention is for tomorrow." Leo said keeping his post.
Opening the letter, Caiden eyes scanned the page. "This is perfect. Now I have a valid reason to go there." He said while rubbing his chin with his index finger. "Please inform Alpha Elijah that I will be attending. Alone."
Leo gave Caiden a confused look, "But Alpha, wouldn't you want to take any of the women of the pack with you? Maybe they might be your mate and-" Leo stopped knowing he had overstepped.
"Enough. I don't need a mate to lead my pack. And I don't have any intention of finding a mate. Anyway, I won't be attending it entirely alone. You will be accompanying me." Caiden said leaning back in his chair. "So, pack your bags we will leave first thing tomorrow morning."
"But Alpha-" Leo said then got interrupted.
"You mate will be fine without you for one night. Go." Caiden said then noticed Leo didn't move. "Now Beta."
"Yes, Alpha," Leo said then bowed and made his way out of the office.
Caiden leaned back into his chair then turned around and stared out of the window. His mind was consumed by the thought of Elijah. About how he will try and fish out answers about Alpha Noah's daughter if he knows anything about her. But his mind kept asking, how?
Making his way to his feet he made his way to his room, grabbing a suitcase to start packing. His thoughts started to run away, knowing that the Moon goddess didn't bless him with a mate. Unable to admit this to anyone, he pretended not to want a mate. That he didn't feel the need to search for her.
Caiden's eyes turned bright green before a voice started to speak, "Well. Seems someone is a bit self-conscious about not having a mate." Flint, Caiden's wolf said.
"No, I'm not! I don't need a mate or anyone." Caiden said as anger filled this voice.
"Sounds to me like you do. If you didn't reject all the mates that the Moon goddess presented to you then you might have had a mate by now. But we all know, you only receive one, and you were given too many chances." Flint said.
"I know. But it doesn't matter. I don't need a mate to be the Alpha. And by the way, not everyone needs to know that I didn't get another mate, okay." Caiden said with irritation.
"Fine. But don't be pissed at me. I can't control what you do or say. I'm only here to help you in your wolf form and to give advice. If you don't follow it." Flint said and waited for Caiden to speak.
"It is my decision. I know." Caiden said then let out a sigh.
"Maybe, the Moon goddess will take pity on you and give you Elijah's mate," Flint said with a chuckle.
"Flint! Come on." Caiden said shaking his head.
"Fine, sorry. Get some sleep. You have a long and interesting day tomorrow." Flint said then Caiden's eyes changed back to brown.
Another sigh left Caiden's mouth once again. He fell back onto his bed, his eyes fixed on the ceiling. Closing his eyes slowly he fell asleep.
