Chapter 9 A night with a stranger

Chapter nine

Maya got home and make a phone call to Mia to inform her of the good news.

"Mia, I got the job". she said on the phone immediately Mia picked up.

" Really? Congratulations". Mia said on the other end.

"Yeah, am so happy, despite telling her about my pregnancy, she said I can resume with them tomorrow".

" Yes, I never doubted you not getting the job". Mia said

"Yeah, your inspiration leads to it,".

" I am super excited". They chuckle and then the doorbell rang.

"I will chat with you later, let me check who is at the door".

" Ok, bye". they hung up.

"Hold on, am coming". she moves to open the door, but she was surprised to see who it was again." You! Again?".she said and Jayden ignored her as went inside." you really are rude barging into people's houses like you own it" she said unlikely and Jayden turn to her and he could the sad mixture of anger in his face.

"When are you going to tell me about it?". he asked staring straight into her eyes.

" Tell you about what?".she questioned confusedly.

"About Your Pregnancy! you are pregnant, right?" he yelled and Maya went into surprised, wondering how he finds out." you are surprised about how I know, right?". he sighs tiredly and turns his back against her, there was total silence from the two of them until Maya breaks the silence.

"Now that you find out about the pregnancy, can you leave now". she said and Jayden turn to her quickly.

" Really? Is that all you can say? After lying to me?".

"Excuse you! Who the hell do you think you are? You have no business with me or this pregnancy if I can remember clearly you try to pay me off, so, what right do you have to question me?". she yelled angrily at him.

" That doesn't change the fact that I am the father of that child".he snapped back.

"It changes everything! You are not the father of my child, I can never let a pervert and scumbag like you father my child". she retorts.

" I won't listen to your nonsense, the child in there is mine and there is nothing you or anybody can do about it because you are moving in with me". he said and she went surprised.

"Move in where? With you? Never! Over my dead body, I will never move in with you".

" Is an order and you must obey because no child from the Williams is to be born outside their homes". he said solemnly and Maya scoff.

"Why do you think the whole world revolved around you? Do you think you can do anything that pleases you? Well, let me warn you, you stay away from me and my child, I don't want to ever see you again". she warned.

" You got two days to think about what I have told you and moved in with me, otherwise you will hate me for what will come your way". he threatened and walks away

"I already hated you! I hate you". she yelled after him, she fell on the couch and sobs quietly. " I hate you, I hate you". she grunts angrily in tears." you scumbag!".

Later in the day, Maya was having dinner with her aunt at the dining table, she was lost in thought and barely touch her food.

"Maya, you really don't have to look like that, he is not going to take your child away from you". Ms. Lucy said and Maya sighed.

" I am not afraid of him, he can do whatever pleases him, I can never live with him, never! Because, me, moving in with him will endanger my life and that of my child, I know people say a lot of bad things about him and how dangerous he is, that's why I don't want anything to do with him". she said.

"I understand, just try to take it easy, and don't stress yourself about it".

" I won't, he is not my problem right now".

"You should cheer up and look your best tomorrow, you know is your first day at work, and you don't want to look moody on your first day".

" I won't". she smiled."I won't let him ruin my day for me tomorrow".

"I am happy to hear that ". they smile at each other and continue eating.

Jayden was feeling restless all through the night, he keep drinking in his mini bar as Maya's words keep echoing in his head. he has never imagined he could be worried and turned down by a woman.

The next day, Maya arrived at the shopping mall looking her best, she walked in, and the receptionist girls stop her.

" Why are you here again?"1st girl said unlikely at her and Maya smiled.

"What do you think, I work here now". she replied to them and walk away without turning back, and they stares after her confusedly.

" She works here? but why?"2nd girl asked confusedly.

Maya arrived at the manager's office and knock, a voice usher her in, and she enter and saw the manager seated comfortably on her seat and was on a phone call, she sat down waiting for her to finish her call.

"Ok sir". she smile and hung up and then turn to Maya." am sorry about that".

"Is ok ma". maya said.

" Am glad you are here this early ".

" Yes ma, I don't want to make a bad impression on my first day at work "

"Sure, I can understand".

" Thank you ma".

"Please I will prefer you call me Ms. Queen ".

" Um, ok, I will try, so, where can I start".

"Well, you will be in the sales rep. department attending to customers' needs".

" Sure, I will do that," she said.

"Sure, your monthly payment is four hundred dollars". she said and Maya was pleased with the money.

" Thank you".

"You are welcome". she stood up. " follow me let me introduce you to the rest staff and also show you how things are done here ".

" Ok". she stood up and followed her behind.

Days later, Maya got used to her new job, and a lot of customers started to like her, and the manager was pleased with her, which made the two receptionists girl to be envious of her.

"She is getting all the credit already from everyone". 1st girl said frowning.

" Yeah, she is just half a week here and she is already getting everyone's attention, we can't let her steal our spotlight,".2nd said.

"Then, let's make this place unbearable for her, who the hell does she think she is anyway". she grunts.

Maya was attending to a customer when her cell phone beeped for an incoming message, she glance through it and read to herself.

" Don't test my patience, I have given you enough time to think, don't make me force you". she read and scoff knowing fully well who sent the message."what an asshole". she said and continue attending to the customers.

Jayden was in his office waiting for Maya's response to his message, but no response, he grunt and hit his table hard.

"She really thinks she is stubborn, well, let's see how long the stubbornness will last". He said and dial a number on his phone, it rings and the person picks from the other end." go ahead with the plan". he hung up staring hard at one spot.

Later in the day, Maya arrived home to see her aunt back so early from work.

"Aunt, you are home so early?" She questioned to see the look on her face as she sat down lonely in the dining, she drop her back and walk up to her. "Aunt, is there a problem? You look sad".

" I got fired at work ". she replied with a sigh and Maya went startled.

" What? Why?".

"I don't know, I was shocked when the manager called me to his office and told me my services were no longer needed ". she explained.

" What, that's unfair, why will he do that? I mean you have been working in that company for over twenty years now and they don't have the right to just rub you off your work like that, you have put so much effort into that company". she said sadly.

"I don't know what to do, everything is just happening so suddenly, Even the landlord called me earlier to remind me of our rent or he will throw us out". she said.

" What? I thought we already made a deal with him that we would pay by the end of the month".

"Yes, but he is giving us a week and I also heard he is planning on selling out this building soon".

" What! This is not good". Maya said and they sighed sadly.
