Chapter 5 MYSTERIOUS DEATH

Marilyn gasped. She turned around when someone's deep voice spoke. That guy, William. Standing in the doorway, looking straight at her.

"Ah, I'm just looking at it," she replied awkwardly. Marilyn gulped roughly. "I see blood."

William, with a straight face walked over. "Where?"

Without looking down at her shoes, Marilyn pointed at what she meant. "Here."

"Nothing."

Surprised, Marilyn turned her head. And sure enough, not a drop of blood was there. She blinked, trying to make sure that what she was seeing was real.

"But I really see blood, seriously. Coming out from the sidelines of the cupboard, hit my shoe," she explained convincingly.

William just silent. Gradually Marilyn felt uncomfortable being stared at by William that intensely. To her it was the most horrifying look she had ever seen, William didn't blink for a second.

"Get out of here," William said with a bit of pressure.

Because already surrounded by feelings of fear, Marilyn finally came out of the room. But before that, her eyes caught something like a penknife in William's trouser pocket.

What was William doing with the switchblade? Marilyn entered the classroom with a question running through her mind.

As she sat in her chair, Marilyn turned around and didn't find Jessica beside her. Maybe she's still mad at her. Marilyn understood that.

But Marilyn realized something, slowly the air in the class changed when the corners of her eyes caught William walking into class.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Marilyn looked at the faces of her classmates one by one. Something's wrong.

The skin on their faces turned pale, even paler than when she passed the students who were passing by this morning.

"HAHH!" Marilyn flinched when she felt someone tap her shoulder. She turned and saw Jessica.

"Don't daydream often," she admonished.

A thin frown graced Marilyn's forehead. "I'm not dreaming anymore."

"Obviously you just fantasized, called did not answer, I thought you were stupid or something," she said.

Marilyn still didn't understand. The girl was too confused to finally choose to forget the slightly surprising incident.

"By the way, are you not mad at me?" asked Marilyn realizing that Jessica was lightly talking to her. In fact, what Marilyn knew was that when someone was already angry, she would be reluctant to invite other people to chat.

"I'm angry? Since when did I get angry with you?" Jessica frowned in surprise.

"I think you're angry because I'm gone too late. Keep worrying about looking for it."

Jessica shook her head. "In fact, I've been in class ever since, chatting with the others. Well, I'm a bit worried, but I'm sure you're safe."

"Forget it," ended Marilyn holding her head dizzy.

As the astonishment hit, Marilyn's focus shifted to the scratches on Jessica's wrist. Without permission, she pulled Jessica's hand out to see more clearly.

"What's this, Jessica?" asked Marilyn in shock. How not, the wound was definitely done on purpose. Scratches from sharp objects show the spelling of Jessica's name so clearly.

Instead of answering, Jessica pulled her hand roughly, covering the scratch by lowering the fold of her sleeve.

"You do?" Marilyn did not give up asking. There's something strange about Jessica. The change in attitude was unbelievable.

"Don't get too close to him." Jessica whispered. "The silent one is a strange human."

"Who?" asked Marilyn raising an eyebrow.

"I can't mention his name, I can only take care of you."

"What's really wrong with you, Jessica? Why are you acting so weird like this?" Marilyn shook her head, why was it suddenly so unclear.

"I'm fine," said Jessica smiling.

Jessica's demeanor fluctuated, it was like someone was controlling her. This is not like the real Jessica.

Marilyn noticed that the expression on Jessica's face had changed, a look of distaste and hatred was shown when William walked closer to the second seat.

Marilyn gulped roughly. Aura enveloped the surroundings.

"Free time, want to come with me to the library?" he offered.

Unlucky. Why was he showing that hideous smile again.

Marilyn scratched her hair which didn't itch at all. Confused, what to say.

"Ah that ... sorry I can't," she said as she released a forced smile. The corner of her eye saw Jessica who looked increasingly unfriendly to the appearance of William.

"Okay," William replied briefly, then walked away from the class.

Marilyn could let out a sigh of relief. "Gosh, his aura is so scary."

"See, whatever I said, you have to stay away from him," Jessica warned for the umpteenth time.

Marilyn only nodded in response. It crossed her mind about the discussion of the group of students in the toilet earlier.

"You know about the rumored "ghost terror"?" She asked.

Jessica nodded. "Yes, there's been a lot of talk since Mrs. Janet's body was found. Students are starting to connect with rumors of "ghost terror". Rumors say that terror will continue. Many victims will mysteriously die," she commented.

Marilyn gulped roughly. "Just rumours, I'm sure Mrs. Janet was killed by someone. There's no way she died for no reason," she said.

"I agree. I also don't believe in the rumors that are circulating," said Jessica.

After that conversation, their class was immediately summoned to the teacher's room. All students will be examined until their fingerprints. And at that moment, Marilyn was quite sure that Mrs. Janet's killer would soon be found.

***

"None of the fingerprint samples at this school were found to match the fingerprints on Miss Janet's body, and the case was closed, determined to be a suicide." Marcel said entering the class with warm information.

"Suicide? Seriously!" said Anna did not understand.

"No one? Then, the hand marks on Mrs. Janet's neck?" asked Joshua.

"That one is still a mystery," Marcel replied.

"What indicates that Miss Janet really committed suicide?" Jessica asked with raised eyebrows. Marilyn knew that the girl did not agree with the decision of the authorities.

Marcel shrugged. "Before she was found in the bushes, she was claimed to have stood on the roof, confirmed by the evidence of the watch she was wearing."

"No way," muttered Marilyn.

"The ghost terror rumors ... do you believe it?" Anna said attracting their attention.

"You believe in rumors that it's not clear where they come from, eh? This is just a kid's trick, so that the case will go out in an uproar, then it will be boomed by the media," said Jessica sounding embarrassed.

"After all, where are there ghost terrors, our school is known to be haunted, all students are used to that one, please don't be fooled by those lousy rumors," she continued.

Some of them seemed to nod, agreeing with Jessica's statement, a sign that they didn't want to believe the rumors that were currently circulating. But not with Joshua, the boy did not give any response.

"Do you believe?" Jessica said frowning at him.

"Believe or not, depending on the situation tomorrow. See, there are further victims."
