Chapter 4 Who Donated The Eyes

Once fully in his spacious room, the twenty-five-year-old man carrying a briefcase looked up at Sarka with blinking eyes. Alan moved closer to Sarka, while Sarka himself stood up. Sarka stared at his brother with a look of surprise and fear on his face, but he controlled his expression as much as possible so as not to arouse too much suspicion from Alan.

Alan placed his briefcase on the table near the bookshelf, then he looked back at Sarka. "Who were you talking to?" he asked.

Sarka couldn't answer immediately. He looked at his brother while grinning. Scratching the back of his head that wasn't itchy, he finally said softly. "That, I..." Damn it, Sarka couldn't speak fluently, he stuttered, while he tried hard to think of a good reason.

And when an idea suddenly popped into his brain, without thinking, Sarka immediately voiced it. "That, I was reading your horror comic," he lied. To strengthen his excuse, the boy wearing a casual t-shirt moved towards the bookshelf and pulled out one of Alan's horror comics, which Sarka had read before. "This is the comic I was referring to!"

"Oh that, I thought you were crazy for talking to yourself." Alan waved a hand in front of his face. Then he leaned closer to his little brother and whispered something in front of Sarka's earlobe. "I thought you were talking to a real ghost just now." After finishing saying that, Alan put his head back.

Sarka looked at Alan's face while grinning a little. He secretly glanced at the top of the bookshelf behind Alan. The slightly shabby, white-clad Kuntilanak grinned with her white teeth at Sarka. Seeing that, Sarka shuddered in horror. Hastily, he turned his gaze away.

"There's no way I'm talking to a ghost," Sarka said defensively while grinning widely.

"You lied to my boyfriend, Sarka. Why don't you just tell him the truth that you were talking to me?" The whisper suddenly reached Sarka's ears. The shrill voice, accompanied by the giggling laughter of the female ghost, sent chills down Sarka's spine.

Instantly, Sarka stiffened in place. He glanced to the side and found the long-haired female ghost floating beside him. Sarka glared, annoyed by the invisible creature's words. "My brother is not your boyfriend!" he said out loud.

And instantly, Sarka realized what he had just said. He looked back at Alan with his breath held in his throat. Sarka was shocked, his heart beating twice as fast. Alan looked at Sarka with questioning eyes.

"Sarka, what's wrong with you?" asked Alan, both confused and curious. "Are you sick?"

"No, I'm okay," Sarka replied later, accompanied by a shake of the head. Sarka took a deep breath, then let it out quietly. "Sorry, I was talking out of turn." Sarka forced a wide smile.

"Yeah, it's okay, I was surprised just now when you shouted. Saying my name all over again." Alan shook his head. "Come sit here for a moment." Alan told Sarka to sit on the bed.

Without much protest, Sarka nodded obediently. He followed Alan's instructions.

Sarka felt lucky that his brother was not suspicious of him at all. After taking a seat, Sarka hissed softly while staring at the female ghost, who was still faithfully sitting on the bookcase. Sarka managed to draw a sharp gaze for her, but the female ghost giggled instead. Very annoying, in Sarka's opinion. Now, there was no longer any feeling of fear towards her, who claimed to be the occupant of Alan's room. Instead, the initial feeling of fear had now turned into annoyance beyond measure. That female ghost was really annoying.

Before Alan could say anything, Sarka started the conversation. He looked at his brother, who was sitting next to him. "Hey, how come you're home at this hour? Unusual, not like usual."

"Do I have to go home late at night? Not really, right?" Alan chuckled softly.

"Yeah, yeah, forget it." Sarka shook his hand. "I apologize for entering your room without permission, I was just trying to borrow your comic."

"There is no need to apologize for everything, just like that, it doesn't matter. Just relax with me, I'm your brother." Alan smiled as he put his arm around Sarka. "You can really see now, right?"

"Yes," Sarka nodded. "Everything is clear. I'm really happy to finally be able to see you again. I thought I wouldn't be able to see forever."

"I'm happy about this news too. You know what? I rushed home when my mom called that you were home."

"I'm happy to see your face again."

Alan ruffled his little brother's hair quickly. "From now on, you have to be more careful, huh? Just so you know, I have been really sad for the last six months. But finally, you can see the world again."

"I also feel very lucky about this." Sarka looked down, then let out a long sigh. "Who was the kind person who donated an eye to me?" Afterward, Sarka looked at Alan's face. "Do you think you know?"

Alan immediately shook his head, indicating he didn't know either. "If so, I don't know either, try asking mom. She'll know, she's the one who takes care of everything."

"Well, that's the problem, mom doesn't want to tell me. She said, I don't need to think about it anymore."

"Then you just follow her words. Already, don't think about it anymore, for sure, that person is very good to you."

"But I really want to say thank you to this kind person."

Alan nodded in understanding and said, "Maybe mom will tell you later, but not now."

Not wanting to ask further questions about the matter anymore, Sarka finally chose to change the subject. "It's been half a year since I've been able to see, I think your comics have increased."

"Yes, that's for sure. I usually make it a point to go to the bookstore after I get home from work, looking for the latest comics."

"I can borrow them later, right?" asked Sarka enthusiastically. He grinned while showing a row of his white and neat teeth.

"Yes, you can, why don't I let you borrow all my comics? Just take them and read what you find interesting. But there is one that you must read. I bought it two months ago. Wait a minute." Alan then stood up and walked towards his bookshelf. He took one of the comics from there. Sarka glared and held his breath as the pale-faced female ghost began to fly toward Alan. She briefly looked at Sarka, and that very second, Sarka immediately showed his fist for her.

Through his eyes, Sarka said that the female ghost should not get close to his brother, but she glared at him, making her face turn very scary. Sarka finally relented, he turned his face away out of fear.

"Well, this is the comic," Alan said as he sat down next to Sarka. "This has become one of my favorite comics. You have to read it, it's mandatory. Guaranteed, you'll like it."

Sarka took the comic from Alan's hand, fingered it, looked at the attractive cover, and flipped through the pages. "I think it's really good. The cover alone is cool like this."

"More than good, don't forget to read it! I'm going to take a shower first, then my body is really sticky," Alan allowed Sarka. After getting the answer of a head nod from him, Alan hurriedly moved to get a towel and walked towards the bathroom.

"Don't tell me you want to see him take a shower!" Sarka immediately exclaimed in a lowered tone of voice when he saw the female ghost starting to float behind Alan.

"Why not? Watching your brother bathe has been a habit of mine for a long time. You won't be able to stop me! You amateur indigo!"

"Hey, what did you just say?!" Sarka exclaimed later in a loud voice.

From inside the bathroom, Alan called out in protest. "Sarka, don't start again."

Sarka grimaced when he realized his mistake. "I was reading a comic. Got carried away, I'm sorry."

Sarka grimaced, while the female ghost named Gwen had already disappeared to peek at Alan taking a bath.
