Chapter 4 Fowl play

Audrey's POV

Audrey was startled by Victoria's hurrying steps as she ran to her in the school's hallway.

"Audrey....I saw him," Victoria said as she ran towards Audrey.

Audrey stood still, examining her.

"You saw who?" she asked.

"Your Prince Charming," Victoria said, winking at her.

"Zip it Dummy!...no guy is worthy of being called my Prince Charming....you don't always have to be a dummy,okay?" Audrey said as she turned to leave.

"No...Ryan....the guy who has melted your stone heart," Victoria said, closing her eyes and touching her chest.

"Oh please! I lied about what I said to you at the party...and stone is an understatement...my heart is a rocky heart," Audrey said as she left Victoria in total confusion.

Emma's POV

"Emma," Emma heard a voice behind her.

She turned to behold Chloe.

"Chloe!...boy am I glad to see you...I've been looking all over for you," she said, walking towards her.

"Hmm...I'm glad to see you too," Chloe said, smirking.

"You didn't make it to Audrey's party...as always," she added.

"Didn't...feel like coming"

"Ah yes...or your phobia stopped you from coming...you are so bad at lying," Chloe said, laughing.

"I guess you caught me," Emma said, surrendering.

"Hmm"

"Listen, Chloe I'm...sorry that you and Anna couldn't get into the party..."

"No stop it! It's fine...Audrey is a bitch anyways...she had us on the school news. She called us Gamma phobic friends and now, half of the school thinks I and Anna are wary of the dark too, we have the same name now...'weirdos'," Chloe said, using her fingers to emphasize the word.

Emma was mouth agape.

"I am so sorry...I caused it," she said.

"No...it's fine but I'm gonna have my revenge on her...soon," Chloe said.

Ryan's POV

Ryan felt a tap on his back. He turned to find Carter smiling and as usual, his group of friend were behind him.

"What's up bro?," Carter asked.

"I'm...good," Ryan replied, confused.

He stared at the sporty guy standing in front of him with his friends behind him. Carter was like him too. Being the one of the famous guys in school, he had the attention of all whenever he wanted. He was also the best football player in the school's team and he had won several awards as a proof of that. He was no doubt, handsome and cool but proud and arrogant too. One thing Ryan knew too well about Carter was that Carter hated him mostly because he thought most girls admired him more and that he would become more popular than him. Carter never wanted that to happen and he tried all his best to frustrate him. In summary, Carter saw Ryan as competition.

Ryan stared at Carter's hand. It still held his own hand. He was still confused.

"You might be wondering why this is happening," Carter said, smirking.

Ryan shrugged.

"I don't know bro...," he said.

"I've been a jerk...you know that right?"

"I just find you quite annoying...that's all," Ryan said and they all laughed.

"Annoying?...I'm a pest right?" Carter asked.

"What can I say?...You've said it all," Ryan said.

Carter smiled.

Ryan frowned.

Something didn't seem right.

"You did pretty good back there at the tryouts," Carter said.

Bingo! That was it.

It was all about the football tryouts.

Ryan knew the moment his legs touched the football field, Carter would come for him. He thought he had been wrong when two days went by after the tryouts but here he was, smiling at him. What he didn't understand was why he was being nice to him. He had prepared to fight him but with what he was seeing, a fight wasn't necessary.

"That wasn't even my best," Ryan replied, rolling his eyes.

"Woah...pretty sick! If you could dribble a first class player like Henry Davis, you could beat our own football pro, Mateo Anderson....now that's dope! You could even beat me, the captain in a game," Carter said, licking his lips.

Ryan didn't want to have anything to do with Carter. He wanted to leave.

"Hey...why don't you come hang out with us this afternoon....we'll be at the Lounge at Corner Avenue," Carter said, staring at his friends.

"Yeah man...it's gonna be lit," one of his friends said,smiling.

Ryan hated this.

He was silent for sometime, obviously thinking of what to say.

"Alright," he said.

Audrey's POV

"How was lecture,blonde?" Audrey turned to behold none other than Carter.

She stamped her shoes.

"Woah! Woah! Surely you can't be that mad at me," Carter said.

"What part of 'Stay away from me' don't you understand?" Audrey asked.

"I already explained to you...what more do you wanna know?" Carter asked.

"Nothing! Absolutely nothing more!...I am done listening to you!"

"Stop stop it!...you can't throw me away like that!"

"I can throw away anyone I want to throw away...and famous guys are not an exception!"

"I didn't ask Maya out," Carter said.

"But you would have done that...I mean you were cheating on me!"

"No I wasn't"

"I caught you!" Audrey yelled.

"Okay lower your voice"

"Don't worry...my voice won't be the only thing you will try to lower," Audrey said.

"What are you trying to say?" Carter asked.

Audrey adjusted her dress.

"Maybe I still want you to be free...I don't want you to ever regret our relationship...I haven't taken this 'discovery' to the school's media house yet...don't make me do it," Audrey said.

"Is that a threat?" Carter asked.

"Call it whatever you want to call it!...nobody knows about your stupidity yet...you know what will happen if anyone knew...your news will trend!...so why don't you stay away from me...I already broke up with you," Audrey said as she turned to leave.

"So...I guess everything is working in your favor now," Carter said.

Audrey turned slowly.

"What?" she asked.

"You've found your true love"

"What are you saying?"

"You are happy this happened"

Audrey stared.

She understood what he was saying alright. She knew where he was driving at. She felt good seeing him like this and she didn't care about his feelings. She couldn't understand how he found out about her sudden crush on Ryan but she didn't care.

"But it's fine...it's okay...he's a cool person...I hope he makes you happy," Carter said as he left.

Audrey stood still, surprised.
