"I called you here not just as my second in command but also as my trusted advisor to help me. My son has been selected by the moon goddess to be mated to the serving nurse" Arnold's eye went wild and was shocked.
"This is a delicate issue Alpha and as you know, once a seed of an Alpha finds a mate, he is to be presented in the next full moon to everyone as their mate" the Alpha on hearing this tore his gaze from his window and was growled at his beta
"I will not watch with my two eyes as my son mates with that filthy serving nurse, you and I know that it would be an uttermost shame and embarrassment not only to me but to everyone in Liberty Pack and other packs which are nearest to us" he collected a glass of wine served by his wife and sipped some and looked once more at his Beta
"Parker what would you have me do to avoid this embarrassment? I need you to advise me at this point because I don't know what to do" the Beta thought for a moment and said
"Alpha, you and I know that there is nothing that can be done. The moon goddess has selected the two to be together then let destiny take its cause"
Alpha Damien laughed angrily and retorted
"Destiny? It is quite funny that you too, speak of destiny. My bloodline is at stake here and you are speaking to me about destiny? Now tell me, when am gone do you know that my offspring will be from that filthy serving nurse? Someone who cannot even cater for herself, she cannot be Luna of this Pack!" Arnold didn't know what to say and so decided to opt for just being in deep thought.
"Well, I am going to write off the destiny scripted by the moon goddess and I will write my own destiny just like my ancestors did in their time" the Alpha said with that fiery look he always had on when he was willing to prove he could do something.
"What do you propose then" Luna Celine spoke for the first time since the discussion started. The alpha directed his attention to her and said
"Just watch and see my dear mate" he smirked mischievously.
Nora was mopping the floor and was humming alongside with the birds that seemed like the lead singers.
"You should take some time out and rest my dear friend"Hannah's voice brought her out of his fantasies and she smiled.
"I noticed you were avoidably absent during the event last night, any reason for that" Hannah folded her arms waiting for an explanation. She had hoped that Nora will use the festive eventas a medium to mingle with few people. Before Nora could say anything, she made sure she looked around to ensure nobody was eavesdropping and said in low tone
"I found my mate" Hannah was elated and hugged her friend but stopped on her track when she noticed Nora wasn't being all jovial like she hoped it would be.
"What is the matter? Did he rejected you" Nora asked with one eye brow raised. Nora nodded sideways indicating it to be a NO and once again said in low tone
'I am mated to Logan" Hannah's eyes went wild and she couldn't find a way to comprehend what Nora had just told her. She was shocked for two reasons, one was the fact that Nora mate was the Alpha's son and secondly Hannah had always had a crush on Logan and so this news saddened her.
"That is good news sweetheart!" She didn't mean it with herheart as she wished she was the one mated with Logan.
"So when you both met, how did it feel" Hannah was curious to know Nora's reaction.
"A lot of thing happened last night dear friend. The summary of the whole thing is, we made out and were caught by the Alpha who Logan got into a fight with, trying to protect me his mate, and eventually, I got another scar last night from one of the pack members who was instructed to use a whip on me for disrespecting the Alpha" with that Nora sighed
"So what do you intend to do now that the alpha knows that his son is your mate" Hannah asked still curious
"I haven't given it a thought. But one thing I will have you know is that no one will take my mate away from me because I love him" Hannah hated the fact that the one single person she had come to love was mated to an serving nurse and so, envy and hatred began to engulf her as she channeled it to Nora her friend.
"Well, let me leave you to your chores, I have school to attend" and with that Hannah left the kitchen. Nora on the other hand noticed something was off about Hannah the moment she had mentioned that Logan was her mate but didn't put much thought to it.
While she was still mopping the floor, the same scent from the party filled her nose and once again, her wolf was elated and for all she knows, Logan had come for her. Nora could feel his scent which was mixed summer berries and as she looked up and saw him, there was a connection formed between them as their wolves both clawed to take over. Nora could not concentrate on her chores any longer and definitely felt a spark when he looked into her eyes.
Logan approached her like the last time and felt his wolf taking control and he crashed his lips into hers. Logan tongue slips inside her mouth, gentle but demanding, it was nothing like Nora had experienced. She gripped his hair, pulling him closer as her heart explodes and her vein throbs. The intense moment was brought to an end abruptly by Logan and both were panting heavily from the intense moment. Logan looked at his mate in the eye.
"You are such a beautiful woman and it is such shame that I have to do what is right." Nora smiled realizing that Logan hadn't been that bad as she had expected him to be. He was simply sweet and charming.
"When do you intend marking me?" Nora asked, curiosity getting the best out of her. Aside the fact that she was mated to Logan, she couldn't help but wonder how much respect would be given to her after the entire mating process.
"I don't intend marking you..." Nora stared in disbelief at Logan. "As a matter of fact, I am doing you and everyone a favour." As Logan attempted to speak further, Nora shut her eyes close as she believed the next set of words that would come next.
"I Logan Damien, Reject you as my mate."
Nora's heart heavy as she watched Logan leave the room, after making a huge statement.
She felt like a fool for thinking that she could have found her mate here. She was embarrassed and angry, but mostly, she just felt heartbroken. She wiped away her tears as she walked, trying to calm herself down. She couldn't understand why Logan had rejected her. She had felt a connection with him, a spark that she had never felt before. But now, that spark was nothing but a memory, fading into the darkness.
Dropping all she was doing, Nora head over to her room in pains. She hated the way she felt, but she couldn't take the pain away.
After few minutes, the door opened, revealing Hannah. She attempted to hide her pain away, but it was too late, Hannah had seen the tears.
"What is wrong?" Hannah asked coming over to her side with genuine empathy.
"Logan rejected me." She burst out once more crying hysterically. She hated how the mate bond made her feel.
Hannah listened patiently, her arms wrapped around Nora. When Nora was finished, Hannah took a deep breath. "I'm so sorry," she said. "That must have been awful." She paused for a moment, then continued. "But you're a strong, amazing woman. You don't need a man to complete you. You're enough all by yourself." Nora looked up at Hannah, her eyes still wet with tears. "But I thought he was the one," she said, her voice breaking. "I thought I felt a connection with him." Hannah squeezed Nora's hand.
"Nora, you don't need a man to tell you that you're worthy," Hannah said. "You need to believe in yourself. You are amazing, talented, and strong. You are worthy of love, whether it's from a man or not. Don't let one rejection define you. You define yourself." Hannah wasn't the one to use words, but when Nora had revealed the incidence with Logan, she had been glad deep within that she was rejected.
Nora felt a spark of something within her, a spark of hope. She felt a bit stronger, a bit more like herself. She took a deep breath and nodded. "Thank you," she said, her voice steadier than before.
